Suitcase Monkey didn’t you like Livorno? Not sure If that is what you meant with your comment about it Just curious Thanks in advance for your feedback
One of the best travel videos I have ever seen on TH-cam. Slick, on point, creative, informative and very entertaining. Wish all travel vloggers could see this.
Wow, thanks for the very kind words! It’s really appreciated. Personally speaking, I think I have done some better ones so let me know how you get on with some of my other full length travel vlogs. th-cam.com/play/PLszSmMLISbAcilIqoPDeBLzx40PjI7cAE.html
As a girl born and raised in Florence and the hills surrounding it (but now living in beautiful Gent, Belgium), I just adored the description of Italian driving customs, so true. I'm a very diligent driver here in Belgium, but my Italian blood never fails to bring back my killing driving skills every time I set foot in my home country
Haha. I’m glad you said that. I was nervous putting that in because it’s never possible to group a whole country as one type of person but even as a joke I wanted to mention my personal experience. So glad you reacted to it fondly! We will have a Bruges vlog later this year. Hopefully you’ll enjoy that one too!
Good video - loved your realistic point of view - esp with parking. It is easy to feel we are the only ones that run into logistical issues. Thx for keeping it real!
Thanks for all the tips. I like how you give tips to help viewers by giving us the good and the bad on each places. Rather than making everything look good and perfect you give us a good idea of what to expect and help us save time incase we visit these places. Thank you and i hope you channel blows up as it will help alot of travellers out there.
My first time in Italy I was travelling with a friend who was trying to watch what he ate and be mindful of calories. It was starting to be a drag since we were also in Tuscany. By the third day, I just looked at him and said, "what kind of an idiot goes on a diet in Italy." That pretty much snapped him out of it fortunately. Something as simple as basil, tomatoes and olive oil tastes like ambrosia in Italy. The land and the sun make everything absolutely delicious. I ate mozzarella di bufalla and gelato almost every singe day. Just walk every where, especially the hills and you'll be fine. Eat everything in Italy! Diet at home!
😂😂😂😂😂To visit Italy & be on a diet is a crime!!! Sooo much good food no matter which small town or big city you visit 💯💯!!!! So glad to have visited pre-covid19 pandemic!!!
Very nice Vlog! Having lived in Italy I'd like to say something about the parking challenge, that is, unless you are an expert local motorist, trying to park towards the center of town is an exercise in futility. This is compounded by the fact that you have to navigate mostly one way streets and "denial of transit" rules for cars not domiciled in the area you are in. So my advice is, don't even try. Plan to park outside of the center of town, including convenient municipal parking areas. From there, plan to walk, take a bus or call a taxi if necessary, to get you to where you want to go. Cheers and keep posting you great vids!
My boyfriend and have been thinking of doing a road trip around Tuscany, and this video has just convinced me - I loved it! Thank you for such lovely content
I went to Florence and did 2 tours including Siena, San Giminiano and Pisa. Absolutely beautiful and breath taking. I almost cried when I saw the leaning tower of Pisa and the food like you said is amazing 😉
I really loved the fact that you gave candid review with tips. You clearly expressed what you did NOT like. This honesty is missing in most travel blogs/vlogs. Most of them just praise every darn place... Liked and Subbed :)... looking for more reviews with tips.
Thanks! That’s great to hear. I’m posting a Brunch in London video tonight but generally I post around every 6 weeks or so, so please feel free to check out my other travel vlogs until the next one, which will be Santorini. th-cam.com/play/PLszSmMLISbAcilIqoPDeBLzx40PjI7cAE.html
Hey, everytime I drive to Florence I also park at the Coop and take the "tramvia"! Smart move & good tip. They also sell super cheap Daily Family tickets for max 4 persons, good all day for the tram and buses too.
Parking at Coop supermarket and leaving the car all day there is not a civilized habit. That parking place is for customers only and not for tourists. What would you think if tourists would park their car in your local supermarket parking place?
Excellent and entertaining video. We'll be driving the Tuscany countryside for a week soon and will be sure to include some of your destinations. Thanks also for the tips on parking!
1:19 , there is nothing worse when you’re waiting for the hired car in Pisa genuinely, one year the machine for my dads card didn’t work and we were there for ages, it was roasting and it was stressful but I had wifi so it wasn’t too bad
