    Something I’ve noticed it’s that in the MV for Chlorine Tyler has a cup of some sort of liquid but it seems Tyler is uncomfortable with it in The Hype MV he has a Capri sun and it also shows in the Stressed Out MV. I feel like the Capri sun can represent their past and their roots while in Chlorine he has this much adult type cup. If Ned represents Tyler’s Creativity then maybe that’s why he doesn’t like it. Maybe he’ll enjoy the Capri sun more.

    • @casmatix
      @casmatix 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think you can safely go with the flannel, in my opinion it's more of a positive symbol and stands for comfort and positivity - I'll paste the comment I've written before here for you.
      Actually, I see it the other way around. I see the flannel as a positive symbol for something that helps you and gets you through dark times.
      A few reasons for why I think that way:
      - Tyler unplugs his guitar right as he sings "Your exterior world can step off instead." I believe the first scene with the fans not really listening represents people (and the "exterior world" in general) being negative towards Tyler (he also doesn't appear too happy in that scene). Then, the video switches to the garage scene, representing a place where Tyler feels more comfortable. The people there care for him and are more positive. And him and Josh also wear more flannel - which I think stands for them feeling comfortable.
      - The first line Tyler sings in the garage is "It might take some friends and *a warmer shirt*" - and he's wearing more layers of flannel shirts.
      - Also, notice how the first two scenes play at night (possibly at some sort of a home party?), but in the rooftop scene, it's a sunny day. That already seems brighter and happier in general, and especially thinking about how heavily Tyler has used night and day as symbolism in his lyrics before.
      I believe the flannel is not a symbol for "The Hype" as a negative thing. I believe it is a symbol for comfort, for friends and family, and for positive people that are there for you and encourage you. As in "Nice to know my kind will be on my side".

    I have a therory that you didn’t mention on the video:
    When Josh gave Tyler the Capri sun at the end of the video he said that the flavor was strawberry. Maybe that’s a reference to blurryface. I think that the reference is about pressure still getting to him from time to time.

      Mak H. Basically, there are many hints about the possible new era colors. As for now, “ned-blue” and orange appear to be the most possible variants, and the theories about them make sense.

    • @scribblezrox13
      @scribblezrox13 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's my interpretation of it as well. Each scene is kind of showing a timeline of the different eras and the end is showing when the hype (or the massive current fame/fan base inevitably fades shown by the falling through the roof) is over, it will be just the two of them again with the memories (the taping to the wall) of everything.
      Just my thoughts on it

  • @lukebourgeois1663
    @lukebourgeois1663 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Tyler's bass changes when they go to the garage/second room. The bass in the first scene is the JAG bass that was used on the Blurry Face tour and the ERS. Then for the remainder of the video he uses the P bass that he used for most of the bandito tour. I think this may be symbolizing the writing process for the record. On an unrelated note there is a Hofner Ignition bass on the rack that Tyler puts his bass on. I don't know what this could mean but maybe it could be a hint at the next era (the hofner bass is commonly used by Paul McCartney of the Beatles). Josh's Drum head changes on his bass drum (the big one) at the end of the video to the Logo. His Josh also has more cymbals on the roof of the building as well. I think this could play into the growth of the band as a whole.

    Basically what i think the hype is about is that its from the POV of Nico and that he knwos hes doing wrong but has people supporting him his own Banditos and that even though things fall apart there's people cheering him on (on the roof and when the roof falls) so when things are internalized he's inc control but at the end of the music video Tyler is reminded it's all in his head so basically his own bad guy has a bad guy being us/Banditos
    more proof of being from Nico's POV Nico is called blurryface and when he's shone you can tell that he theoretically cant even see his own face and he says hear may way around meaning hes using another form of maneuvering also he says I'm a terrible sight so possibly refering to his scarred face and the fact he knows what hes doing is wrong but isn't believing the hype (basically what Tyler says in Neon Gravestones but referring to Dema) also when he says they may be talking behind your head your exterior world may step off instead i gotta step through or I'll dispate I'll record my tapes through on basement tapes so the first part meaning Dema/Banditos/Clancy is saying that hes bad news basically then the second meaning Dema will be out of his grasp if he lets this continue on he'll become no more then the basement tapes part I believe is a nod to Nico and the Niners about how Clancy is afraid and Nico knows about how Clancy is insubordinate the resetting in the end I think is how in Leave the City Tyler/Clancy knows that yes they won for now but Nico will return
    Edit: Dema in the bible is the friend of another person (forgot his name) but the guy was in charge of a church and he then lost his faith and ran away but Dema stayed loyal to that dude like Tyler and Josh so I believe thats what Morph is about

    I love how the video represents their storyline, but also they take a lot from the clique and also their music videos, and also the way when the roof stars falling apart is kind of like the hiatus and then trench when everything is fixing together. Also love how they finished with the caprisun it´s just like their lives besides the hype

    I also got the Screen vibe when he opened his chest. What came to mind throughout that video was "I'm standing in front of you,- everything together. trying to be so cool" but also what was said in the video.

