Thank you to Chris for stopping by 🙏 Hope you guys enjoy some of the backstory and Chris's story of discovering Thailand. Have anyone else you want to see on One Night in Bangkok? Let me know here!
I dated a Korean girl in 2002-2003 in Seoul and what Chris said is right about the parents. I never met her parents. She couldn't tell them I was American. We got death stares and insults when we were out in public. Some restaurants wouldn't let us eat at their businesses. One Canadian guy I knew who dated a Korean woman who owned a cafe, he couldn't go in there and act like he knew her because she worried that she would lose her Korean customers. I have tons of stories like this. Even the little kids would tell you what nationalities they didn't like. So parents teach them that. I only lived there six months and moved to Thailand. You couldn't pay me to go to South Korea again.
Perhaps it’s because of their history with America and the war. American military bases still exist in SKorea. They don’t want to be used as cannon fodder against the North Koreans as with the case in other countries right now.
Interesting My husband and I was expats in Baku Azerbaijan My husband’s director was married with Korean She had very high expectations and wanted to mingle only with high class society over there She plaid Tennis and wanted to mingle only with rich Her husband was German But you could see he wasn’t happy because his dad never accepted his grandkids to be Korean and her Korean parents want for her to play high so they can show of with other Koreans.. So they live to satisfy other people and show off
Chris is such a legend he has such a deep love for the country of Thailand if anyone hasn't seen his early pay it forward videos they are a must watch such tearjerkers. I used to love watching his videos early on and especially his lives that would go for 3 to 4 hours out on the town they were just an amazing escape from the lockdowns we were experiencing at the time.
Great pod Eric, Chris is so informative and easy to follow and listen too. Your able to build a picture in your head the way he speaks which is great. Not to mention your questioning really helps too mate . Love it

Chris changed my mind as to where i was going to go for winters once i can retire. Gone are the dreams of mexico or one of those countries down south. I think Chris is the happiest person I know just wish I can grab some of that Thai happiness. Great interview. Thanks.

My Story with Chris Parker began during Lockdown also, I had fallen in love with Thailand in the 70s , I found an Agent Whom I , as a Dyslexic I see the everything from the left when everyone else seems it all from the right , Hence I needed a Thai English speaking Agent , I was in my #0 s and a well established Designer and Model , I had 3 young Children and was widowed , I got an Agent in Australia first Who was an X Editor in Singapore before he came to Australia, I was HIM who got me my agents in Singapore, Hong Kong and Bankok , after I retired I continued to return to Bangkok every chance I get as I am also a Godmother to my was once my Agent Turned into One of my Best Friends , Lockdown all booked to Bangkok with my big sister Covid Lockdown 😢😢😢😢 But the Good that came out of it I met you Chris Then your Beautiful Beautiful Wife Your Parents and Family , I love Bangkok , it has a heartbeat that I love , I also love the Medical systems, I love Your Energy , Also your Charity Work , 💙❤️🙏❤️💙
the thing that got me hooked on retired working 4 you was the pay it forward video's and the great things he did during covid with the food parcels etc to the less fortunate and the work with Icare is incredible!
I’ve been watching Chris for a while now and enjoyed learning about his experience in the entertainment industry. His TH-cam video about arriving at Suvarnabhumi, made my life a lot easier, when I flew into town three weeks ago. 🙏😀
Great great great show from you both. Chris, you are a very interesting person who seems to have lived a great life with plenty more to come. Really enjoyed this guys. Ps, your wife is a legend for calling the move shot, behind every great man, is a great woman
Great, see him. I followed him for a good few years now..great to see him chatting and sharing his experience. Im just 7 months a year, but he did make me start looking at more things! I got the last flight to the UK as Covid hit hard after that it was lockdown. But i still kept my dream of spending more than 50% year..thailand. and i followed Chris i stay there few months, but being going 15+ Years. After always going to FL for years Many Thai friends..over these years..and all my friends still working for years yet in uk..if anyone asks me why do like it so much...i always tell them i couldnt explain it all to you...go for a holiday you wont regret it and you will find it hard to go many other places...great to see him today...and i always thought it be good if you hooked up with him and get on your channel!.well done..great you got together and got us viewers clued to the screen

Great interview thank you. I’m heading to Thailand in March your videos of helped…. You did a video on an amazing spa now I can’t find it🤦♀️. If you have time please would you consider replying with the name and location?