Another nice video you pack plenty in. Hope its ok to add that Siena is famous for the Palio horse race run every July & Aug in its medieval square "Il Campo". Its a real spectacle (See start of James Bonds Quantum of Solace) for the horse race, flag waving parades and street partys (latter held night of the general trial, the night before main event) although my advice is to watch the trials held 2-3 days before the actual race which its crazy busy. There is free parking in huge car park by city walls as well as v expensive parking. Also If you ever go back to Tuscany please dont miss the beautiful city of Lucca with its wonderful piazzas, churches, the walk round the city walls, botanical gardens and its also host to "Lucca Comics and Games" every Oct or Nov the 2nd biggest Comic festival in the world.
Very helpful, I’ll be driving around Tuscany in two weeks and now I have an idea about the parking. And the first town san migniano wasn’t in my itinerary now it is. Love the vide thank you
Nice video. I would add that you generally need to book a time slot to climb the tower at Pisa. Also I have been to Pisa 3 times and I think half a day is more than enough. The most interesting thing about it is the tower area. There are many better places in Tuscany to spend the other half of you day.
Thank you so much for the details on where to park in Florence! It will help us a lot in our upcoming trip. Any tips on where to park when we visit Rome?
Very informative. Great info for visiting the Tuscany region, as I will be doing in mid-September. Thanks! I checked out the hotel you mentioned. Unfortunately, no vacancies
man you missed LIVORNO my city! amazing genuine sea-city on the west side coast from 15minutes (by train) from the famous PISA. in Livorno you 'll find fabulous rock coast called calignaia were the landscape is breathtaking, terrazza mascagni plus a district called "venezia". You have to tried the no-commercial tuscany! our proud food? cinque e cinque, cacciucco, baccalà alla livornese.
Lots of great stuff in a short amount of time. You've a good eye for composing within the frame and for color and use of natural lighting. Because there's so much to see in your quality cityscapes, panoramas and food, may I suggest leaving 1 second more in those scenes. I had to stop the video a few times for all that was there to see. Still 6 days in one video, all in all, quite worthy.
Thank you for your thoughts and suggestions. I’m editing the next vlog now and will keep this in mind as it is something I am aware of. That said, pace for me is always very important so in a story that has no drama it’s a way to keep it up. But good observation! Thank you.
It's just something I could hear Stephen Fry would say. One more question: Is it difficult to travel to Japan if you don't speak Japanese at all? I'm thinking that it must be agonizing to get around on trains, ordering food and so on. Even when it's translated, the long names of places sometimes confuses me.
Great video! I was wondering if you were going to mention parking and maybe give a good tip LOL! Parking is always the most stressful part when driving in Italy aside from the 90* turns in the roads, so now we stay a few days in a town and then take the train to nearby towns. Thanks for the info on the tram...that is new for me. Thank you again for a great Tuscan video!
Great video - and good tip regarding parking and taking the tram into Florence. By the way it took me about three trips to San Gimignano before I learned how to say it correctly - San Jim in Yano. :)
We really enjoyed your video and was done very well. We are taking a Mediterranean cruise and we get off the ship in Venice. We will make our way to Florence and then pretty much follow your route. Instead of spending 4 nights in Florence where should we stay to break up our day trips to the various towns? Where would you stay if you did this all over again. Would you think it would be hard to find hotels along the way if we kept driving and not back tracked? Thank you from Florida.
Thinking of going to Tuscany again. This video and I think another of yours helped us back in 2019 and so I went on the hunt to find it again. I agree re the parking. Plus google told us we could drive into Sienna, so we were fined for entering a restricted area. Oh well 😊
Thank you for the great video! I was just wondering - when exactly have you been there as I see the video being uploaded on Nov 12? I am planning on visiting early October and wanted to compare with your video :)
hi...can you also put a caption of how much did you spend on foods that you bought so we, viewers have an idea on a budget. and also where you stayed. thank you so much. keep safe...🥰🥰🥰

