They used to call this the pearl island but look at it now. Fake copy of Italian towns as a tourist attraction. The government does know how to destroy what once was known a paradise 😢
I get what you mean. I think that natural beauty of PQ island is still there to be found outside these new “towns” ❤️ I hope that the new developments at least bring in new growth for VN through tourism in the future.
Hey, It's so nice to watch your videos. I'm Vietnamese but sometimes I cannot also handle with Hanoi lifestyles. I've lived in Thai Nguyen City which located in the Northern Vietnam, It's a small city but fresher than Hanoi. Why dont you visit other smaller cities like Hue, Danang, Nha Trang, Hoi an, Ha giang, Thai Nguyen, Hai Phong, Ha Long, Ninh Binh, Tay Ninh and so many of them, They are much fresher, more beautiful than Hanoi in many aspects and It's also the good way to explore the local's life. Have a nice trip.
Thank you for watching. Videos on some of those cities mentioned coming soon 😊
Great video thanks for sharing

Ho Chi Minh is "famous" globally, my friend, and certainly NOT an infamous figure. Also, wealth inequality doesn't just apply to developing countries, let me give you an example: The USA.

The opaque is almost fog, 30 years ago, there were very little number of vehicles, no factories, in winters, the air were also same, in rural, dust flying and gluing to leaves making everything turned yellowish, fog were thick until 10am -11am every morning, when we were going to school in mornings about 7 am, we even couldn't see people from 10 meter ahead, the air turned dark in 4:30 PM. Now, urbanization and industrialization then it could contribute to air pollution.
Oh I see. Thanks for the insight!

What's your theory on why Phú Quốc never really took off as a destination? My understanding is the ridiculous greed of the locals is a major turnoff... understandably so.
@@yamuiemata I just think Vietnam as a whole is not as popular as other countries for tourism but I think that is changing real soon 👍
He's English is top👏 nice to see they want to stay after they finish university because Vietnam needs a lot of environmental specialists😅

Come to Vung Tau city, there is sea and the air is very fresh and cool. Hanoi, although it is the capital of Vietnam, has too much dust and smoke. If you go out on the street without wearing a mask, it is very dangerous.
Looks like a cool place!
Ho Chi Minh city is also very beautiful
@@Trjkazika That goes without saying.

Wasn't Thailand's non-colonized state thanks to serving as a geo buffer between two powers - UK vs France? Read somewhere that their king had to concede land to these powers (Southland to British Empires' Malaysia and Northeast to French Indochine).
Yeah that’s right. Siam served as a buffer zone between French and British territories and had to give some land away to both.
Tuyệt vời... em cảm ơn Anh... 🎉💚

Have you ever visited Phuket? Do u think about Phu Quoc compare with Phuket ?
@@TuấnTạ-q9s i have never visited Phuket but I would imagine it’s more crowded with tourists than PQ. And the nightlife is a bit more active in Thailand in general than VN. VN and especially PQ is more chill what I like very much 😊👍
I am in Hanoi and planning to visit Phu Quoc next week and trying to for decide on the area to stay. Do you have any suggestion? Thanks for your video it help
North - VIn Grand World, Mid - gather lots of local people, South - Sunset Town, Hon Thom Island, Khem Beach.... If you have time, you should spend one week and more to discover Phu Quoc Island
@@waltermills9249 yeah like Tuan said Grand world in the north and Sunset Town in the south are cool places. If you have to decide between them I would say go to Sunset Town in the south. I think there are a lot more cool activities going on. And if you have time you can take the cable car from there to another Island called Hon Thom. Costs 600k VND. We didn’t have time to go there but I heard it looks like Santorini, Greece. Thank you for watching 😊

Thailand lost to Vietnam in the final of the AFF Cup against Vietnam. I plan to travel to Thailand this year but I'm not sure if they are still friendly to Vietnamese people.

