Idea for the base: Would it be possible to put the ladder along a side wall rather than right above the door? That way you could go up and down without leaving the Line(TM)
I wanted to see Kevin build an entire 2D base using the ladder method he found but this is even better! Although he'd be pressing left or facing left maybe it will feel unnatural to the challenge. Would make great architecture thouogh! I hope he does make a base in either way...

Carry wheat to lure cows/sheep, carry carrots to lure pigs, carry seeds to lure chickens 3. Put your bed/crafting blocks in the ground to save room 4. If you have a chance kill slimes, can be used to make leads to drag animals to you
The biggest sin is to have gone away from line. But having seen the entire vid, i can surely sab Kevin didn't cross any line, but he crossed oceans and rivers, deserts and dark deserts...

That would completely defeat the challenge. You could just zig zag and get anywhere on the map. Unless you mean there'd be only one branching point and you only choose where to go from there.

I think you can make the world edge into rectangles instead of squares, this might be easier to do with a hard barrier keeping you in a straight line

Trap doors may help you with having multiple floors on the building. open them to go up the ladder, close them to stand on and go to that floor
