    Got my first knitting machine last week and managed to get the (very stuck!) carriage running thanks to this!
    Tip to anyone else despairing if one of the drums is not lifting no matter how hard you try: thread a piece of twine under the drum and use it to pull the drum out (turning it while pulling it up helps, as does adding some oil to the top and any of the bottom of the shaft that starts showing)
    Thank you !!!

    Great video, thank you. Followed it to the letter and the carriage now looks very clean and the drums are both free flowing. Just to put it back together now. Thanks.

    Thank you so much!
    I was gifted a Knitmaster 700 and though I'm an avid knitter, I don't know the first thing about knitting machines.
    Your videos are a godsend!

    Thanks so much for this video! I have a stuck drum on the carriage of my 700 and i really want to get it out as illustrated here, BUT the screws on the inside that are holding it in are very very stuck. I don’t know what to do as I fear I am about to strip the star formation on top of them from trying to unscrew them. Any ideas?

    • @scarletpeate
      @scarletpeate  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmmm OK. Here's my thoughts. First. Surgical spirits on the screws. Then some freeing oil. Such as Wd40 as you will clean it off. Then the best quality. Fitting screw driver. As cheap ones are soft metal. Often too pointed and shred the screw. Make sure the head and driver fit tightly. Push hard down and unscrew. That's the nest options. And if it greats. Try Spartan for parts. But I've never head it spoil if using quality screw driver .. let me know how you go. Xx good luck

    Thanks for you very informative videos. I have just bought 2 machines as I’m getting back to my craft I will be servicing the 700 as the carriage needs it. What cleaning oil do you use?

    • @scarletpeate
      @scarletpeate  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your very welcome. I use surgical spirits. Or de natured alcohol. Abd sewing machine oil if you can't buy knitting machine oil.

      Thanks Scarlet! Do you still use WD40 on maintenance. Im in the uk so any suggestions would be great. Years ago when I bought my first 2nd hand 360, after stripping it down I soaked it in a very hot bath to melt and dislodge old oils and then re oiled oiled before putting back together. Worked like a dream. Don’t think I want to attempt that with this one lol

      It is a no no. Oil. But. Saying that I will use it to free something then clean off and oil appropriatly.

    Someone obviously loosened the nut on the right main drum my husband tightened it from the inside it still isn’t patterning on one side. The drums have been cleaned underneath and are spinning freely. The fingers on the right side seem loose

    the one drum on my new to me Zippy plus is jammed. One drum spins freely, the second all the pins are in the down position and it won't move. How do you fix it and what caused it? Thanks, Patty in Holland

      @scarletpeate  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. There could be yarn stuck around the drums. It could be very old oil... That goes sticky. It will need stripping down... I have 2 or 3 videus on exactly how to do this on similar models.. It's quite easy to strip and fix.

    Thank you for this very well made video! I just have an issue I'm somehow not able to solve and I am hoping you might be able to give me a hint. I cleaned my drums, they run perfectly, all small parts are fine but when I knit with punchcards, the needle actions are not a 100% accurate and it only happens in one direction. So it has to be a problem of those two drums from that one side but I just can't find out what causes it, since it only occurs occasionally and on random parts of the drums. Do you have any idea what the problem could be? Thank you so much!!

    • @scarletpeate
      @scarletpeate  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh such kind words thankyou. .. mm have You checked that every one of the blades is on. .. have you taken off the punchcard mechanism. Clean and grease it thoroughly. Surgical spirits and a brush. I think though if it's just very random. I think it's your sponge bar. It should be bouncy and thick . Not at all flattened. I think this is the issue. Please let me know

      Thank you so much for your help! I cleaned and greased the punchcard reader, it was already pretty perfect, but I did it anyways ;) and I still have the problem. But I'm now pretty certain it is the sponge bar, it is still elastic, but not like a new sponge, so I just ordered a new foam :) I will let you know if it works, once I changed it.

    • @laurenluckert7738
      @laurenluckert7738 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The sponge bar arrived and after putting the new one I still had the problem, but then I found what was causing it. I had to disassemble the needle bed and unscrew the card reader from the case and slightly push it towards the needle bed, apparently it was maybe half a millimetre too far from the needle bed, therefore it sometimes, but very rarely, couldn't transfer the pattern correctly. Such a simple solution, but a pretty long way to figure that out ;D
      Thanks for your help! All the best!
      Lauren