Like a ghost town
Yup 😄👻
Yeah ! like I said PQ island is more designed for Asian tourists like Vietnamese , South Korean , Japanese , Chinese , Taiwanese , Hong Kongese , Philippine , Indian , Singaporean , Thai , Malaysian , Indonesian , etc... I am pretty sure you were one of the rare blond haired , blue eyed men on this island . If there was no Covid pandemic , that island would be already full of visitors . Hope tourism will pick-up very soon this year . Cam on anh da quang ba ra thê gioi hon Dao Ngoc cua Viêt Nam .
Yeah a ton of Asian tourists in PQ but actually now there were quite a lot of Russian people too. Perhaps that is a fairly new thing 🤔 I hope the island will become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world . Would be great for VN 🇻🇳❤️
For sure PQ island is a tourist attraction , especially for Asian tourists who have no time or not enough money to visit Europe . It was developed only a few years ago . I was there in 2000 that island was still a green quiet place with no foreign tourists , no big hotels , no luxurious resorts . Everything was very cheap and the inhabitants were so friendly , hospitable and honest ( the houses had no door and people didn't need to lock their bicycles like today ) . They were not rich but they had a peaceful and happy life , with no pollution and stresses . Same thing with Bana Hills in Da Nang . If you want to experience the real Vietnam , you should go to Ninh Binh , Cat Ba island , Pu Luong , Mu Cang Chai , Ban Gioc waterfall in Cao Bang province , Ba Bê lake in Bac Can province , the Central Highlands (Tây Nguyên ) , Con Dao islands where the French also built a prison ( bigger than the one in PQ ) to jail the Vietnamese patriots . During the American war , the Yankees and the South Vietnamese government also used that place to imprison the Vietnamese revolutionaries with more tortures and atrocities . BTW we will be back to PQ in February for the 4th time . We will take the bus from HCMC to Châu Doc to pay respect the Mother Goddess Ba Chua Xu (have you ever heard about her ? ) , then the boat on the Vinh Tê canal to Ha Tiên , and from there the ferry to PQ . Will you be still in VN for Têt ? . We will make you discover more hidden gems in VN where no foreigners ever heard about .
Wow so much change in so little time 😮 sound like an amazing trip planned. I have heard of ba chua xu but I dont think i have yet visited any temple dedicated to her. I am in fact still in VN during tet. I will be here until mid Feb. Thanks for the invitation ❤ where are you located in?
@@viljarirankka I am currently living in Song Pha ( Ninh Thuân province ) and will be in Saigon for Têt to visit my siblings . By Feb. 6th I will be starting my trip to Châu Doc . Afterwards I will be heading to Dalat , Nha Trang , Tuy Hoa , Da Nang , Hoi An , Huê , Hanoi , Cat Ba island , then back to my retreat in Song Pha . Hope to meet you in HCMC and have a coffee or a bowl of Pho together and if you want I could make you visit Châu Doc , Ba Chua Xu temple , Sam mountain and Tra Su bird park .
Nice! I am in Ninh Binh rn and gradually heading southwards. I am not 100% sure if I will be in HCMC by the beginning of feb but if I can make it that would be great 🫶. Could you go drop me a follow on instagram @viljari_rankka and I’ll DM you.
That kid in the abandoned amusement park spoke amazing English! That's a rarity as kids with that level of English competency would be found mostly in big cities like Saigon or Hanoi instead.

We were there last July as one of the last two places prior to flying back to the US. I'm not sure what to make out of that place. It certainly has a lot of potential but the vibe isn't there, particularly in those new developments (definitely ghost towns). We'd prefer to venture into more local neighborhoods rather than those touristy places though we did visit them as well. I can see the Vietnamese like those new developments (similarly to how they love Ba Na hill in Da Nang) but for those of us coming from the Western part of the world, these areas are just theme parks and sort of lacking character. Phu Quoc is also significantly more expensive compared to other parts of Vietnam.
Yes definitely 💯 I think the new developments are worth visiting because they are quite impressive but the real beauty in Phu Quoc is probably the gorgeous natural landscape and the locals are so nice too 🫶
