Having played through the Souls series, Elden Ring, Bloodborne, I’ve never had a boss press me like this one did. I was crushing the game until I got here, to emphasize my love for this fight and music, I was in a really bad spot emotionally and mentally at the time. Everytime I got just a bit closer at killing this boss I felt myself coming back to life almost, when I finally toppled him I swear my neighbors must’ve though I was watching a hockey game with how loud I yelled in excitement. I always read people give Dark Souls credit for helping depression, this boss fight in a way saved my life.

I'm pointing out that this person didn't just go and create a finely tuned OP build that massacres him in 5 seconds and instead captured the truly difficult fight that happens the first time you stumble in
@@Embers73 the energy pulse of Balteus is just pure bullshit, you need a lightweight mech to get clear when that close with quick boosts. anything medium to heavy is too slow to clear.
@@seinyaaa4504 not enough time to swap from hardlock and use it, the indicators are very minimal and sometimes even the Ayre spiel to get clear happens mid energy wave.
My fav BOSS of all time,topped things like maliketh, vergil beowulf from dmc3 or Daimon of dd, the second balteus fight is good, but is literally a whole different fight, we need inner balteus or a modded berserk balteus lol

Nice fight and very clean finish. It was a lot more frantic for me after "the enemy can't take much more" bit. I literally hugged him and spammed everything I got, thinking loudly "GET DOWN, GET DOWN, GET DOWN, GET DOWN, GET DOWN, GET DOWN, GET DOWN, GET DOWN, GET DOWN, GET DOWN ALREADY, YOU PIECE OF ****!!!!!" at like, 300ish PP, with no repair kits left. Ahhhh... I like to think that Ayre rooting for me throughout the fight gave me the motivation I needed to keep going.
An absolutely incredible boss imo, honestly keep replaying the mission to attempt to recapture the high. As someone who grew up with the early PS1-2 games and fell out of it a bit with the 360/PS3 games due to time and (mostly) money as a teen AC6 is my absolute Game of the Year. I lost it at the reveal and the game itself lived up to the hype for me

If it was ace combat yes flares. But in a dying world of AC I'm not paying the expenses from my stories to use flares. I will dodge ur missles and unload he'll fire. I'll free up a spot for a shield before I spend my merc cash on flares.
Ive been at this boss for 12 hours straight, i have the correct build i cant dodge his attacks for the life of me cuz im a boomer and my hands dont work

My second one would be the Ibis boss fight. The others are hard for sure but I don't despise it as much as this sucker. I hate Balteus with passion.
Use assault boost to get past the missiles and use quick boost to dodge the howitzer after you hear the alert sound. Its best to jump and QB since its an explosive round. Have the laser cannon and plasma gun on your right, and have a blade and the grenade cannon as your left hand weapons. Energy weapons for the shield, blade then switch to grenade once he's vulnerable.
The appearance scene gives the impression that the protagonist is not launching a surprise attack or coordinating with friendly forces, but rather appears solely to ordeal the protagonist. I felt that there was a different base (such as Dark Souls) than Armored Core.
Y'know Miyazaki and the devs is cracked when they haven't made another AC since 2012 and then created one that absolutely immediate banger and knows how to do it at the same time making elden ring
The game is All about LEARNING Anything else is a you problem. I learned the boss, and danced his Waltz for DAYS. And I had the most fun out of any game I've played since Ace Combat 04. Yellow 13, anyone?
Apologies on the late reply, may not be relevant now but figured I would chime in. The weapon description on the Pulse Blade states "...Delivers slashing attacks with high frequency oscillation that are ideal for canceling out pulse defenses..." Same thing with the pulse rifle. They just eat up his shield.
I used the same Tank duel machine gun build that got me through 5 and VD. Always found machine guns to be amazing in AC barring costs… This fight was amazing.
I dont mind spoilers. So i watched this boss fight before buying, I got delected with the appearance and mechanics of balteus, then When I bought this game, the cutscene got me all like "OH YES ITS TIME, THIS IS IT"
Lost to this boss about 4 times now, though my issue is my AC is too slow dodging those missiles so i get stun locked to death constantly, and ill suited to taking down those pulse shields fast enough with duel 3 burst assault rifles. Gonna run the fastest mech i can and pair it up with pulse gun and pulse laser. They're hard counters to this fight from what im learning, also duel energy cannons are so good against practically anything that isnt fodder though i may have to sacrifice those if i want a faster build for this fight. Might go with the hardest hitting missiles on the shop once im done grinding for cash. Taking a mini break for now though. Just burnt out for the time being lol.
One thing that's tough for a lot of people to get used to with Armored core (and this has always been true) is adjusting your whole loadout to suit a specific boss. I was pretty stubborn myself, and used the basic rifle and saber with two of the default missiles. It's important to have a short QB recovery against Balteus, and rapid weapons can help bring down its barrier
@@Thrybald yeah, even the steam discussions are full of the " i played all the AC's and i never had to change my loadout before" yueah.. never played AC1-3 i guarantee it, 4 answer hand held alot in comparison to 1-3, anyone who played the originals knew you built to suit the mission, when you could, some missions where meant to be difficult and walled the next upgrades that would have given you an edge in the fight, as a kind of reward for mastering your AC and the customization.