    I start to think that Pop Song Professor is part of the Twenty One Pilots's team, disguising as a clique. He's here to make the theories alive and to make our thoughts about the meaning more driven. Because...
    How can he comes up with all the theories and DEEPER MEANING just right after they post something?!?!

    Tyler has talked about how there's a persona (kinda) that he puts on when in front of fans, but it takes a lot (in a conversation or something similar) to see who he "really" is, and songs are the bridge to that. Just thought it was kinda related?

  • @casmatix
    @casmatix 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Actually, I see it the other way around. I see the flannel as a *positive symbol* for something that helps you and gets you through dark times.
    A few reasons for why I think that way:
    - Tyler unplugs his guitar right as he sings "Your exterior world can step off instead." I believe the first scene with the fans not really listening represents people (and the "exterior world" in general) *being negative towards Tyler* (he also doesn't appear too happy in that scene).
    (Thanks for coming to my TED Talk...)

    Interesting thing I noticed: Josh is a constant. He doesn’t move, he’s always there.
    Also, I thought the puffs of dust coming off of them were bullets in reverse, coming from the fans. The broken plates, mirrors, etc. behind them were reversed.
    Super cool video! Now I’m going to try to find you in The Hype. 😄

    To me, it seemed like a callback to the "Ode to Sleep" video, showing their origins as they gradually get bigger crowds. Also a nice reference to the "there's a screen in my chest" line from "Screen" as Tyler has a screen or window in his chest.

    I believe that it represents his music evolution and career. Each scene/room represents a new album and a new hope for the band. When tyler turns off his guitar it represents a musical block or no motivation to create music. Self titled OR regional at best is in the living room, vessel is in the garage, blurryface is on the roof. I also believe that when he falls through the roof, it represents the hiatus. After that he has (and so have the fans) realised that he has believed the hype, and now made a song about it to his younger self! Just my thoughts on it.

    Prelude:
    "theres a screen on my chest..
    ..im standing in front of you"
    falling from the roof part:
    "I cant see fast my own nose Im seeing everything in slo-mo.
    Look out below crashing down to the ground just like a vertical locomotive
    ..."

    Many people have recognized in the intro "screen" and I checked out the lyrics, also I searched on Genius and other people have mentioned another song by Oasis "wonderwall". If you listen closely to the hype and wonderwall choruses, you'll notice not so many differences about the melody, but in particular screen and wonderwall say the same thing about "a person that save me",I think it's josh in that case.
    Another thing that I want to point out is that all the video Is separeted in three parts where explain separately the past, the present and the future of twenty one pilots. These parts are separated by the parts where Tyler
    wears off the bass. In the end of the video the house is probably a reference to chlorine specifically in the line "can you build my house with pieces" in fact appears the same thing in the video and Tyler returns in the present (you can see the difference in Josh's drums)
    P.S. all I wrote is obvious but I wanted to share this.

    Omg I loved this explanation! At first I was thinking that maybe the end was representative of losing popularity and fans (everything in the house going back to normal and everyone being gone) and that at the end of everything there would just be Tyler and Josh playing music together. idk if that makes any sense but I loved the music video

    i think the clothing choices represent trends and following them as well. the style in the beginning is simple and shows they’re doing their own thing. in the garage the style is a little more trendy but still simple. on the roof their outfits are mostly consisted of popular trends (patterned pants and shoes, same pattern different color, bucket hats and layering of clothes) when they fall back into the living room and take off all of the clothing and go back to simple outfits i think it represents how they’re not ones to follow trends. they would rather go at their own pace and have their own style instead of following what’s popular. like with their music, they went at their own pace with releasing new stuff and they don’t generally follow what’s popular on the radio
    sorry for the long paragraph but it was a thought

    One more thing:
    I think the white color refers to when they are truly themselves like when they get rid of all of their plaids. In the first scene on tyler's guitar there is white tape as well.

    Don’t forget about the growing crowds not only representing their success, but also being a nod to their videos! You’ve got the like 20 people (ode to sleep), then the roof (migraine) then the big crowd (car radio) the pieces of ceiling around them look like the petals from jumpsuit, the house and setup from stressed out, and the Capri suns, the same dance from levitate, and the NATN yellow taping, Dema in the picture, and somewhere there’s gotta be something for tear in my heart 😂 I know there’s gotta be more, but in my defense, I saw the video once, on a short break between rushes at work, so I know I’ll find more 😂 oh, and the ceiling caving in “you can’t put a ceiling on your dreams” anybody?
