That’s why they used resources for the former rather than the latter. And that’s also why they chased out Jewish scientists like Einstein from Germany, and those scientists went on to help the US develop the atomic bomb. I would think Voldemort would have to need her so badly to even ask her or encourage her in any way to join simply because she is a mud blood that he would instantly make her very high up in the death eaters. One way I could see Hermione switching allegiances would be if she was under the Imperius curse. Just imagine if in Half Blood Prince, Draco after receiving his assignment to assassinate Dumbledore decided he needs someone with Hermione's brains to help him pull it off. So one day he hits her with the Imperius curse when she's alone like he did with Katie Bell. Under his influence he would then be able to use Hermione to help him kill Dumbledore. And once they succeed he convinces Voldemort to spare Hermione and bring her into their fold. Knowing how brilliant she is and what a valuable Death Eater she could be, Voldemort gives her the mark.
that's a great idea. it would also give Draco a proper 53X toy. the only issue would be to keep hermione on the imperius or to, somehow, make her join willingly so there's no need for the imperius anymore.

There is huge problem with that you said in the end of the video- Hermione is Muggle Born so no way Voldemort would have allowed her to join the DE and let alone to even live. Or in the Cafe fight if Ron/Harry would have killed Rowle & Dolohov. In both scenarios it means that the strongest DE in existence is gone which is a big blow for Voldemort. I don't think this would have played out this way exactly because Snape would have found out she switched sides since he was already a double agent. There was no mention of that.
Two ideas: - What would happen if the Dursleys treated Harry much better than in the books? Would Petunia have pushed Harry more towards doing good in school? - What would change if Harry looked or acted more like Lily?
I think a better what if would be "What if Ron became a Death Eater?" In "The Deathly Hallows", it showed Ron being affected by the locket the most so, what if, after believing Hermione actually chose Harry instead of him, he ran out of the tent, found Voldemort and swore to help him kill Harry.
I've recently developed a very strong love for the idea of Dark Hermione, but in terms of her joining Voldemort and the Death Eaters, there really are certain criteria that that kind of story really has to meet for it to be believable. First and foremost, Voldemort is not stupid; he is definitely VERY aware of Hermione's talents and intellect, and is fully aware that without her, Harry would have died a THOUSAND times over. He probably wouldn't have even survived his first year at Hogwarts. So he knows better than to waste a resource/asset as valuable as Hermione Granger, but he would most definitely make her EARN it. He would more than likely put her through the worst "school of hard knocks" imaginable to make her prove herself worthy of being a Death Eater. But knowing Hermione like I think I do, I don't think there's any doubt that she would pass EVERY test he set in front of her with flying colors. Now as to WHY Hermione would join the Death Eaters, again, the reasons have to be believable, and there are two scenarios in particular that I find to be the most believable and, as such, these are the ones that seem to produce the best stories. These scenarios are A) some event occurs that pushes Hermione over the edge (examples might include her researching the Dark Arts in secret to try and help Harry, but becoming addicted to them in the process; she spends too much time wearing the locket on the Hunt and it corrupts her from within; or she suffers some kind of betrayal from her friends and/or loved ones that causes her to completely snap), or B) Voldemort WINS the final battle at Hogwarts and kills Harry and Hermione, being the pragmatist and survivor that she is, decides she's tired of fighting and/or being on the run and joins Voldemort so that she will have at least SOME guaranteed future where she'll still be alive, even if it is nothing like the future she was hoping for.
I’ve read some fanfics of Hermione becoming a Death Eater… disturbing stuff. In one Hermione and Viktor consumated their relationship and she became pregnant. Her parents forced her into an abortion and this tipped Hermione over the edge. Thus one of her initiations was torturing and killing her parents. Very disturbing.

