Saw X is a 2023 American horror film directed and edited by Kevin Greutert and written by Peter Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg. The film is the tenth installment in the Saw film series, serving as both a direct sequel to Saw (2004) and a prequel to Saw II (2005), starring Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith who reprise their roles from the previous films, acting alongside Synnøve Macody Lund, Steven Brand, Renata Vaca, and Michael Beach, who play new characters. The film sees John Kramer (Bell) travelling to Mexico in hopes that an experimental procedure may cure him. John later discovers that the operation is a scam, prompting him to kidnap those responsible and subject them to his trademark death traps as retribution.

This is where I knew things were fake because in Saw 3, John didn't have a scar already on his head when Lynn did surgery. Though for a sec I did wonder if that was getting retconned.
It is interesting how John imagined the janitor losing his game instead of surviving. Especially right after he was told how many months he had left to live. But when he found out he was "cured", he basically quit being Jigsaw for that short amount of time. Goes to show that despite his philosophy and moral code, at the end of the day he's really just angry at the world for taking his life while other gets to live, and at his lowest he's vengeful, which is the entirety of this movie.

I think John has convinced himself that he's helping people, but deep down he's taking his bitterness for everything that has happened to him out on people he thinks don't deserve to live. Unless they can prove that they do.
i agree, like this franchise for me ultimately boils down to a man who was mad at the world and took that out on others.
Shouts out to 81 year old, Tobin Bell, who had me out here feeling bad for Jigsaw and rooting for the demise of these people (mostly Cecelia's fabulously, evil *ss). 😂

With Saw XI confirmed, I think we're going to see more of Cecelia and she'll end up getting it pretty bad. I also think Gabby had a notably easier trap (breaking bones vs removing brain or leg + marrow) because she was the least involved in the scam. Great video as always!

The AUDACITY of Amanda to say, “They didn’t have the will to live,” after ole girl SAWED HER LEG OFF and ole dude CARVED OUT A PIECE OF HIS BRAIN is so baffling to me. Like be SO forreal right now, Microbangs 😭 Seriously tho, this is the only Saw to make me sob. That ending had me in tears!!!

The fuckers didn't even start until after they'd argued with the others for a minute and a half. That's what got them killed.
I really think John should add some sort of "close enough" clause to his rules. Like, I hated both of them - but not only did they do exactly what was asked of them, but they managed probably the most insane things any victim has ever actually pulled off. They passed their tests; the traps just took too long to deactivate, and they got offed because of it. It honestly spoiled a lot of the move for me

I know it wasn't a real trap and all. But if you wake up in a trap, and all John Kramer asks of you is to break all the fingers on one hand, and you STILL lose? Then you deserve it! I would have cranked that dial in one go. It'll heal, and I got all my limbs!

Valentina's trap was really harsh. It was bad for her. Gabriella had a pretty light trap since John liked her and she was at the bottom of the ladder. The brain picker, well, IDK. I didn't think much about him either way. 🤣

I’ve seen some comments say that Cecilia intentionally gave Valentina and Gabriella bad instructions for their traps, to try and kill them off so she’d get more of the money. Apparently there’s a better way to cut with the Gigli Saw than what Cecilia suggested? Though I think Jigsaw and Amanda already screwed over Valentina when they instructed her to sever her leg THAT high up. But with Gabriella’s trap, she would’ve been saved sooner had she just broken her wrist. The radiation machine was only set to swivel on the x axis, not up and down. If she broke her wrist first instead of listening to Cecilia, she would’ve fallen to the floor sooner and sustained fewer radiation burns. No way in hell Matteo could’ve won though, cuz he wouldn’t be able to guarantee he’d remove a big enough piece of his brain matter to dissolve in the time limit. And god forbid he removed a piece that reminds him how to breathe, speak, or walk, and the fact he wasn’t sterilized before the procedure. Winning his game, he’d still be on borrowed time, dead due to an eventual infection.

Valentina’s death was easily the worst imo, because decapitation is never instant. Some records state that the heads of people decapitated were seen trying to mouth words for as much as 8 seconds after they were severed…And with Valentina here…I mean, you’d suddenly feel white hot pain on your neck, a warm, slightly euphoric feeling as your head tilts back against your own free will. You’d probably begin to lose sensation in your fingers, really anything below your neck as your nervous system is severed, your vision goes red, dark, and heavy, it becomes impossible to breathe without oxygen and what little oxygen you last inhaled depletes, and your mouth, throat and nose fill with blood. Can’t bring your hands up to your head for obvious reasons, as you fall away from your body, and being disconnected from it you can’t even use your arms anymore to brace for impact with the ground. Then it’s lights out…I’m not a doctor by any means, but that’s at least what I’d imagine it would be like.

