"Rappers Delight" by the Sugarhill Gang. I love that song. I own a copy of that 12" single but I wouldn't put that thing onto it, or any of my other records for that matter! Why would you want to completely destroy a great classic piece of vinyl. It wasn't nicknamed the 'Vinyl Killer for nothing!
***** Before the invention of the Soundwagon in 1970 A.D., humans were severely limited in how much they could watch a Volkswagen Bus drive around a vinyl record playing music. Now, the Soundwagon is vital to my way of life, which consists mostly of watching this video over and over again.
I'll tell you why, Ellenaor. Don't expect these things to track records properly llike a decent turntable and cartridge would do. They are not called "vinyl killers" for nothing! Buy one and keep it as a future collectable, but for Christ's sake, don't play your precious records with them.
Just A Guy Just saw the RokBlok inventor on Shark Tank last night. He sole the entire business to Robert, and will be an employee with a six-figure salary for 2 years, with a royalty deal thereafter...
What's people's fascination with these? 1. When was the last time you saw a record player where the needle moved around the record instead of the other way around? 2. Old VW toys and other memorabilia, especially Beetles and Transporters (like this one) are very collectible. 3. Records have always been collectible, but there's been a renewed interest in them in the last few years. There are players now that can convert records to MP3, and new albums are being released in the format.
I bought one of these a few years ago at a flea market brand new in the box for a buck! They had 3 CASES of them. I played with it 4 awhile & stuck it on Ebay & it brought $150.00!!! WTF? WHAT is everyone's fascination with these stupid things? Naturally, I went back to the flea market & the guy said someone rushed in & bought ALL he had left for 50 bucks! I bet HE made a killing! Unbelieveable how much people pay for these stupid things!! BTW they DON'T hurt the records u play with them!
@coondogtheman1234 It doesn't have a "speaker", it works in a similar way to an old gramophone. No actual speaker cone, just shaped to amplify the sound
This essentially made a single use product out of each record. You play it once with that and the record is destroyed. All fine details milled away. If youtube existed back in time people would destroy their most valuable records with this just to get 1 million clicks...
The sound quality isn't very good at all, I'd rather listen to the Sugarhill Gang on a proper stereo turntable, besides people say thise record players damage your records really quickly.
Yeah, they destroy records and I think they only work with 33RPM ones. If you're going to get your dad one, make sure he doesn't use it. They're cool to collect but they'll wreck all your records.
I got one for $5 at a garage sale in the mid 90s. I see people asking for $150US for them, and I wonder if the guy who sold it to me ever kicks himself
Sorry, but I enjoy playing my copy of this on my Technics sl1210mk2. This is a crappy toy...although not as bad as rokblok..but probably still does damage.
Sounds better than the garbage RokBlok kickstarter ripoff!
And, unlike the RokBlok, it’s NOT $100!
YEP! And this was uploaded YEARS ago... Is it just me or is technology getting worse?
Probably because they were smart enough to use a flywheel or any form of motor speed control.
Peter Gray yeah but the rokblok doesn't destroy your records like the soundwagon does
Well from what I've seen of the RokBlock it does destroy your records, badly enough to be visible.
The camera quality brings back memory’s
The pitch was impressively stable when playing.
Fun to look at :)

THIS IS THE GREATEST INVENTION IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD

Works better than the $100 RokBlok.
leslie speaker included at no extra charge
I own 3 of these and none play smooth like yours. you got a good one!

Can you imagine one of these with Bluetooth?
"The wheels of the bus go round and round..."
There is.. It's called Rokblok on kickstarter.
Rokblok
there is rokblok but it sounds worse than this one
HE PREDICTED IT
Bradley Hinton nope, this comment is from a year ago, and rokblok was already on peoples mind
So did RokBlok steal this idea???????
mykylc seems like its a revised version of it though
I thought everybody would think that but seems like generation Y/Z or whatever it is called didn't know the Soundwagon yet =)
Yes
@@FrankHuber seem like direct plagerism, same in everyway aside from it not looking like a VW Bus
The original groovemobile
Better than the RokBlok. By a football field!
Would have been cooler if it was a Black Sabbath record and the Soundwagon was the A-Team van.
A Mystery Machine version would be groovy
And now there's a kickstarter with something called Rokblok which is the same thing but it can connect to a bluetooth speaker.
Andrew Flath it doesn't put as much weight on it but it's the same principle but less record destroying
Just A Guy Just saw the RokBlok inventor on Shark Tank last night. He sole the entire business to Robert, and will be an employee with a six-figure salary for 2 years, with a royalty deal thereafter...
@weggles
I'm pretty sure these run off a 9V battery and have a mono amp and speaker inside as well as a motor. I'm sure that is moddable.

The song is good choice for this occasion I think.
Cool! :-)
Why are we not funding this?!
+Ricky Nam This is an old toy from the 70's. The sound quality is bad and it ruins records.
+Amithrius And how does it?
The needle does not move smoothly along the tracks.
Now I know... I also found one of these non-working in a vacant house.
That thing is LIKE A BOSS
Lol someone should start like 10 of these at the same time
where can i buy this?

youdon'tneedtoreadthis yes
The dumb blond that sold me mine said the studded tires on hers ruined her record collection during the wintertime.
Huh, this sounds better than the rokblok
Holy shit this plastic piece of shit cheese grater sounds better than the RokBlok
Who's Years old

I so, want one!
soundwagon?
What about Doppler Effect? ;)
Donde se puede comprar uno de estos?
I certainly would not play any of my records with one of those contraptions!

Eric Portillo 1970
They rereleased it a few years ago
The sound quality isn't very good at all, I'd rather listen to the Sugarhill Gang on a proper stereo turntable, besides people say thise record players damage your records really quickly.

Me suscribo a tu canal, gracias por la info.
Fuck Crosley turntables, I'm buying that to start my record collection.
Grzegorz Napkine LoL
This thing is 50 times worse than a crosley
@@jaysvintagerecordsandphono6184 That's the joke
If they patent this... CokBlok are in trouble!

I got one for $5 at a garage sale in the mid 90s. I see people asking for $150US for them, and I wonder if the guy who sold it to me ever kicks himself

My other turntable is a Porsche.
