Dana, I appreciate this video. I will be taking my wife on a honeymoon in Tuscany as we figured it'll be a nice escape from our constant SF-NYC back & forth. I just want to make sure that my wife is happy and has a good time, and I feel your video has really helped me prep. Thank you.
I love how non-youtubers just love to tell you what you should or shouldn't say or do in your videos lol. Anyway, this was such an aesthetic video, and I found it so helpful. Thank you!
Manvi in Montepulciano is amazing! It is run by a couple from India, and their story is amazing! The husband was a banker, and neither of them had any experience in running a vineyard. We went to Montepulciano last year, and had a private tour with the wife who co-runs the vineyard. Her knowledge is simply unbelievable. To move to Italy, learn the language, learn how to make wine, and start a business is just amazing. Highly recommend visiting Manvi if you decide to go to Montepulciano. Also highly recommend Pienza. The views (and cheese) are spectacular.
Next time you come back to Tuscany,I suggest you to visit Arezzo, Lucca, LIVORNO ( a beatiful and very important Town, and where you can also taste the famous Livorno cacciucco 😋👍), Volterra and Bolgheri.W all of TUSCANY !
You are such an inspiration! Thank you for what you do! We will be traveling to Oia Santorini, Greece this coming June. We are booked to stay at Art Maisons Oia Castle Hotel for 8 nights. We plan to shop, hang out in our terrace and visit other sites in Santorini. We also plan on doing parasailing and jet skiing. Guess what? I also booked for a Flying Dress photoshoot, ahhhh I can’t wait. In July, we are also going to Bangkok and we will be staying at Millenium Hilton Hotel overlooking the Chao Praya River. After seeing your Positano/Amalfi Coast videos, you’ve convinced me to visit there next. Again, thank you for the inspiration and travel tips! BTW, I lived in Germany and they drive very, very fast there in the autobahn. I think that’s the norm in Europe, or I could be wrong.
Very helpful and informative video for those who are interested to visit Tuscany. I have never been in countryside of Florence, but it is on my bucket list for sure. And I love Montalcino wines🍷😁, woow you had a great experience there. I have visited the winery once as well, but in the different part of Italy.
Wow this video came at a perfect time as I am planning my trip to Italy and south of Tuscany for this summer 😍 Super helpful and informative guide as always, thank you for sharing!
We are renting a car in Chiusi as well and staying in Montepulciano. We decided to just return the car in the Florence airport because back tracking 30 mintues to Chiusi to return the car, then take a 2 hr train to Florence, is longer than driving 1.5 hours to Florence. Hopefully my husband can navigate easily once we get to busier Florence. We avoided returning in the town center because of all the ZTLs, so our hotel suggested we return at the airport.
Thanks for all the travel tips Dana particularly in where to stay and how to rent a car. I'm booking a family trip to Tuscany as I type this comment and I found your video super helpful. A million thanks!
Wonderful video! I'm in the early stages of potentially traveling to Tuscany. Were there other guests staying at the agriturismo while you were there or did you have the place to yourself (besides the hosts)?
Hi there!! My husband & I are to going to Florence/Tuscany next month. We both love to drink wine & its a must for us to do wine tasting in Tuscany. Our plan is to go first in Florence, will stay for 3 days then drive to Tuscany & stay for 3-4 days. My question is do you think it’s better for us just to take the day trip tour to visit Tuscany area & do the wine tasting & stay a bit longer in Florence OR it’s a must that we have to drive in Tuscany & stay there? Hope u can give me advise. thank you!
Awesome video, we are also from New Jersey and are planning to go in September 2024. We want to stay countryside and do day trips into Florence and Pisa. Any recommendations?
Hi Dana: love your videos and we are planning a trip to Italy May 2025. Venice, Florence, Rome with a couple of nights in the Val D’Orcia area. Do you remember seeing poppies while you were there? It’s my favorite flower and I see photos of them and would love to see a field of them. I know it’s and obscure question but if you did see them I would love your tips on where to see them as well. Thanks.
