She did gain weight in the late 80s. I think people still unfortunately dog on her to this day about it. But in recent years she looks really good, doesn’t have a weight problem or anything anymore. I have to look half as good as she does when I’m her age!!!! 💛💖💗💗💗

I don’t care what they look like now! We all age & we all change. Most of them lived hard lives and I’m glad they are still on earth. All I care about is they entertained us and when I hear certain songs it brings me right back to a era, a memory, a moment. They were a part of my life & for that I’m grateful.

That all being said, I *couldn't* agree with you more (a similar construction of an expression). Ann has, and always had, a beautiful and powerful voice, and she brought profound emotion to the songs.
Ann Wilson was the opening act for Jeff Beck in 2018 and her voice and energy are amazing.
Heavy-set female singers are nothing shocking. Opera is full of them. If they can belt out the tunes, who cares?

About 20 years ago, my wife at the time got me tickets to go see Kiss which I never did when I was a kid. I was saying that I'm getting too old for these concerts but did go anyway. I got there and quickly came to the realization that I got a little older, the band got a little older and so do everyone else in the building. I never worried about it again and have seen many concerts since.
Seen Marshal Tucker Band at Bald Hill. Next day was his 75 birthday. Everybody at concert was a older crowed. He is very funny. Like all the other rock bands when members change the music is different.

I'm 56 & still love going to concerts! My favorite part... yes, the crowd is getting older, but they're bringing their kids & introducing them to some kick-ass music! I just went to see Falling In Reverse & Disturbed with my brother & he brought his 11 year old to her 1st concert ever! Her mind was blown, (so was mine, it was an excellent concert!!!)!!

Ann Wilson has always been gorgeous and, more importantly, an awesome singer. Any criticism of her is entirely unnecessary.
She's a great vocalist. Her weight though.......it's a bit unique situation vs what other "big girls" in music face. Ann Wilson is hardly the first person Female or Male that put on a lot of weight as they aged. So why is her critque different and often is seems more harsh than most? Ann shared the stage with a sister who didn't get "big" as time passed. So while you can argue that the critique is unnecessary vs her abilities as a vocalist (I agree BTW)..... the fact remains you couldn't help but look at the Wilsons sisters on stage together and it only AMPLIFIES that weight gain Ann experienced and Nancy avoided.
@@stevejewell9263 I've seen footage of her talking candidly about it, and she states that her weight has always fluctuated, so it's not necessarily down to her aging. Regardless, I've always found her to be just as, if not more, attractive as/than Nancy but that's just personal taste. Utterly irrelevant to her abilities as a singer, of course.

I have always admired Ann Wilson and even copied her hairstyles and clothes. She had the best voice of most female singers at the time, and she still does. I think she is just as beautiful as she was back in the day. So what if she gained weight? She is still the same lady with the great voice.

"Making it" as a musician in Canada is/was and will always be a hit and miss gamble !!! the real corporate demise of live showcase stage music and crap CD audio quality !!! In the late 70's you could almost afford the big rig breaking show !!! Carry that across Canada for peanut butter sandwiches and tent farts !!! But I'm glad I was there to live through it !!! Ann's maybe strained yet clear notes were harmonic voicings that I'll always remember being focused on and as a bass player it worked for me . Thankfully I still have good body weight and my health !!! Smile , Chris Canada Just an observation

Ann Wilson should forget those trolls who focus on her weight, Heart was the best female R&R band. Jon Bon Jovi continued to play well beyond when he should have retired because he could no longer hit his famous high notes. Singing as much as he did ruined his voice.

I saw Heart in 1977 in Seattle after the Album Little Queen came out. I feel fortunate to have been there! Heart as a band was at the heights of their talent and fame.
Doesnt matter, everybody ages. Some singers still look really good. Jon Bon Jovi has aged very well and so has Tommy Kiefer. Glad they can still sing. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Not all steroid use is long term. I've been on short term steroids many times for allergy related things like poison ivy, anaphylaxis, asthma, etc. Other meds, such as antidepressants, can cause weight gain too, as well as conditions such as Cushing syndrome and hypothyroidism, so I don't know.

I never thought I'd come across this in Australia, but I had some students about 10 years ago whose parents were huge Bon Jovi fans. Thus, the elder son was named Jovi. The younger son was named Bon.

Jon Bon Jovi still looks great ...partly because he's certainly kept himself in shape, but also because he's accepted that he's grown up, and isn't attempting to ape what he used to look like 30 years ago. He also has a good heart, helps the homeless, etc. He's a good role model. And Rod Stewart's career was flourishing in the late 60s and early 70s. That's more or less 50 years ago, not 30! He's not actually going to look or sound like he did back then. Plus he had throat cancer and a few other health issues, which made him change how he sang and what he sang. Patti Smith looks more or less the way she's always looked, only now she's got grey hair. I reckon youth culture needs to get real. Youth doesn't last, does it? Nobody should expect it to. Just enjoy it while it's happening, then move on?

Since then she has sold over 160 million albums worldwide. Melanie is fighting to regain her rights to her music after her now dead husband sold those rights without her knowledge.
