This has happened to four of them in my experience. Is this mini-PC powerful enough for everyday computing? Well, to replace my NUC (which died due to fan failure) I built a desktop mATX system around an i5-14500 (6 performance cores, 8 efficiency cores, 770 iGPU), and I find it spends its day mostly cruising at under 10 watts, like its incredibly bored with me. Some people are reporting trojans in the OS. I don't know if that's baked into os or into BIOS, I will not buy it if it comes with a trojan can you please verify this?
I guess if you bought second hand its possible but at £500 in the UK this is a great value proposition that would be powerful enough for all but the hardcore gamers
I like the idea of a mini pc that doesn't take much space on the desk but at the same time I don't get it. I mean I don't see me carrying with the computer and the peripherals in a backpack.
It’s quite a niche product but were these shine is someone who wants a compact desktop but doesnt need the power of a huge desktop and massive gfx card. These mini PCs are incredibly powerful still and I was amazed how much work and play I was able to get done without ear splitting fan noise. People looking for a media centre or maybe a pc for kids these are excellent and very affordable. The fact I could even play finals was the icing on the cake for me
I use a height-adjustable side table with wheels in my living room which has two 4K displays clamped to it, which I use for my day job as a software developer. This can be detached and taken to my bedroom where I have a projector mounted behind the bed. Carrying this in a backpack with a portable display is hardly any different from carrying a laptop with peripherals. I'd much rather type on a Launch keyboard than a laptop, and I'd much rather have extra space for multiple 4K displays than have an extra laptop awkwardly sitting beside my main display.
I dont disagree that most people would be better served with a desktop but I can still see a use for these devices, especially when they are priced well. On Beelink UK you can get this device for £500 with 32gb/1tb and this would make an amazing media centre/gaming box for the lounge
Laptops are prone to critical hardware failure, and are much more difficult to repair. I've never had a laptop survive more than a few years, while desktops are still operating strong 10 years later. There's no battery to be concerned about generating heat, swelling, and damaging components. This has better thermals than a laptop, so the CPU is able to sustain higher frequencies for longer. You can attach this to multiple 4K displays without needing to reserve room for a laptop with a small 16" screen beside them. You can bring your own mechanical keyboard, which is better than any laptop keyboard to date. Overall, this is much better for use in a workstation than a laptop, and yet versatile enough to be plugged anywhere. Be that a small side table, a living room TV, a projector, etc.
With the newest AMD Ryzen 300 mobile chips shipping next month, now is the absolute WORST time to buy this mini PC. Especially with the improved 800M graphics on board the new SOC. You are giving poor advice! Wait until the new model with updated performance.
You are absolutely correct. The new AMD AI 9 HX 370 is a beast. 16-core GPU compared to the current 12-core 780M. I will wait for a mini PC with that chip built in.
By your logic then with my poor advice I should not look at any PC until the new range of chips. then what do I do when the next CPU or GPU rumours come out? All I can do is test the equipment that I receive now, which I do. And I stand by the fact that this is a solid device, quiet with great CPU performance and OK gpu performance that is priced well. Sure the new mobile chips could be great and so could the new ARM snapdragon but I do not have them yet
it really wasn't worth shouting about. the ryzen NPU has pretty low TOPS (similar to intel meteor lake). I will try and look into it with more depth when I get hold of the new snapdragon CPUs as they allegedly offer over 2.5x more TOPS

I have a couple of builds in ITX on the channel to give you an idea but they are much smaller than the MATX case I just built but also much more expensive
Would make for a sweet Linux machine.
Running Pop OS with the COSMIC Epoch desktop environment on my Beelink SER8. Along with doing some Folding@Home on the iGPU and CPU while developing code.
@@mmstick Funny enough I was also thinking of buying a SER8 to run Pop OS.
@@ShawnLangford Works great. Using a 4K 144 Hz display with a 4K 60 Hz display in a vertical orientation beside it.
@@mmstick You sold me on it. Thanks for the feedback.
going to be a lot quieter mounted to the back of your monitor.
true and would certainly consider doing that if I kept it in the same place regularly
@@MashITTech could be a challenge, on second thought.. wouldnt want to restrict airflow, maybe attach with a bunch of velcro attached to the solid top..
im having a lot of bluetooth and 2.4gz issues with my keyboard and also my mouse lagging duing video playback.. esp if i try to play any game if these things worked, it would be great
Some people are reporting trojans in the OS. I don't know if that's baked into os or into BIOS, I will not buy it if it comes with a trojan can you please verify this?
Where did you hear about this? Are you sure you are not getting confused with the Ace Magic PCs that were caught with malware in the OS?
Hi, quick question can this mini pc handle to play palworld?
looking at the minimum specs it should run fine but you will probably need to lower some settings or use FSR
@@MashITTech oh ok thank you for replying.
❤ Mash it es un huevoncito. ¿Sabes lo que es un "huevoncito"?
haha I have no idea please enlighten me, it is not a saying we have in English
Nice review, but the price of this thing you could build a decent gaming PC from second hand parts that would far out perform it.
I guess if you bought second hand its possible but at £500 in the UK this is a great value proposition that would be powerful enough for all but the hardcore gamers
@@MashITTech out of interest where are you seeing it for £500?
direct from Beelink: www.bee-link.com/products/beelink-ser8-8845hs
So it does not work for your use case? Congratulations. It might work for other people's use cases, though.
@@Evilkingus I didn't say it didn't work for me, I just said you could build a better pc for cheaper. Don't be so defensive darling. 😘
The name choice is a bit unfortunate, SER in Finnish means "sähkö-, ja elektroniikkaromu", which translates to e-waste.
"productivity desk"
I never sit there, but then I am not productive!
Oh, what's that case in the intro?
That is the NZXT H5 Flow
@@MashITTech the really small one at the very start?
@@dorktales254 Oh so sorry, I forgot that one! Its the s400, here is the video for it: th-cam.com/video/8vL8GTc2jvo/w-d-xo.html
I am mounting my mini pc to the underside of my desk. Try that with a regular pc case 😂
Link purchase for the mini pc
Link me to that keyboard!
Would like to remove the bee logo. Is is possible?
Use liquid mercury
*looks for chemistry guys
Mac minis have a lot of ports…check it out before
Save your money, the Ryzen 8845HS is nearly identical to the 7940HS, just no improvements.
AYYYEEEE IM FIRST !!!!!
i havent bought a desktop in about 20 years.. i dont see the point of these mini pcs, just get a laptop which is 100x more versitile
Great story. Maybe others do.
You're always going to be waiting with that logic. Ryzen 300 is only a marginal improvement, and it won't be any cheaper.
@mmstick the new SOC is 20% faster CPU and 30% faster iGPU. That's worth waiting a month or two.
@@bearzilla2462 It will take several months maybe a year before you see a brand new apu in these mini pc's
NO THUNDERBOLT CONNECTOR AT ALL. ????????
.................... YEAH I'M OUT COULDN'T CARE LESS ABOUT THIS.
thunderbolt is intel, it has USB4 which can do pretty much all that thunderbolt can do (EGPU, Fast data transfer etc)
Where is the AI thing? .. you didn't show anything about it.
it really wasn't worth shouting about. the ryzen NPU has pretty low TOPS (similar to intel meteor lake). I will try and look into it with more depth when I get hold of the new snapdragon CPUs as they allegedly offer over 2.5x more TOPS
Too expensive. With same money you can buy a budget gaming laptop with 2x the performance.
Not even in our dreams is that possible.
Where can you find a $600 gaming laptop that could handle 2x performance? You r just funny 😂
