My great uncle drove a Peterbilt 362 on a Florida to New York and back route for years. Bill Underwood, I never got to meet him since he passed from cancer in the late 80's or early 90's. Got plenty of picture of him with his rig though. They say nobody had ever seen so many rigs in one spot when truckers came from all over to see him in the hospital. I'm not a trucker myself, but I have a great admiration for them, and always loved these big rigs. Y'all be safe out there
Hello Guys, I love the Cab Overs too. They're the English Bulldogs of the trucking world/that flat snout like a Bulldog, I'm into uniqueness and originality... Also the reason the Bulldogs are my favorite breed/Uniquely Different. Love the channel, Big Thanks.
It's a privilege to know Sherman Kerns and even be from the same town as him. He has a beautiful truck and is one of the best guys you'll ever talk too.
Porter greetings again. 🤩 Those who have cabovers are quite unique characters themselves! There’s NOTHING like a cabover!!! 🥰 Remember, Cabovers Rule and others drool!🇺🇸😎 I’m glad to visit this again…this cabover version is radical! 🤩🥰✌️
My dad hauled pipes out of harbor in Long Beach, Ca. in the early to mid 80's in a 69 K100 that was stretched out to the max. It was yellow. It had an 318 Detroit with short stacks. It was great to hear that thing roar going up the Grapevine! It's had a 16 speed Spicer. I miss riding in that rig. I wish he would've kept it because it would be mine today. It would be my dream cab over. My dream conventional would be an old stretched out 359.
Once you're in it you're in it? LOL As far as I'm concerned, the two most exciting days for a cab over driver is the day you get in it and the day you get out of it. My first ride and cabover was a 78 GMC Astro. I remember my early days of trucking I had to take the change out of my pocket and stick it in the cup holder and then I had to climb in the back to take my trousers off. Anyone who's been in a cabover long enough knows how they beat you to death. Once I got into a nice riding conventional there was no going back!
THANKS Guys - enjoyed the cab overs. I started OTR in the early 70's in a Freightshaker cab over with a 250 natural aspirated Cummins - talk about painfulness in that headwind on I-80 in the mid-west. Back then, cab overs were the majority - saw a lot of them 80 style Pete's. The only fleet of conventional's when I started OTR was Monfort out of Greeley, Colorado and they were running K wabler 425 kitty cats - they'd blow by me like I was going in reverse. Great video!
I drove cabovers from 1970 until the early 90's covering just about every state. The only conventional I had driven was a B-61 Mack and a 2010 International in that time period so I really never drove anything to compare with a couple of cabovers I had.The KW and the Pete were both hard to beat. Super Nice trucks.
Listening to those older type gentlemen telling their stories is extremely entertaining to me. I know some might not be up to it just bc of their character, but when you get a guy like that or a Mr. Spooner type tell his tales, it’s awesome!
Back in 1976 when the length limit increased from 65ft to 75ft here in the USA, cabovers were still common up through the late-1990s & that's when most of them phased out & more conventional cabs took their places.
Greetings from the Ohio Porters.🇺🇸 This was some good stuff! We love cabovers! I travel around with my two boys and we love it when we catch a cabover out on the road! 🥰 You found some sweet looking rides! 🤩 I come from a trucking family...my dad started driving in the 1930s. We own 3 cabovers so far...CL9000, IH 9670 Walmart truck, GMC Crackerbox. Cabovers sure had plenty of style and character and really stand out when you see them on the highway! 😎 Special cabovers have a Cat under them! 🥰 Cabovers Rule! Maybe there will be plenty of the, at the Fairborn truck show this year...2021! 😎
The older guys that own the cabovers were the ones driving that style of truck back in the day. My favorite cabovers are the International emeryville and Transtar.
Ahhhh takes me back to the days when my dad drove a short wheelbase, non-air ride, solid mounted passenger seat, swamp cooler lookin AC unit, cabover Marmon. 🤔 that’s why you never saw pee bottles on the side of the road. Stop or spill🤣
That 80 Peterbilt looks like a Brookeledge horse hauler, it has their exact color scheme for trucks. They have a terminal in Lexington KY, I drove for them.
I’m having a hard time thinking of cab overs as old school. I was a part owner on a couple of GMC cab overs in the late 70’s. I guess I’m older than I think I am.
If you like flat fronts you see the Dodge 1000 that I drove in the 1960's. I also drove GMC cracker boxs. I loved them all. Some truck builders should bring C.O. E. 'S back on the market. They will sell. Dave
I'm saving up to get my first truck to lease onto the company o drove for now hauling boats I desperately wanted to but the freightliner fla86 my dad had while I was growing up but I couldn't do it... I fell in love with these quirky things immediately