Very well made video 👍. The places you went are all quite away from each other like Malta to Tuscany to Greece. How do you manage to travel so much , yet staying at good properties?
Hi thank you. Sorry I don’t really understand the question. I mostly book through Secret Escape, Voyage PRIVE and Booking.com which helps with good deals. And I’m based in London so these locations aren’t too far away. Hope that helps?
@@SuitcaseMonkey thank you ☺️. Why did you choose these places rather than doing whole is southern Italy. And how long was a trip. Actually I am planning to go Europe for around 12 days but am undecided which places to visit
Malta Tuscany and Greece were all separate holidays over the course of about a year. As for Tuscany we stayed central and then visited places that were within an hour or two of that location. I’m not sure if you watched the videos but I talk about this in the Tuscany video. Also, the length of the trips are in the videos as well
That was really helpful and entertaining presented. I am planning a few-days-trip to Tuscany in September this year, being on my own and looked for some recommendations. Since I spent many years ago a university semester in Siena, I would like this time so see some more spots in the countryside. So, considering a temporary car and take maybe two different hotels, might be a good way to choose. Mabye, to safe money for food and other things to see, I might take an unexpensive overnight accomodation somwhere in the countryside but still looking for addresses. Anyway, thanks for that nice video.
That sounds like a good plan! If you enjoy my style please check out our other travels around Rome and beyond. Enjoy the trip! I did solo travel a few years back and it’s awesome! Thanks again.
Hi Paul. Love your editing, that's hard work! My daughter and I have a channel and as someone who spends a lot of time editing I had a couple q's. I also use FCPX and love it. 1. your intro, how'd you make it, any special software? 2. Music. I mostly use Kevin MacLeod. Where do you source your great music? Are you monetized? 3. How did you manage the hand drawing on the italy map? I'm creating a video now on the fastest way to Pandora's Flight of Passage, without the long waits, thus the map question. 4 Sound FX source? I find stuff free online but find the libraries lacking what i need often. Thanks for any help, and again amazing work!
Hi there! Here goes: 1. I use FCPX too! How did you know I use it? 2. I get all my music from the TH-cam audio library, some of which are from MacLeod. 3. There may be a better way but I used an Apple Pencil and Procreate for the drawing. I screen recorded my iPad whilst drawing on the map and then sped it up. I don’t usually use sound FX but when I do it’s from either FCPX or TH-cam’s library again. Hope that all helps!
Thanks Paul for the great and quick reply! As I appreciate more of your videos, I hope I can ask again, and maybe again. Btw discovered your channel as a suggested video, while i was looking up the mysterious Disney Society of Adventurers and Explorers. One of the attractions linked to the interwoven Disney backstory that spans continents and several parks is the Fortress Exploration at Tokyo DisneySea. Other rides and attractions linked to this is Mystic Manor at Hong Kong Disney and HighTower of Terror at Tokyo Disney. If you want to see more, here's a cool link. attractionsmagazine.com/story-behind-sea-disneys-society-of-explorers-and-adventurers/ . While i was watching one of the inbeded youtube videos, yours came up as suggested on the side. I loved that One Day guide! I immediately identified with skip Toy Story Mania if you have ridden it already, and see other other cool things. I am amazed at your VO script and how well organized you went about laying out the video. I know bc I make these things, that was impressive. Thanks for making these videos. Martin. P.S. Oh and I knew it was FCPX because someone had asked in your comments and you had replied. I also recognized some of the titles. P.SS i need to take a closer look at the library music library, you found some great music. And I need to look up screen recording ipad whilst drawing, brilliant! When i finish the Pandora video, I'll send you the link, kay?
Europecar - did they rip you off when you arrived? Some car rental places do that and we would like to rent a car but i think it can get a little pricey?
Armchair travelling during Pandemic times... to most of the places I've already been. I still cant believe you shoot your videos on an iphone only.. superb quality. ALMOST tempted to get my own.. but no I will not.. I will.. I will not.. let's see
How was driving in Italy? We are going in June. Flying into Naples from Amsterdam and want to explore Pompeii, Amalfi, Coast and then head to Rome. I've read a lot about car break-ins and attempted car jackings at red lights. Is this accurate? Thank you!
Hmm. That’s a fair point. To be clear that isn’t something that happened or something I would do. I think the point I was trying to make is that there are all these wine tasting experiences around but you always need to drive to get to them so it seems like an odd set up. But point taken.
Really great video....My daughter and me are going we have never been to Italy or Europe we don't know where to start, driving looks fun but not so sure about those crazy Italian drivers. :) ...Tuscany looks beautiful and Volterra...my daughter loves to shop...me I like the wine!
Yes, that was “a” statue of David but not “the” Statue of David. It might have been useful to clarify that. And who would pick up their wine glass like that?
You did a great job showing many of my favorite places in my hometown and region. I have a large vacation home in Florence and love sharing the magic of Italy with my guests.