I'm quite sure that between April and May you'll find plenty of poppies, at least from Florence to Val d'Orcia, my advice is to avoid main roads on south of Siena and wandering until your accomodation.
Like your video cause it’s a dream of mine to go to Tuscany but not sure exactly how much I need to save $ to pay for this trip. So very nervous about that.
This is great! Thanks for sharing. Is Ristorante la terrazza the right spot? I looked it up but the trip advisor link takes me to La Terrazza which doesn't look to be on the water. Do you happen to have a link to this restaurant?
Hi!! Can you tell me the address or the town that Ristorante la Terrazza is in? I googled it and found one in Tuscany but it looks different than the one in your video. I’m staying in Val d’ Orcia in September and would LOVE to visit this restaurant 🙂
Great video, very informative thankyou. Do you know much about Castelo di Montegulfoni? I’ve read mixed reviews online, not sure if anyone can comment.
Hi Dana! I am going to Italy soon and your video is soooo very informative. I'm wondering if you can give me advice - we are taking a train from Venice to Florence and want to see Florence including the 12 hour tour you mention and the Tuscany regions you mention in your video. We will have 1/2 day on arrival day into Florence, then 4 full days, and then another short day to Amalfi. Would you suggest, when we get into Florence, staying in Florence and then going to Tuscany or heading to Tuscany first and end in Florence then on to Amalfi? Not sure if we should stay more days in Florence or Tuscany!
We are planning a trip to Italy very soon and plan to visit the Tuscany area as well. We plan to drive up from Rome to Tuscany.. Any recommendations where to rent a car just north of Rome to drive to Tuscany.?? I would prefer to rent a vehicle that is not in the city limits to avoid the traffic as much as possible.
This was SO helpful. Can't thank you enough for taking time to explain in so much detail. How did you get the wine back to the US? Was it a "trustful" experience? Thank you!
You are so welcome! It was fine they asked me if I had anything to declare I said a few bottles of wine and they just let me go. Also, I got a few cases shipped.
Thanks for all the tips. But I will say, driving in Souther Italy is very different. Southern Italian driving is what most people reference when they talk about the crazy driving.🤪
I'm a senior from the Philippines. I'm praying to work there God willing. Do I need to get a visa,? Do they accept senior worker? Thank you, and God bless.🙏🏻
My opinion I would stay not in a town but rather in a farm house in the region of the Val Dorcia. If you like towns, Pienza is nice and pretty flat! Hope that helps :)
Hey Dana love your travel vlogs. Have been watching them to help plan my Italy trip. Wanted a suggestion. I am planning a 10 day Italy trip. As I am travelling to Venice for a day and amalfi coast for 3 nights. After Rome do you suggest I should do the Florence/ Tuscany region for 2-3 days or Milan / Como. Would appreciate your response. Thanks
I love how specific you are! Saving some of your recommendations for our trip to Italy in July!
I'm so glad you found it helpful!

Yes, there were other guests but not many. Maybe two other groups.

For agriturismos, what are the best booking sites to find a place to stay? Airbnb, Expedia? What did you have the most luck with?
If you’re still looking I booked with Relais Villa Olmo, just outside of Florence but with easy access

I think you can drive into the old towns if you stay there. You need to check with your accomodation. They are called ZTL zones
Thanks for sharing! Yes, you need a pass and it is not easy to drive in the towns. I would not recommend that.

Which company you used to ship the wines you bought? Im heading to tuscany and want to know how to get them back?
The wineries facilitated this for us since we purchased directly from the winery.
@DanaBerez great! So they can ship like a case or mixed case back?
@@TheIchiban2000 Yes, they sure can. Majority of them will offer this and you have to pay for shipping.

Confused: Europe Car or Auto Europe?
Did they actually ask for international driving license?
Never heard rental companies asking for it to US citizens
I don’t remember actually. You are free to do what you want and take this advice with a grain of salt.
We have never been asked for an International Drivers License in Italy. We only ever use Hertz.
Neither have I… the point is your supposed to have one. Doesn’t matter what car rental company you use it’s the law.