I would love too get my hands on a Freightliner COE, or a GMC Jimmy COE. Those are two trucks my Dad owned when he started driving in the 80s. Also I love a 13 speed over any other configuration.
Awesome video on just cabovers. I kept seeing quick shots on the old red International Loadstar. It appeared to have a 2 stroke Detroit, a set of boxes, and air ride. Am I the only one that wants to see that thing featured in a video ??
Really enjoyed all the coverage of the show y'all have done. Especially love all these old COEs. As a big fan of your channel, I need to know how to get one of those hats y'all are wearing. I'd like to show my support while out here running the roads!🤙
Yep thanks to dad Big Dale cb handle! taught me in a GMC Astro and 1974 and 1978 K100! Nothing like a Cabover! To this day I may just work for the highway dept but it still has to do with TRUCKING!
These are fun I used to help in driving with the Pink on even had a garage in every state including Canada and south america also in Moscow very exciting Western Digital HDD had The Backup hard drive last thanks
Things were built to last and to be rebuilt back when those trucks were new. Do you think in 40 years time someone will bring a restored 2021 Cascadia or something to a truck show?
Cabover trucks, also known as COE (cab over engine) are not a style you see too frequently these days. This flat-nosed design was very popular “in it’s day, because of the regulations for length”. The regulations used to be a maximum length of 65 feet, including truck and trailer. This lasted from “1956 to 1976. In 1976, another 10 feet of length was allowed, for a maximum 75-foot allowance”, according to Smart-Trucking. As length regulations have increased, the amount of cabovers has decreased. Now that longer units are allowed on the roads, the main advantage of these trucks, is no longer valid. Overtime, “the large carriers that purchased cabovers, switched over to the conventional style rig, and the bottom rapidly fell out of the market for them in North America”. This led to the eventual halt of all COE manufacturing in North America.
. Hi guys. Quick question.. What is a 'clearance light'.? I've never heard of the term, and know absolutely NOTHING about trucks and trucking. I'm completely new to your channel. Have only watched 2 of your videos so far. But have sub'd straight away. LOVE THE VIDS KEEP'EM COMING RICH(UK) 🥰🥰🥰.
How old of a truck would still be practical to use for business? I've always driven medium duty cabovers but would like to step up to a Class 8 truck. No cabovers newer than 2001 I can find in the states.
They all are awsome but the unconventional is awsome i love pete with detroit .detroit is old timers eather love them or hate them all us youngers love the just the sound of big rig from when i was kid nabor hade 12 cylinder detroit of corrse he sead it was a pos but awsome when it ran
. The truck, at 7mins seems odd to me, living over here in the UK.!🧐!. Over here, cab overs are the norm. In fact I think I've only ever seen half a dozen of the other type, in my 47yrs on the planet. I know about the laws and rules about length and weight, which have dictated designs of trucks over there in the States, from watching other truck channels. But, I don't understand why there seems to be such a massive length between the back of the cab, and the end of the truck (the frame.?.).!🤔!. I get it that there are lots of different types of trailer to choose from, but even so, some of the trucks I've seen, are just as long as a full trailer length over here.!😲😂!. Especially the one at 14:00mins. This one IS THE LENGTH of one of our 4 axle tipper trucks.!😲!. What is the purpose of this.?🤔?. Surely it makes turning circles, and parking, delivering and driving them in general, much harder than a short wheelbase truck(like over here in the UK, and in Europe). Thanks for your time. LOVE THE VIDS KEEP'EM COMING RICH(UK) 🥰🥰🥰.
A stretched truck (long wheelbase) gives a better ride. The owner can only haul certain types of freight. Here in the States when you get a good repertoire with a shipper you will constantly have work. I had a Kenworth W900L with a Cat C-16 single turbo. 5 axle so I could heavy haul over 80,000 pounds weight, very rear axle could turn in so I could turn better
My great uncle drove a Peterbilt 362 on a Florida to New York and back route for years. Bill Underwood, I never got to meet him since he passed from cancer in the late 80's or early 90's. That gentleman with the 1980 is the real deal. Cool dude.
Love this episode!!! That old timer you interviewed was the best! Love old trucker stories. I'm a disabled trucker and love watching your channel.
Thanks for doing a cabover video guys as a owner of both a k100 and a 362 im always happy to see more guys still running them like I do
Any relationship to Shawn McCord?
@@jasonmyers3847 you sus
OMG YES!!!!!! Cab overs!!!! We want more cab overs!!!