I agree
I was hoping you’d get inside the cathedrals and museums. This was like a quick side-trip.
Very professional vlog. The right pace. Well done
You are my new favourite channel, thanks for all the great content and charming personality of course.!!
Thanks again. We are having a Live Premiere for our Santorini vlog tonight. If you can join us it would be great to chat whilst it goes out.
Thank you for the wonderful and informative video of Tuscany.

That is a phenomenal line and totally English of you.

The British are always the best at explaining things.
I guess you're not a honorable member of Parliament :-)
If you visit Volterra, pay a visit to the Etruscan museum.

It is so beautiful there, I really want to go!!

Enjoyed your video! I didn't visit Sienna when I was in Tuscany; I will have to return;)
Sicily...my all time Favorite!
Rick Steves reminds me of being here in his show entitled "Best of Europe". 👍
Take a train or bus. Hop on or off to see the countryside in between your destination towns.
This is such a helpful video! Thank you!
An age gone by.
Take back control.
Make Tuscany great again.
(Who else got that while he was trying on that medieval costume. Lol
Thank you so much for this wonderful video. Incredibly helpful for our trip to the Tuscan countryside

It's very beautiful lovely place my grandson is studying in florance I have bee twice here
Thank you for the great video! I was just wondering - when exactly have you been there as I see the video being uploaded on Nov 12? I am planning on visiting early October and wanted to compare with your video :)
Hey thanks. We went in September
Parking in Italy, especially in turistic towns is not easy also because there's are strict rules about cars in the town's center and not only.
hi...can you also put a caption of how much did you spend on foods that you bought so we, viewers have an idea on a budget. and also where you stayed. thank you so much. keep safe...🥰🥰🥰
Yeah I’ve started doing this on newer videos
Such a beautiful area! We went this summer to similar areas but wish we had a car for tuscany to see more.
Great travel vlog👍👊👊
Oltre che al centro a Firenze ci sono tanti altri posti magari tipo più in periferia belli da visitare
I loved your Video and your humour. New subbie 💕
Jenny Marie Molina Many thanks for that! I post around once a month at most (since these videos are mostly just of my holidays) so please enjoy our back catalogue of travels until the next one comes along! th-cam.com/play/PLszSmMLISbAcilIqoPDeBLzx40PjI7cAE.html

Awesome video! I enjoyed it, thankyou:)
Love your vlog and just subscribed. Please tell me what time of the year this video was shot and what were the temps. We are headed there in 10 days.
Hell and welcome! I can’t remember the temps but it was September. Check out average weather temp on google. Have a great time!
This was very helpful, thank you! :)
You said there was a beautiful village near to Volterra, but I didn't catch the name. (casel detsa? Orsomething like that)
Casole D'elsa I found it! haha thank you :))

Tuscany is cool over at your view.. but in reality over here at us it’s freezing
Was thinking about renting a car there , is it worth It or should I just do trains? I’m doing Rome, Florence Verona and Venice
When i finish the Pandora video, I'll send you the link, kay?
peaceful place😍
Europecar - did they rip you off when you arrived? Some car rental places do that and we would like to rent a car but i think it can get a little pricey?
Hey. We pre booked it all online first of all so compared and booked whatever came out as cheapest so I didn’t feel ripped out (even if we were!).
thanks for the reply! would you rent a car again or take public transit if you could do the trip over ?
For Tuscany, 100% car.
Cool !!
Wow nice place 😃😲😙👌👌👍💑
I want to go there because its so pretty but also the food looks good
Fantastic video!
Excellent
Armchair travelling during Pandemic times... to most of the places I've already been. I still cant believe you shoot your videos on an iphone only.. superb quality. ALMOST tempted to get my own.. but no I will not.. I will.. I will not.. let's see
Haha. And this video was shot on a 6S!
How was driving in Italy? We are going in June. Flying into Naples from Amsterdam and want to explore Pompeii, Amalfi, Coast and then head to Rome. I've read a lot about car break-ins and attempted car jackings at red lights. Is this accurate? Thank you!
Hey. I talk about driving at 5:10. I’ve not heard about Jackings or break ins though...
Very nice and informatove clip
How long did you spend for this whole trip?
We had a tour of Siena, San Gimignano and Pisa
My friend. Is it hard to find parking? We are going in Sept?
It was yeah
I'm from Tuscany and yes , we are crazy drivers hahahah :D
Lol. Appreciated the honesty! Haha
was your trip in November? I wonder if the end of November or December is a good time in regard to the weather conditions to visit the area.
Hi. We went early September last year. I always use holiday-weather.com for weather averages for somewhere.
Only 20 minutes to park in Siena? You have been lucky my friend! =D
pretty cool except that bit about 'driving drunk, without a care in the world'. thats pretty appalling
Hmm. That’s a fair point. To be clear that isn’t something that happened or something I would do. I think the point I was trying to make is that there are all these wine tasting experiences around but you always need to drive to get to them so it seems like an odd set up. But point taken.
Where did you have the best mashed potatoes at?
which two regions in Tuscany do you recommend staying overnight ?
I think Sienna and Florence cover a wide enough area that you have a good base for all visiting places near each.
Really great video....My daughter and me are going we have never been to Italy or Europe we don't know where to start, driving looks fun but not so sure about those crazy Italian drivers. :) ...Tuscany looks beautiful and Volterra...my daughter loves to shop...me I like the wine!
very good video. A good overview about Italy. Thank you.
*tuscany, italy its differnt from region and region
Yes, that was “a” statue of David but not “the” Statue of David. It might have been useful to clarify that. And who would pick up their wine glass like that?
Lovely beautiful place
Love your vlogs ❤️
Thank you! 😍
You did a great job showing many of my favorite places in my hometown and region. I have a large vacation home in Florence and love sharing the magic of Italy with my guests.
Bella la toscana
