That looks absolutely amazing! I haven't heard of the Faroe Islands until recently, and watching this video already makes me want to go there sometime!
Ha! At least you could see the ground when you landed. We didn't see squat until just about the time the wheels touched down and yeah.... it was a bouncy landing as well. Faroe is truly an amazing place and you're going to have a blast, even if the weather stays sucky! Amazing images are around every bend and from every mountain top. Peace!! :-)
This comment might be very late, but yes Atlantic Airways has specialized equipment to let them navigate cloudy/foggy weather much more easily, and rarely cancels unless the winds are harsh, whereas the other lines cancel relatively frequently. Also at the Mark apartments, behind the building up the hill, there's a "hidden" hotel. I say hidden because it is low, and has a grass roofing. It is called Hotel Føroyar, and has the best view by far. So cool to see you did a whole playlist of my country
I felt the exact same about Copenhagen airport. I even posted how ridiculously nice they all were. Like they were actually happy to be there helping people. LOL
Well young Brendan don't know what I thought Faroe Islands would be like but I'm from the West of Scotland and it felt like home!! Always wet and windy and thats in summer Jim
Brendan, I watched your video on Edinburgh and hoped to capture some similar photos. We went beginning of April 18 and the weather was pants, dark, overcast, raining, very windy. Did not get hardly any decent photos in my 4 day stay. So the weather is a big variable for outdoor photos
I have been there for the first time in 2017. I returned again in May 2018. You're right Brendan to go there this year. From what I saw during this two years is that it already started to change heavily when youy look at the approach towards the tourist... and this is not a positive change :(
I’m as obsessed with your videos as I was when Casey neistat started, keep it up man, I’m starting photography myself and it’s really helping me think about locations and compositions, love it, thank you 🙋🏻♂️📸🔥
You're like, "Mike's gonna climb up there on the ledge..." and you can see this red jacket heading down the road. I'm like, "Nope.. he's jogging back to town." "Man, I ain' getting up on no wet ledge in all of this. I'm jogging back to town where it's dry, warm and there's alcohol." It reminded me of the old nature shows. "Bob will now demonstrate how we put an alligator in a headlock...". Bob's like, "Wait! What??" Looks like a great place. Looking forward to the series.
I don't have one (I lost it). But, if you're Canadian you just go to the AMA and get it, it takes 2 minutes. I'm not sure how it works as an American or a Brit; likely the same, you just go to the place you get a driver's license and ask for it(?). It's really just a translation of your license to a 100 other languages, so you don't need to do a test or anything.
Amazing location,Beautiful and looks like it's an opportunity for an image just by turning around. Bet there's even an image while filling the gas tank. Great job Oh and SAS knows your a celeberty , didnt want to risk your life the day before. Jodi would be mad, maybe thats the reason ? Again great job showing what happens
SAS does NOT have RNP Technology so that means that they can ONLY land and takeoff in the Faroe Islands with nice weather. Atlantic AIways DOES HAVE RNP Technology so it means they CAN land and takeoff in the Faroe Islands with any weather condition so they can guarantee that you will reach your destination. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Required_navigation_performance
Through 10:00 of this video you hadn't mentioned what town you're near. So I picked Sandavágur randomly. Weather Channel app's extended forecast is partly cloudy at best for Monday & Thursday. Cloudy & rainy almost every other day for the rest of your stay. Yuck. Hope you like shooting seabirds and seals.
Brendan van Son I’ve done both Iceland 🇮🇸 and Norway twice so the Faroe Islands I’m definitely interested in seeing how you get on. I’ve a feeling I will be heading there at some stage 👍
Funny last year in may 2017 after circling around above the islands for hours we were forced to go to Stavanger inNorway and spenf the nioght there. The pilote tried twice to land but it did not work. I have been told this ir rare :) NO WAY !!!! This year in May 2018 the story almost repeated ...except that this timùe we took, the midday flight and after circling above the islands for an hour we managed to land after our second try. The other flights were cancelled ;)
Well you know i am going to comment on this, i dont get time to watch everyone all the time, but searching for Faroes i found you and this, so ill be checking out as much as poss, i have messaged you text and FB about details, i am planning a trip for October 2019
Hi Brendan, Mads Peter Iversen has produced some very useful photographic guides. Maybe you should check out his channel in case you need some local info since this is your first time in the Faroes. Hope this helps.
NEVER fly with SAS to the Faroes. They don't have the equipment to land in fog, so they only land about half the time. Atlantic Airways has the equipment and very experienced crew for "bad" weather.
Faroe islands have clearly an Icelandic vibe. Problem is, if you're as unlucky as I am (I've been in Iceland for a month and there were barely 3 or 4 days with great weather), your whole stay will be gray at best :P It's a unfortunate that these crazy beautiful places have such unpredictable and often crappy weather. Cross your fingers Brendan ;-)
Man, you have *got* to do something about your background music... It just keeps repeating nonsense phrases, or that's what it sounds like. As if the needle is stuck on the record... Makes it hard for me to watch the whole video
Love your videos, but I can't get the islanders' regular dolphin and whale slaughters out of my mind. Perhaps earning income from tourism will help them stop!
Hands up if The Faroe Islands are on your photography bucket list.
Don't forget to sub for more videos from the Faroes: th-cam.com/users/bvans890
The Faroe Islands is definitely on my every growing bucket list.
It is now!!!! 😍😍😍😍
Yep 4 sure....
Faroeislands are awsome so pretty there went in march
I am from Fareo Islands.
Eg eri frá færoyar 🇫🇴
Wow!!! Spectacular footage!!!! I’ve added the FI to my bucket list now!!! Wow!!
I’m really enjoying your videos intro!!! Great job man!!!
The waterfall is cool. Wow that weather makes it very challenging to take photos. Have Fun! Thanks.
It was a battle, and continues to be... as you'll see.
What an adventure! Really looking forward to seeing all the future episodes of this amazing place.
It should be fun!
WOW! Nothing more to add!
That looks absolutely amazing! I haven't heard of the Faroe Islands until recently, and watching this video already makes me want to go there sometime!
Welcome to the Faroe Islands Brendan 😀
Love your video's

