Rie is really entertaining. Sometimes I wish the editing let her shine more. I think the editing would be more powerful if it appeared to be less scripted.
- Let's get Fancy doesn't need a segue line, I think it might be more entertaining in random unexpected spurts.
- Rie saying "Here's what I got" and "Make it Fancy" should just be natural (like it was a long time ago), it'll still sell merch but feel less artificially manufactured.
- Let the secondary hosts show more personality! I think it'd also be fun to have more random people come in to taste (producers, cameramen) and let people guess what was made fancy -- it'd give it the appearance of something more authentic.
- Also let Rie make her random jokes and tell stories from her life! About her day, about her lady, whatever.
- Let the videos run a bit longer! Most people are watching for her personality and not to follow the recipe anyway.
Well, I don't have any data so I don't know what performs best but this is just what I would personally enjoy.
tl;dr: i wish Rie's videos could be edited like the golden age of BA Test Kitchen videos, they feel way too manufactured right now.
They definitely are too scripted now. The whole reason Make It Fancy is what it has become is because of Rie. Her bubbly and fun personality, her skill as a chef, and her creativity with the elements she uses in her dishes. I feel like it was more fun and entertaining when make it fancy was more organic/stream of consciousness. The production value may not have been as high, but it was still great. It’s still good now, but I think the producers have kind of sucked some of the fun out of it by making it so scripted.
Oh i a 100% agree. I miss the old videos where she just tells anecdotes, makes some quips, the producer cracks jokes about her not driving on the highway 😂

Got a fun Make it Fancy challenge if Rie can do something with the Korean fire noodles. It's so tasty but obviously really spicy. Would like something that has the flavor and spice but just more toned down. I think Jungkook combined it with Neoguri but would be cool to see something more gourmet.

They had me at breakfast lol can’t tell you how much I love breakfast food! I initially thought Rie was going to make an omelette in this episode but I guess that was too simple! The route she took was even better! It looks amazing!

A little dollop of caviar would make it even more fancy! (It's not compulsory but I've seen eggs benedict and bagel sandwiches with the caviar garnishes!) Even without it it's really fancy and for those people who eat eggs and chicken (not me, I'm a vegetarian) I'm sure it's amazing!

A fun element to add to this show could be to add a budget and timeline. Like $25-50 and up to 2 hours. If we’re adding $100 worth of fresh groceries and 4 hours of cook time (not including film breaks) then it’s definitely fancy but maybe not worth recreating. (Not saying Rie did but would be helpful details!)
