    Just came across this, brilliant as usual for Noobys like moi. Can't wait to try it on the piano.
    BTW do you have a video about getting intra-finger independence?
    I've seen piano players playing a rhythm with their 1 and 2 fingers, and then using 3, 4 and 5 to do other notes to spice up the melody. I've tried slowing it down and still find it difficult to keep a steady beat. I even traded in my metronome for a piano and it doesn't work. I'd love to see how you approach this, since you really break things down to a simple level. That's a real talent.

    One question regarding this video; what is rhytmic looseness? 😆😆😉

  • @gtrdoc911
    @gtrdoc911 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Thanks Josef. Great lesson. I have a feeling most people that are saying "that looks easy" haven't actually tried it yet. It is deceptively difficult to consistently hit the "3 and" beat. Can u discuss when you would go for the "2 and" instead. Lots of old rock and Latin music seems to play that beat.

    • @Creativepianoacademy
      @Creativepianoacademy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, essentially you can create whatever rhythms you want. The 2+ has a bit of 50s jive about it but there's certainly nothing wrong with it. Create your own right rhythms and kleep the left going and see what they sound like.

    Very nice. 1st time ever in my piano progress, I can do this already! Yea! How about how to build turnarounds? There's some formula for that I'd imagine but I haven't figured it out. Thanks for all the help and inspiration! Be safe.

    • @Creativepianoacademy

    Josephs Happy Piano. Clicking on the cog at the bottom of the picture gives you the option of slowing, or speeding up the video, but at slower speeds, Jo, sounds as if he's happily had one too many. Above NORMAL is slower.

    Great vid I will try this later.. I'm new to piano and when I get a bit frustrated with notes and chords I switch off and leave it . And when I return to try again its easyier. I think frustration is my biggest prob. It clouds my thinking .

    • @Creativepianoacademy

      I know the feeling. Noticing your improvements however small tho is something. This riff is difficult to the beginner but not impossible. Take it real slow (use 50% speed on my vid if you want) and just try and feel that rhtyhm coming through the right hand!

    Great video, as usual, Josef. I've got both the left hand chop and the right hand riff down really well. What I would love to learn is the piece you play at the end (7.28 - 8.00). I'd be happy to try it from this video but some promo boxes obscure the view. Any chance of a tutorial on it or even just sheet music for it?

    Nearly 40 years ago a friend taught me this left-hand progression which has stuck with me. It's part of a song, possibly boogie woogie song or ragtime? I really want to know what the song is: I even tried playing it into Shazam to no avail. The first chord progression is: C2 C3 E2 F2 F2# G2 G1 G2, repeated 4 times. Then you go up the scale a bit to: F2 F3 A2 B2flat B2 C3 C2 C3 and repeat 4 times. And then up the scale a bit more to: B2flat B3flat D3 E3flat E3 F3 F2 F3 and repeat 4 time. Do you know what it is?

    The dull thudding sound on the keyboard when you play is really awful and spoils the effect of your playing. Would it not be better to play on a weighted keyboard?