Hands up for me and I live in England, so a short trip! great vlogs as always
All those waterfalls! I'd probably drive like a mile in the whole day because I'd want to photograph them all.
Rain rain go away ..... awesome location can’t wait to follow
Fantastic!

What a stunning location 😁 hope the weather clears for you
I felt the exact same about Copenhagen airport. I even posted how ridiculously nice they all were. Like they were actually happy to be there helping people. LOL
I was confused. Like they were playing a trick on me. haha.
Well young Brendan don't know what I thought Faroe Islands would be like but I'm from the West of Scotland and it felt like home!! Always wet and windy and thats in summer
Jim
Not far from you, just straight north!
Welcome Brendan and the rest of the participent😊 I hope you'll have a blast on these rocks. Looking forward to the next video😉 PEACE😎
Thanks Kristin! Looking forward to exploring some more!
Thanks, Brendan, for always showing in your videos how adding a person in a landscape can really add rather than detract.
My pleasure! Thanks for watching.
Really good videos. Very inspiring. Do you want to share the name of the place where you were staying?
Do you have a video on your equipment, especially vlogging camera/lens?
Not yet, but I'm going to do one soon.

been on my list for a few years one day I will make it there
Great video video keep up the good job
Nice vid again bro
Just left, when we're you there? I also had issues where I just had to put the camera away and enjoy the moment.
When exactly this video was recorded? Love to know
2 days ago.
I am from Fareo Islands.

😱😱😱😱 I wanted to go there thia summer, but couldn't work it out 😭... Noice Broll
Do you have an international driving license? Where did you get one from?
I don't have one (I lost it). But, if you're Canadian you just go to the AMA and get it, it takes 2 minutes. I'm not sure how it works as an American or a Brit; likely the same, you just go to the place you get a driver's license and ask for it(?). Hahaha, I think SAS just didn't have a plane ready and used weather as an excuse.
And, yes, it is amazing here.
SAS does NOT have RNP Technology so that means that they can ONLY land and takeoff in the Faroe Islands with nice weather.

Thanks for the info, Rogvi! Appreciate that. Good to know when booking the islands too. Would definitely have booked Atlantic had I known that.
How long are you staying here in the Faroe islands
10 days total.
Through 10:00 of this video you hadn't mentioned what town you're near. So I picked Sandavágur randomly. Weather Channel app's extended forecast is partly cloudy at best for Monday & Thursday. Looks good but It’s not Iceland 🇮🇸 or Norway 🇳🇴 tho......or is it. Look forward to seeing more 😉👍
It's funny, because it kind of reminds me of both at the same time. But, we'll see at the end of it how I feel comparing it.

Its sunny today, come to my Island Vágar where the airport is and shoot, promise you will get great shots :)
We'll be there in a couple episodes!
How did we fit in that bed???

Its look like an Simple land bro

Please can you tell me your equipment for Vlogging? Camera, micro, etc.. PLEASE!
How to book a cheap ticket
1st again :)
Man, you even beat me. hahaha. 10 points.
This guy is so hot I wanna give him a hand...shake for sure lol