Every day I dream & agonise about moving to Thailand to retire but at the moment I’m just making sure it all makes sense and crossing the T’s & dotting the I’s … I’ll be in BKK in July for three weeks and that seems an eternity away 😩
@1life1kitchen - Be careful of Thailand! Once you go there, you will be obsessed with wanting to stay longer or never leaving! Once you're back home, all you think about is how to get back to Thailand. Thailand is very addicting! You feel like a better person once you've experienced Thai culture. After many trips, your next obsession is how to retire in Thailand!
Been living in or traveling to Thailand for 20 years and my story is basically exactly same as Chris. Started out getting a degree in filmmaking then worked in the film industry as a PA then started teaching English in Japan and discovered Thailand 6 months later. I was making videos 20 years ago on videotape too!. Good to see a less YT side of Chris and hear about his story.
Love the videos! Love how I came across you and you interview youtubers I know. Enjoying all the videos man. Got out of the NAVY and bought a one way ticket to Thailand!
Such a great watch! I’m aiming to make Bangkok base next winter! Something about the energy of Thailand is infectious! Really resonating with you two talking about the western mentality, new subscriber!
So many of my friends who live or have lived in large cities get caught in the bubble phenomenon. They say they want to go travel, but the troubles of just getting out of the city and their "comfort zone" deter them from traveling. The friends I have that live in smaller cities, do get out more and travel within and outside of the country.
Thank you for this interview, I have been watching Chris for a long time, and you are correct, he has inspired me to consider the move! BUT I do plan on a major visit first! Great Interview!
I am in industrial sales. I just visited Thailand in nov 2023. I just fell in love with the place. All of it. Bangkok, phiphi, phuket, chaong mai, chiang rai, all of it. Can someone genuinely suggest how can i move to thailand forever!
Great convo! And I fully relate to both these guys, having started out in rave production in the mid 90s, then moving on to work in video production for the last 17 years, and now about to make my first visit to Thailand this month. Informative and entertaining stuff, thanks guys!
GREAT interviewing by you, ONIB! And wow is Chris the man... He's the manifestation of what so many of us 80's/90's kids (and apparently 2000's+ kids!) dreamed of becoming. My perception of Chris has changed from this interview (in a positive and shocking way!) in that he comes across, and I believe truly IS, a wicked real, down-to-earth person that parlayed his creative nature + business acumen into a dope-ass "real-world" career that was ahead of his time in the early 2000's - WOW Chris, so inspiring!!!! I say this next comment with the deepest reverence and respect, but it's almost hard to believe that this fuggin awesome dude created the filming production empire that he's responsible for..!! I think he'd have been the same inspirational and relatable TH-camr that he currently is, with or without his success in the entertainment industry. We wanderlusting North American kids of the 80's and 90's were always so deeply called toward taking the leap that Chris (and ONIB fella!) took. The vast majority of us never conjured up the courage (that's ME) to just friggin go for it , but Chris' content is such a heartening vacation into the dream that's always possible, but likely has passed in our late 30's and 40's. I have so many buddies that feel like they could be utterly content in doing what Chris does, myself included, however most folks cannot do the awesomeness that Chris does. And that's my favorite part about Chris - his transportive travelogues and sliding doors videos of a life that might've been lived (and maybe still can!?) feel 1000% like watching your best bud living the dream in Thailand, or any foreign land. Major thanks to both of y'all
Thanks so much for the comment! And yes, Chris definitely is a very "down to earth" kind of guy, despite the TH-cam fame. Hope to see you over here soon 🙏
Great video Eric, new to your your channel, but been following Chris since 2020, awesome view of Thailand, been a visitor many times, but plan to make Thailand my home in 2025

The only thing about living in Thailand that can’t be described and takes some effort to get used to is the HEAT. It is a bit oppressive , even coming from San Diego it is an adjustment because of the humidity.

I'm heading to RB, Krabi next week for the first time, can't wait! I know it's one of Chris' favorite spots in Thailand.