Twice in a week we are eating, fake cancer cure Karen was wild in this and I definitely thought seeing more of John Kramer was cool and with how evil those he was up agaisnst were, managed to make you root for him lol, def liked this one

you’re the first person i’ve watched that’s has the same opinions as me about the victims of this movie. cecelia was the one who deserved the worst and she got off the easiest. why was this movie so aggressive towards the poor brown people and so light handed on the white woman who masterminded the whole thing? just didn’t feel right
YES. I know they lied but they were victims too and the true big bad was the woman in charge of it all.
It really does feel like the Saw franchise is life lessons on how to treat people and how to survive extreme, tortuous situations. Also, with the exception of maybe 3 traps (Amanda, the orderlie, and Gabriella), I'd be good and gone for sure! 😬

Needless to say the comments about Amanda's hair were quite common.
Valentina had the worst fate, but Gabriella was done dirty by Cecilia (who clearly didn't learn anything). I wouldn't be surprised if Gabriella's death is what caused her to snap and make traps inescapable.
On the note of Gabriella: She probably would have fared better if she ignored Cecilia and went for her wrist first. From then on she could have crunched herself up and went for the foot.
Also, in a deleted scene the door opens when time expires and Cecilia pulls her head out, but that's all we see. It should be interesting to see what role she plays in Saw XI.
I am a huge fan of the franchise and I was in the theater having a blast with this movie lol but somebody tell me how the puppet made its way to Mexico 😂

Agree about the end. Cecelia was set up to be truly evil but also very capable and then all she had to was kill her boyfriend like she dgaf about that man haha. The actress did a really good job selling this role though.
I said the exact same thing with Valentina's trap. She did the thing. She did the whole thing. That vacuum was too slow.
One thing I realized, Amanda and John could've released themselves at any moment and prevented the kid from being in the trap. But, simply to put Cecilia through a trial, he put Carlos through the trap.

When you eventually get to Curse Of Chucky and Cult Of Chucky, be sure to watch the unrated versions as they both had post credit scenes that are not available on the theatrical versions for some reason which is weird because the post credit scene for Curse sets up Cult and the post credit scene for Cult sets up the Chucky tv series

Something that was in the movie when I saw it on the big screen which seems to not have appeared in the home versions was subtitles during the exchange with Diego just before John kidnaps him. Diego asks "Where are we going?" to which John responds "To Hell!"

It is actually possibly to survive without around 10 percent of your brain without permanent brain damage. Which is why I think John chose the occipital lobe of the brain which has more to do with sight then body or brain functionality. Or it could be that’s where they operated. Either way the trap is possible to survive.
That’s why I’ve always respected Johns traps. They are sadistic but their survivable.

This is easily my favorite one because, 1-3 I love after that they get kinda iffy but they did great with this one even the writing was better. I can’t believe I was rooting for John but he had valid points that woman was EVIL at least John seems to have some morals, and I think that speaks to Gabby’s trap it honestly wasn’t that bad I think he saw Amanda in her so he wanted to give her a better shot vs the others. The twist was INSANE I really wasn’t expecting the fake surgery or the fact she already new who jigsaw was 10/10 for me and a fire reaction as always.
When I say the stylist on both sets with Gale and Amanda had a VENDETTAAAAA bc honey 😂😂 love the reaction !!!

Despite the place in the franchises chronology, making Saw X basically a prequel prequel, it pulled the same move that the last/latest/most "recent" Purge film pulled: Time to Kill Mexicans...Of course other people were killed in both films, but the overarching focus was upon violence against latin/hispanic/raza individuals in both films. And this was ironic as the Purges total theme was on a grand scale of violence targeting mobs of people ( or as many as possible) as we all know about that franchise, whilst Saw is much more slective, personal, and in your face as it deals with individual perspectives, both from within and without. Yet still...as a hispanic dude...after seeing the shit show that was the "Forever Purge" which really did overfocus on us waaay too much, it was an odd move for yet ANOTHER Saw film to come out, and take place...south of the border for some reason. Clearly they think they know what they are doing in Hollywood, and as for many things the "formula" as I have long claled it was perfected in the last 2 or 3 decades for everything from film, to television, and music, so clearly there is some demographic audience these films are being made to appeal to. And its obvious and disappointing. But, such is the way of modern life. Hope you keep enjoying horro films, cause theres FAAAR better ones, especially near the start of the Saw Franchise (1 & 2 are enough tbh). SUBBED! BE well and happy "holy days ^