I read a good evil- Hermione fanfic once about Hermione being the daughter of voldy and a Phoenix order member. The order member was McGonagall's daughter and was killed by voldy's own hands. I think it was Marlene McKinnon and she gave birth to her and kept her birth a secret by using a memory charm on muggle neighbors who couldn't have children. They raised Hermione and she discovered they weren't her parents when she cast her own memory charm on them. I can't remember the name of it but it has always stuck with me. It was kind of like star wars with Leia being hidden from her dad.
Hermione not only was a "mudblood", making it unlikely that Voldy would be interested in her, but also the other way around, she would not fall for a trick by someone whom she knew despised her. On top of this, she has a moral compass...and a good one too.
Genealogies can always be fudged, and most Pure Bloods still have some parts of the family tree that went off the reservation and thus they depersonsed, who they could make up Hermione being a descendant of, thus making her just somebody of low blood purity than a true mud-blood.

Feels like you should have put more into getting around her muggle-born status. Now beyond that it could actually be an interesting dark Hermione arc that she joins through coercion to protect her parents, but grows to become a magic supremist as she becomes enthralled by the Dark Arts. Honestly though given how much Pure Bloods hate the idea that being a witch or wizard (let a lone a strong one like her) is a random genetic mutation, if they did actually want to use her talents I wouldn't put it past some Death Eater fabricating their family tree to show her and the others, see you weren't actually a proper muggle-born your great great something was actually a disgraced member of our family who ran off with a muggle, and thus your magic gift is actually a blessing of superior pureblood re-exerting itself.
This would’ve made for a great and hardcore subplot. And if Voldemort were to gain the support of one of Harry’s friends, it would make sense that it would be her, as he looks for magical strength and intelligence, and with someone like Hermione, he would have groomed her to be his second in command. Would be like Willow Rosenberg from season 6 of Buffy. And what would happen if Voldemort never acted upon the prophecy concerning him and Harry?

Idea for a video… what if Harry Potter was set in 2022? The example that made me think of this was “Hermione needed the recipe for Polyjuice Potion, so she googled it on her iPhone 14 and watched an instructional video on TH-cam, meanwhile Ron looked down at his hand me down Nokia 3210 in frustration”.
I mean Harry Potter is set in 1990s. There was internet already available in the UK, at least in libraries. Wizards are way too backwards for the 30 years timeskip to make a difference. I mean they did not even get to the “ballpoint pen” phase.

Two good questions you may have answered and I just haven’t seen the videos: 1. What if Ron got fed up with his family’s poverty and turned pro-pureblood? What if Hermione had been caught at one time or another when she broke school rules and been expelled? What would she have done within the wizarding world then? Gone to Beaubatons? Taught herself from books? Or perhaps stayed in the muggle world and become a dentist like her parents?
If Hermione had been expelled, probably she would keep on teaching herself illegally from books, and then find a way to live in both worlds. Earning her living from Muggles, but using magic to do it. A good example of this was a fanfic I once read, where Lee Jordan, good friend of the Weasley twins, became a star magician for Muggles after graduation, using her magic skills.

Well, yes. Because she never wiped their memories. That's just a movie thing. In the book she uses a charm to give them alternative identies and memories. She also plans to find them, and reverse the charm once the war was over.

