Moved here from Philly and I absolutely love it! Plenty of fun things to keep yourself busy, plus the beach is amazing, especially conpared to Jersey. The traffic (for me) isn't bad. Try living in a major metropolitan city and you'll truly see the meaning of bad traffic 😂 and that's year round. To each their own though. If you don't like the area, and can afford to move away, then why not do it. It's the reason I did it myself, and relocated down to VaBeach.
The weather in Virginia Beach is so indecisive, one day it’s a high of 40 the next it’s a high of 90. One time we were told we could get anywhere from 0” of snow to 19” of snow.
I've lived here all my life. Traffic has exploded here in the last 15ish years. Between the military and the tourism, it's a nightmare. Also took my wife and I 6 months to find a house the last time we moved. Also, I avoid the oceanfront like the plague. I guess I do like it here bit that's probably because of how well I k ow the area. When I retire though, we are moving to the middle of nowhere lol.
@haukepowers My mother used to work for Molly Brown. That woman fought so hard to keep Pungo, Sandbridge, and the whole back bay area from being developed. When she retired, all her work did too.
Thank you for your informations and honesty sharing ! My husband and I we're just there a week ago some enjoyment some are not sightseeing and activities are right there that I do like, my dislikes is the loud jet noise 2nd are high cost of bar and restaurants and others didn't get a change to use the beach we made our trips so early in the season too cold but then I don't like crowded places over vacationing again TY
I would just like to add for viewers in addition do not live at this apartment complex in Virginia Beach. I still regret the day I did. th-cam.com/video/y3brgTKo8Cs/w-d-xo.html
I've lived in the Hampton Roads area nearly my entire life...I an count on my fingers and toes how many times actually VISITED Virginia Beach...way too much traffic ...makes for summer traffic backups a daily thing...Once you get to the "beach area" , prepare to give up your firstborn for parking fees!! The BEST plae to go as THE BEACH is Sand Bridge Beach...AWESOME beach, WAVES...REAL waves..and away from the touristy stuff....
Love ❤️ your video. I wish l could convince my hubby to buy a second home in Virginia Beach instead of Florida. We are in our mid 50s and will be retiring in 4-5 years. My family is from Virginia and l grew up going to the Ocean Front when there was nothing there 😂. I use to take my kids for two weeks every year. I still go once a year. I enjoy the evolution, the touristy hustle and bustle of the boardwalk . I have seen condos within walking distance to the Oceanfront ( which would be a requirement for me) . I am not interested in the other beaches which are nice , quiet and more for locals. You can still get deals below 5th Street for the mid $300s. We don’t need amenities or a lot of bells and whistles or exorbitant condo fees for a part-time home. I know Virginia Beach has changed its rules on short term rentals. That definitely is a negative factor. Wishing you continued success and blessings.
Been living in VA for 6 years, from Michigan. Weather is a pro for me! Weather varies a lot, but it's never bad to me. Traffic sucks, but it's because people can't drive here. Everybody is in such a hurry and ride up on you so bad. Plus, no one uses blinkers. Also, one huge con for me that nobody ever mentions is paying property tax on cars. I never heard of paying property tax on a car until I moved here. Virginia is made for tourist and military families. Being an unmarried civilian, cost of living is horrible.
I imagine coming from Michigan the weather is a plus. Wasn’t aware of the property tax issue either compared to other places. Appreciate the info and thanks for checking out my video!
Is it bad for Virginia or bad for a major city? I come from so cal and looking at avg rush hour traffic on google maps, compared to other major cities, it looks amazing.
I have to laugh at him saying traffic is bad since i'm from so cal. I looked at google maps, avg traffic for morning and afternoon rush hour and it looks like a dream!
Very nice. As someone who lived in so cal and then on a military post...you get used to the airplane noise. It becomes white noise you don't notice most of the time unless it's flying directly over you and low.
@@LifeinHamptonRoadsVA Hey quick question, I will be moving to VB within 6-8 months and quite frankly, don't really like the realtor I found on google(despite the good reviews). It feels like he's pushing me to buy ASAP and kind of short with my questions. You seem like a good guy who knows his stuff. Will you be my realtor :)
I grew up in Hampton Roads and the worse thing in my opinion was the TRAFFIC. Always bumper to bumper and the worst drivers in the world must live there too. What's a turn signal ???? They have no clue. I live in mid Michigan now and traffic is GREAT !!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 “Traffic” this is so laughable because the traffics are so pointless. Like Nova traffic makes ALOT more sense because it’s very dense and crowded and a lot of folks work in Dc and the top part of Nova. Hampton roads traffic is just a bunch of slow drivers physically and mentally
I know this was for living in Virginia Beach, but I actually watched this as being one of the enemies you spoke about; tourist 😁😂 I will be visiting the next couple of summers... But, it was still very informative to me... My biggest con concern you gave me was about the traffic... I have had vacations ruined because of traffic... Trying to get to different activity locations. I am surprised by 2 pros you didn't mention... First, all the watersport activities... But, that might be more of a tourist thing. But, how as a pro for Virginia Beach, do you not mention THE BOARDWALK??? 🤷🤷♂🤷♀
While the traffic down at the boardwalk can be troublesome, sometimes, it definitely will not ruin your vacation. Funny, you mention the water sports as I was just out on the boat today, will have to mention that next time. As far as the boardwalk goes, I guess this video was from a locals perspective and most locals try to avoid the boardwalk. But as I said in the video tourism is what makes the city go and we’re glad to have them. I really appreciate you checking out the video and I hope you enjoy your vacation down here.
@@LifeinHamptonRoadsVA Thanks for the informative reply... I'm glad traffic may only possibly be troublesome, but won't ruin the vacation. I can understand how locals feel about the boardwalk. I live in New York City... All tourists go to Manhatten. Yet, I have no interest in taking the annoying traffic-filled ride to Manhattan or even the easier subway ride to the ultra-crowded Manhattan.
@@LifeinHamptonRoadsVA ok. Sure will. I do have questions work wise.. I seen the percentage you listed ect. But as far as a working man goes is there good opportunities and in the next 5 years do you see a increase or decrease in u employed folk?
Good thing about our area is we have the Military and the Beach. Therefore they're usually is always a need for jobs related to tourism and also military contractors or the shipyards. I don't see that changing in my opinion.
I would just like to add for viewers in addition do not live at this apartment complex in Virginia Beach. I still regret the day I did. th-cam.com/video/y3brgTKo8Cs/w-d-xo.html
There is no PRO to living anywhere in this area. I have 104 days and I am out of here. Moving here has been the biggest regret in my life! Nothing but crime, nothing to do, everybody has a boulder on their shoulder, and nobody knows how to say hello.
@@WyldStallion-bs9oo Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Hampton, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Suffolk, get out! This entire area is trash! @@Tzippi I hope that wherever you go next, it will be a much more pleasant experience. I'm planning on moving away from Virginia Beach myself. It has changed in the last five to six years or so, and I'm originally from the Northeast. That Southern hospitality is not here. Again, I have met very few natives of Virginia since I've been here. I hope things turn around for you for the very best. Take care of yourself.

That’s the whole mid Atlantic region area for you. It’s the same in DC and Maryland and NC
