For sure PQ island is a tourist attraction , especially for Asian tourists who have no time or not enough money to visit Europe . It was developed only a few years ago . I was there in 2000 that island was still a green quiet place with no foreign tourists , no big hotels , no luxurious resorts . Everything was very cheap and the inhabitants were so friendly , hospitable and honest ( the houses had no door and people didn't need to lock their bicycles like today ) . They were not rich but they had a peaceful and happy life , with no pollution and stresses . Same thing with Bana Hills in Da Nang . If you want to experience the real Vietnam , you should go to Ninh Binh , Cat Ba island , Pu Luong , Mu Cang Chai , Ban Gioc waterfall in Cao Bang province , Ba Bê lake in Bac Can province , the Central Highlands (Tây Nguyên ) , Con Dao islands where the French also built a prison ( bigger than the one in PQ ) to jail the Vietnamese patriots . During the American war , the Yankees and the South Vietnamese government also used that place to imprison the Vietnamese revolutionaries with more tortures and atrocities . BTW we will be back to PQ in February for the 4th time . We will take the bus from HCMC to Châu Doc to pay respect the Mother Goddess Ba Chua Xu (have you ever heard about her ? ) , then the boat on the Vinh Tê canal to Ha Tiên , and from there the ferry to PQ . Will you be still in VN for Têt ? . We will make you discover more hidden gems in VN where no foreigners ever heard about .
Wow so much change in so little time 😮 sound like an amazing trip planned. I have heard of ba chua xu but I dont think i have yet visited any temple dedicated to her. I am in fact still in VN during tet. I will be here until mid Feb. Thanks for the invitation ❤ where are you located in?
@@viljarirankka I am currently living in Song Pha ( Ninh Thuân province ) and will be in Saigon for Têt to visit my siblings . By Feb. 6th I will be starting my trip to Châu Doc . Afterwards I will be heading to Dalat , Nha Trang , Tuy Hoa , Da Nang , Hoi An , Huê , Hanoi , Cat Ba island , then back to my retreat in Song Pha . Hope to meet you in HCMC and have a coffee or a bowl of Pho together and if you want I could make you visit Châu Doc , Ba Chua Xu temple , Sam mountain and Tra Su bird park .
Nice! I am in Ninh Binh rn and gradually heading southwards. I am not 100% sure if I will be in HCMC by the beginning of feb but if I can make it that would be great 🫶. Could you go drop me a follow on instagram @viljari_rankka and I’ll DM you.
Phu Quoc is so beautiful I want to go there but the geographical distance is too far I live in Hanoi if I have the chance I will definitely come here ❤
Yeah ! like I said PQ island is more designed for Asian tourists like Vietnamese , South Korean , Japanese , Chinese , Taiwanese , Hong Kongese , Philippine , Indian , Singaporean , Thai , Malaysian , Indonesian , etc... I am pretty sure you were one of the rare blond haired , blue eyed men on this island . If there was no Covid pandemic , that island would be already full of visitors . Hope tourism will pick-up very soon this year . Cam on anh da quang ba ra thê gioi hon Dao Ngoc cua Viêt Nam .
Yeah a ton of Asian tourists in PQ but actually now there were quite a lot of Russian people too. Perhaps that is a fairly new thing 🤔 I hope the island will become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world . Would be great for VN 🇻🇳❤️
We were there last July as one of the last two places prior to flying back to the US. I'm not sure what to make out of that place. It certainly has a lot of potential but the vibe isn't there, particularly in those new developments (definitely ghost towns). We'd prefer to venture into more local neighborhoods rather than those touristy places though we did visit them as well. I can see the Vietnamese like those new developments (similarly to how they love Ba Na hill in Da Nang) but for those of us coming from the Western part of the world, these areas are just theme parks and sort of lacking character. Phu Quoc is also significantly more expensive compared to other parts of Vietnam.
Yes definitely 💯 I think the new developments are worth visiting because they are quite impressive but the real beauty in Phu Quoc is probably the gorgeous natural landscape and the locals are so nice too 🫶
Phu Quoc always welcomes you ❤

@@MingTri-g3n literally in the opposite side of the country 😄 but I do recommend! The landscape there is so pretty 😍
Phu Quoc is beautiful but it seems a bit quiet and less commercial but always attracts many tourists to come here.