What would you call his GoF plan then that only succeeded because a lot of things went his way (and in the end, Harry actually *got away* because someone had decided the cup had to be a double portkey)? So either (if it's possible) have Harry handle a portkey in detention or stun him and get him through the floo. I see more beliable for Ron to join voldemort. Hermione is an insuferable know-it-all mudblood. Ron may be from a poor family of blood traitors but, at least, he is pureblood and not always in good terms with Harry. Voldemort could use Ron's envy and lack of money to make him a death eater. There would be no stopping them. Defeat will be impossible. They we’re extremely intellegent, applied themselves to every subject, members of the Slug Club, prefects in their fifth year, started two powerfull societies DA and The Death Eaters, highest marks on their exams. She could be just under Bellatrix. She could even beat Harry easily. No need for a third wizzarding war because with Hermonie and Lord Voldermort, victory would just happen.
I think I see the major flaw in this theory. Hermione was a muggle born. Death Eaters were pure blood supremacists. The others, Yaxley, Rowell, Avery, the Malfoys, and especially Bellatrix Lestrange would never, never have allowed this! If it had gotten to that point, where harry was dead, and dumbledore the only one capable of standing up to voldemort, i think he would have released grindlewald, but ising an unbreakable vow to ensure he would only attempt to bring down voldemort. Of course grindlewald being old and weak, would need time to recover his strength, but I think if dumbledore gave him the elder wand, which wpuld be a foolish thing to do if he didnt know grindlewald was also dying, and would need every advantage. I think a better what if would be "What if Ron became a Death Eater?" In "The Deathly Hallows", it showed Ron being affected by the locket the most so, what if, after believing Hermione actually chose Harry instead of him, he ran out of the tent, found Voldemort and swore to help him kill Harry.
I've recently developed a very strong love for the idea of Dark Hermione, but in terms of her joining Voldemort and the Death Eaters, there really are certain criteria that that kind of story really has to meet for it to be believable. First and foremost, Voldemort is not stupid; he is definitely VERY aware of Hermione's talents and intellect, and is fully aware that without her, Harry would have died a THOUSAND times over. He probably wouldn't have even survived his first year at Hogwarts. So he knows better than to waste a resource/asset as valuable as Hermione Granger, but he would most definitely make her EARN it. He would more than likely put her through the worst "school of hard knocks" imaginable to make her prove herself worthy of being a Death Eater. But knowing Hermione like I think I do, I don't think there's any doubt that she would pass EVERY test he set in front of her with flying colors.
Now as to WHY Hermione would join the Death Eaters, again, the reasons have to be believable, and there are two scenarios in particular that I find to be the most believable and, as such, these are the ones that seem to produce the best stories. These scenarios are A) some event occurs that pushes Hermione over the edge (examples might include her researching the Dark Arts in secret to try and help Harry, but becoming addicted to them in the process; she spends too much time wearing the locket on the Hunt and it corrupts her from within; or she suffers some kind of betrayal from her friends and/or loved ones that causes her to completely snap), or B) Voldemort WINS the final battle at Hogwarts and kills Harry and Hermione, being the pragmatist and survivor that she is, decides she's tired of fighting and/or being on the run and joins Voldemort so that she will have at least SOME guaranteed future where she'll still be alive, even if it is nothing like the future she was hoping for.
I’ve read some fanfics of Hermione becoming a Death Eater… disturbing stuff. In one Hermione and Viktor consumated their relationship and she became pregnant. Her parents forced her into an abortion and this tipped Hermione over the edge. Thus one of her initiations was torturing and killing her parents. Very disturbing.

I read a good evil- Hermione fanfic once about Hermione being the daughter of voldy and a Phoenix order member. The order member was McGonagall's daughter and was killed by voldy's own hands. I think it was Marlene McKinnon and she gave birth to her and kept her birth a secret by using a memory charm on muggle neighbors who couldn't have children. They raised Hermione and she discovered they weren't her parents when she cast her own memory charm on them. I can't remember the name of it but it has always stuck with me. It was kind of like star wars with Leia being hidden from her dad.
Hermione not only was a "mudblood", making it unlikely that Voldy would be interested in her, but also the other way around, she would not fall for a trick by someone whom she knew despised her. On top of this, she has a moral compass...and a good one too.

Genealogies can always be fudged, and most Pure Bloods still have some parts of the family tree that went off the reservation and thus they depersonsed, who they could make up Hermione being a descendant of, thus making her just somebody of low blood purity than a true mud-blood.