Some cabovers look better than conventionals. If the flat floor had come out sooner then I bet they would have been in production much longer.
Gotta love those classic cabovers! Thanks for the walkaround footage and the awesome interviews from the owners.

These are cool cabovers Peterbilts and Kenworths
Wow you guys brought back memories. As a kid my cousin had a GMC Astro and was a owner operator with a moving company.
I drove cabovers from 1970 until the early 90's covering just about every state. I love my 1985 Kenworth 90" Aerodyne cabover, I stretched the wheelbase to 283" and made a 40ft motorhome out of it!
Thanks for the walk around. Love looking at all the cool trucks
Thank you for this one glade to see the old iron. Love me some cabovers
Very cool meeting you guys!! Thank you for being so humble!! Will do my best to come down to your show.... say no to tesla.. LMFAO

Thanks guys very cool show. Thanks for bringing it to us in video, and as always thanks for sharing.
Love those Cabovers. I drove a 83 Pete CO.
With a big bunk a 350 Cummings and a 13 spd.
The older guys that own the cabovers were the ones driving that style of truck back in the day. My favorite cabovers are the International emeryville and Transtar.

Very cool! Yeah, I went to my local ATHS show in Plymouth, California this last weekend. Very cool!
I remember riding in my friend dad old Ford pancake, cabover. With a screaming detroit in it
I love all cab overs but for some reason the IH 4070 has always been my favorite.
Sorry I said what I said about the Old School Truck's Not being Videoed You Guys are Awesome again Sorry Awesome Video
As much as I love the old cabovers, they should have chased Ms. Thickhips around a little bit @ 1:34.
That 80 Peterbilt looks like a Brookeledge horse hauler, it has their exact color scheme for trucks. They have a terminal in Lexington KY, I drove for them.
Mannnn these trucks are beauties
Nothing like listening to the History of Big Iron Machines etc. 🎬

Like the vid.just wanted to remind people Pete and kenworth were not the only manufacturers of cabovers
Awesome video.
Well done.
When I heard 12.7 Detroit it killed it. That thing needs an e model
I would love too get my hands on a Freightliner COE, or a GMC Jimmy COE. Those are two trucks my Dad owned when he started driving in the 80s.
Also I love a 13 speed over any other configuration.
I would love to have one of my own
I was looking for a used truck I like never found a 13 sp I broke out in a Mack Super liner with 13 you get use to one that all you want
Man that second cabover yinz showed and made the termination two comment on, I was just thinking that right before one of yinz said it lol
Very nice

The 014613 double over was a great transmission
I was there on Saturday at the show and I didn’t see you guys
I love me some cabovers!
My favorite truck is the international transtar eagle 7080A. 78-79 year
Needle Nose Pete, Kenworth and old cabovers are most recognizable .
Yeah I’ve always preferred cab overs not conventional‘s but cab overs slick trucks.
Things were built to last and to be rebuilt back when those trucks were new. Do you think in 40 years time someone will bring a restored 2021 Cascadia or something to a truck show?
i do hope they start making Cab Over's again, i know there very popular in europe but in the USA there not for some reason?

What was the weight savings with the aluminum frame? I never knew that existed.
And theres Hatermade sitting behind a cool old Pete 362
.
Hi guys.
Quick question..
What is a 'clearance light'.?

RICH(UK) 🥰🥰🥰.
Would love to check out your show. How bout some free tickets there
Brilliant video. Always strange to me talking about cab overs being rare. Here in 🇬🇧 conventionals are really rare
Why do some of the trucks have the antenna's leaning forward? Just for style?
Wondering when the truck show in TN is going on
June 18-19
How old of a truck would still be practical to use for business? I've always driven medium duty cabovers but would like to step up to a Class 8 truck. No cabovers newer than 2001 I can find in the states.
Funny how people love cabovers now. I remember how guys would complain about how cramped and rough they rode. Lol.
It's just that we miss seeing them on the road and the old spring ride were a bitch to drive on rough rods but also fun at the same time
You guys went to a truck show and did a video on nothing but cabovers? Subbed!!
I miss my 1987 Kw K100 Aerodyne
When is your guys show and where is it going to be held i like Kentucky and would like to come
June 18-19 in Crossville, TN

Europe uses a lot of cab overs trucks. In fact you very seldom see a conventional truck over there.
My brother has 1979 freightliner he'd like to sell.
Thank you Programmers for writing a DVD program That works.
Will, y'all ever do a cabover?
It’s doubtful, we really try and concentrate on new truck builds.
They are there just to steal ideas from other builders as always.
Cooool
I never understood the purpose behind extended frames. If your trailer can clear the cab at extreme angles, then why extend the frame beyond that?
They all are awsome but the unconventional is awsome i love pete with detroit .detroit is old timers eather love them or hate them all us youngers love the just the sound of big rig from when i was kid nabor hade 12 cylinder detroit of corrse he sead it was a pos but awsome when it ran
I love a cabover mine would be a small bunk 9670 IHC 500 redtop N14 13 speed 390 rears 120 gal pa fuel tanks 190 inch wb. 11r225 on classic Alcoa's.
Thank you Master Chiefs for the dvd book
The best part of the cabovers is real working vertical exhaust. No fake shit there.
