So in this case I had a small chunk of common fire starter in the middle to help it get going. I think in the video I show myself stuffing it down the middle ... But directly to your question, lighting the Swedish torch in the firebox could be done with just sticking a well lit stick in the middle. I often stick a piece of fat wood in the middle to get it lit as well.