Now beyond that it could actually be an interesting dark Hermione arc that she joins through coercion to protect her parents, but grows to become a magic supremist as she becomes enthralled by the Dark Arts. Honestly though given how much Pure Bloods hate the idea that being a witch or wizard (let a lone a strong one like her) is a random genetic mutation, if they did actually want to use her talents I wouldn't put it past some Death Eater fabricating their family tree to show her and the others, see you weren't actually a proper muggle-born your great great something was actually a disgraced member of our family who ran off with a muggle, and thus your magic gift is actually a blessing of superior pureblood re-exerting itself.

The example that made me think of this was “Hermione needed the recipe for Polyjuice Potion, so she googled it on her iPhone 14 and watched an instructional video on TH-cam, meanwhile Ron looked down at his hand me down Nokia 3210 in frustration”.

Two good questions you may have answered and I just haven’t seen the videos: 1. What if Ron got fed up with his family’s poverty and turned pro-pureblood? What if Hermione had been caught at one time or another when she broke school rules and been expelled? What would she have done within the wizarding world then? Gone to Beaubatons? Taught herself from books? Or perhaps stayed in the muggle world and become a dentist like her parents?
If Hermione had been expelled, probably she would keep on teaching herself illegally from books, and then find a way to live in both worlds. Earning her living from Muggles, but using magic to do it.
A good example of this was a fanfic I once read, where Lee Jordan, good friend of the Weasley twins, became a star magician for Muggles after graduation, using her magic skills.

Well, yes. Because she never wiped their memories. That's just a movie thing. In the book she uses a charm to give them alternative identies and memories. She also plans to find them, and reverse the charm once the war was over.

Voldemort may hate muggles/muggle-borns but he also isn’t an idiot and knows when someone can be valuable to him. Werewolves were looked at like vermin but he still recruited Fenrir. With Hermione’s close relationship to Harry she would be more valuable than any of his Death Eaters. However, who knows what he would have done after Harry was dealt with…I’d expect that he’d kill her.

His agent already was a teacher at Hogwarts. Teachers have almost unlimited capability of setting detentions. So either (if it's possible) have Harry handle a portkey in detention or stun him and get him through the floo. There is certainly no need to teach Harry about the Unforgivables first - what an embarrasment that a Death Eater taught Harry how to defeat Voldemort's Imperius. Or that his plan would have gone awry if only Harry had remembered the trick step.

Voldemort ONLY recruited Death Eaters with power/status in the magical world. There's NO way they would ever accept a muggle-born child into their ranks. A sympathizer? Maybe. A snatcher? Sure. An actual Death Eater? Never. Ron, on the other hand...
I don't think Voldemort would recruit a Muggle-born to the Death Eater cause, no matter how desperate he was to kill Harry. Slytherin House itself only accepts "pure bloods" and "half bloods", and Voldemort represents the most extreme form of that ideology.
I can see him abducting her parents and threatening to harm them if she didn't do his bidding, as you said; but that's not the same thing as *being* a Death Eater. You need to have the Mark to be a true Death Eater, and I see a 0% chance of Voldemort bestowing that blessing (in his mind) on a Muggle-born, no matter how much he required her services.
Likewise, I don't see how Hermione could actively support an ideology and movement that seeks her annihilation. What would she think would happen to her once Voldemort won the Second Wizarding War? That she would be the *one* Muggle-born that he would spare? I just don't see it, but it was an interesting video nonetheless. Keep it up.

About Hermione, I'm not sure if she would join Voldemort to save her parents. even less honestly switching sides like Peter did. I think I see the major flaw in this theory. Hermione was a muggle born. Death Eaters were pure blood supremacists. The others, Yaxley, Rowell, Avery, the Malfoys, and especially Bellatrix Lestrange would never, never have allowed this! The other flaw is that turning color is totally outside of Hermione's basic, fundamental nature. Comparing her to Fenrir Grayback is I think a complete red herring.

Of course grindlewald being old and weak, would need time to recover his strength, but I think if dumbledore gave him the elder wand, which wpuld be a foolish thing to do if he didnt know grindlewald was also dying, and would need every advantage.
