Hi, to me it makes more sense playing this build as condi qdps. Playing condi grants you access the "rock solid" trait which grants aoe stability in addition to boons granted by your jade sphere. The new catalyst update makes quickness catalyst much better while condi weaver is already very good if you want to play condi dps. Scepter weaver is basicly fire- earth-fire-earth etc... with fire elemental as elite you get 40k dps very easily.
@rm-vn1eq condi qdps is good, and it's essentially equal to the open world build I propose here. In general I'm not sure whether you watched the entire video, because you're partially repeating things I say in the open world section. Rock solid is a "solid" option (huehuehue), but comes at a noticeable damage loss. You lose the bleeding from boulder blast and signet of earth + ~100 condi damage. And it doesn't have to be either or, you can play it as cdps, qdps and solo in open world. Same applies to weaver and tempest. They're all good enough, so pick whatever you enjoy playing. With catalyst, you get qdps and cdps in one go without learning several rotations.
@@MaselMMO Dps wise, lesser fire elemental is better than signet of earth so you can swap them for instance content and it will reduce the dps loss from rock solid. For open world it's a bit more annoying as elementals die if you use your mount (same for your elite). As a qdps build it doesn't really matter losing a few dmg for a party-wide stability which can potentially prevent a wipe or a major dps loss from your whole team. But seriously, scepter has the same dps as pistol so you're complicating it for not much reason. The only good reason to use pistol in pve is that it has very low power ratios which means that you can use trailblazer or ritualist gear at very few dps cost and so be very tanky or have an insane boon uptime.
May i offer one piece of information regarding the open world build…relic of the astral wards works with signets and solves any condi problem 😊 Yeah a bit less dps because of fractal relic but i prefer it because it not only cleanses but additionally gives resistance which is an awesome boon to have in open world 😊 Additionally then the build officially has all the boons except alac 😂 Or choose relic of rivers and have alac instead 😂😂
@@hilding2063 spear is a power weapon and one that isn't really simple to execute. Even the power tempest with spear is more difficult than scepter. So while it is fun, it's just not a beginner friendly weapon for elementalist
@@MaselMMO Thank you for the quick response. Well what is beginner friendly for Ele anyhow. It was my first and most played class since GW2 release with over 800 hours but I would not consider myself good with it. It's just the nature of the class and the mechanics that makes it so much more complex compared to a power reaper for instance. The pistol for some reasons frequently stops auto attacking for me and it seems to require more line of sight compared to other weapons. My personal favorite for Ele is Dagger or Sword so far.
@@hilding2063 it's a common misconception that elementalist is more complex or difficult than other professions. try condition tempest with scepter and focus for example. @@hilding2063One way I get around the pistol noise is using the hand crossbow skin for pistol. It has a much more muted sound. Does restrict your fashion wars but is huge QOL for those of us annoyed by constant pistol fire.
It's nice that you do these videos. Thank you. That said, if a rotation requires any form of weapon swapping/kits/Atunement swapping it's already too difficult to be an easy build. True easy builds are condi virtuoso and power mechanist with sword/pistol and throw mine instead of grenade kit.
Easy=/=low intensity, nor should it. Button mashing builds are easy, because they do not care about rotations or particular trait uptimes, and I would argue this Catalyst build falls under that category. It does not require much brain power. That's what makes it easy. It is technically even easier than condi virt, btw, because virt players need to keep an eye on their blade count, which shatter is coming up next, resetting their phantasms, deadly blades uptime, etc... It can be simplified down to "press these key skills and then filler," but the build itself is actually quite complex. Low intensity builds like Signets Mechanist or the literal autoattack Guardian are builds centered around low APM (actions per minute). They can be as complex as they need to be, their timing might be very tight or very loose, but what defines these is their low amount of button presses. This, the Catalyst absolutely is not. And that's ok. Because it isn't trying to be.
@@omegasrevenge as @sheenamalfoy wrote, there's layers to difficulty and different goals in a build. Low intensity is tailored for players who don't want to or can't handle many different buttons to press. They place high emphasis on low number of cooldowns to track and low apm. My builds are tailored to provide an easy entry point into an elite specialization of choice. This includes more than a consideration of number of different buttons & apm. If you want to know more about the idea/aspects of difficulty I have in mind when making these builds, you can read this: wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/User:Masel/DPSBuildGuideLines In particular the section on understanding and measuring difficulty. It's WIP, but the basics are there already.
Hi mediocre player here, i have questions, i have avr 100-175 ping, but i always only reach 80 percent benchmark dps, is that normal or is there something i done wrong.. Those 80 percent also comes on simple rotation character.. Anyone can give insight?
@@torok8974 well, what makes it boring to play for you? Which build are you talking about? How could one make it not boring? Are you talking about catalyst in general or this variant in particular? @@jethrojangles9541 pretty sure class fantasy has very little to do with how fun/engaging it is to play certain builds. Doing rotations on a golem is admittedly not fun, but doing encounters that are challenging can be very fun and playing a class that you understand while going against those bosses is even more fun. Going against players can also be very fun and Catalyst has very good builds for pvp/wvw. Now I'm curious why you were watching this video since you think catalyst as a whole is 'boring' to play.