You may have beaten it by now, but I was trying to beat this boss with the Nachtreiher Mech + the jumping legs (going for full mobility). But that build didn't work out for me... Ended up using the Medlander Mech with duo 8x vertical launcher, the laser blade and a plasma rifle. That did the trick for after more failures than I can count with the Nachtreiher Mech xD In chapter 2 I went back to the mobile mech though :D
the Machine Gun you get from doing the tutorial missions, dual wield those, they shred the shield pretty fast, combined with a blade to do extra dmg when he's staggered, and a missile launcher and you can get him down really fast

This is just like Dark Souls/Elden ring where you spend 90% of the fight perfectly timing dodges. The bosses barely have any stagger and they just relentlessly spam barrages at you, not even in the same order. I was looking at this game but after playing through Dark souls 1, 2 and 3 already im not sure if i can stomach more of it..

I switched to a super lightweight dual machine gun build, with a pulse blade in reserve. Chase him around, dont let him create distance, and I beat him that way. Hope that helps. Lol theres so many harder encounters, Im stuck on an encounter that isnt really even a boss fight in chapter 3 rn.
I shall try to coach you - I was struggling yesterday too. Build a frame with a high load and AC like Ti Qiang - Use the bubble pulse weapon on both arms to annihilate his shields and then the shoulder mounted laser cannons for burst damage during staggers. Use the boost that increases AB boost efficiency. At start, boost through the missles directly towards Balteus, use kick if unlocked at the end of the charge. Dodge a few times as the missles hit and then unload all bubbles from close range to lower shields. Might take a couple loops before you stagger him but when you do you can get off around 3 laser shots for massive damage. Be aggressive during his missles as they dont track well if they're converging back towards him. Just stay close to him and keep an ear out for the boop that means he's firing a missle at you directly and dodge sidewards to avoid. When you get him to halfway he will start using flame attacks with massive AOE, and you will need to either back off or use a few dodges to avoid before moving back in to close range to waste his shield/stagger him with your bubbles. Whenever he uses the missile attack he will be rooted in place and now is the perfect time to play aggressive and close distance. Just remember to dodge a few seconds after you close the distance and keep your ears listening for the boops for when the cluster will hit so you can string a few dodges as they do. Hope this helps!

A big part of what I struggled with is I would get impatient and rush in to get its shields as soon as possible, but you can take your time with the shields since they don't regen like stagger does. And then when he pulls the fire sword out GET FAR AWAY UNTIL HE CHILLS

I like this video a lot. I feel it captures Balteus the best. Getting to see all of its moves. And its mobility. Few other videos capture this.

it's tough for a lot of people because you don't assume that you need to die in order to know how to adjust your loadout accordingly.

It is not a soulslike. Outside of a stagger, it's not even similar.
I hate the term soulslike so much! Now we have fools like this using it to say every single game ever made is “soulslike”. There where games before Dark Souls, and there will be many more after it…. Learn a new word, and maybe do some research too.

Hey friend, have you tried changing your build? I was stuck on this one too. But I decided to change my legs to the tank ones, spam pulse cannons and as shotgun it up close. No skill was required.

A big part of what I struggled with is I would get impatient and rush in to get its shields as soon as possible, but you can take your time with the shields since they don't regen like stagger does. And then when he pulls the fire sword out GET FAR AWAY UNTIL HE CHILLS

@@Jexnic504 that is the starter middle and arms. sword is likely upgraded. rifle is the plasma rifle.

@@KrullKama why not, you get a higher damage output sword pretty early in the game, why not use it?
@@exiteternium Different swords do different things. I personally prefer the one with wider swings, but the damage is pretty similar.
