I am italian and 200% committed to speak this beautiful language. I have been bewitched by Turkey when I visited Istanbul and I can't imagine another place in the world more fascinating than this. I give myself 6 months to be fluent. If I get to speak the language I can expand my knowledge of the country and the people and have an excuse to travel more often to mesmerising Turkey. Fascinating! Thank you so much for these amazing videos!
öğrendiniz mi ?
Ellie R have you learnt it?
cok tessekur ederim! senin dil nakadar guzelmis
can you speak turkish better now ? after 2 years ı really wondered about it 😅
I've been practising for 3 weeks, and a few days ago I tried to go to a turkish bakery, and I greeted and ordered in turkish for the first time!
When the baker asked Nasilsin, I said Ben iyiyim, Kurt gibi acim, and he was laughing really hard

Beklemekten ağaç oldum ... my favorite!
I just sneezed and my son said “God bless you” and I said “çok yaşa!” And explained to him in Turkish it’s what you say when someone sneezes, so he repeated it. Lol perfect timing to watch your video!
Your phrases are the same as American phrases when we’re joking and a bit cynical so it makes complete sense to me. Plus my mom is Japanese so we get even more strange phrases there 😂
You really come through in your videos, warm and pleasant!
In English we express the third sentence as : I'm hungry I can eat a horse 🐴. To show people how hungry we are.
Respect 😎👌
tru
Wow, in Ukrainian we would say " I am hungry so much I would literally eat a whole wolf(or a dog, weird anyway)!"😂😂
Ne güzel bir kızsın! Thank you, Selin! You are the best!
I am ftom pakistan , it's fun to learn Turkish. It's good to see that some of Turkish words we use in Urdu as well.
i love to learn urdu too!!! so far i know a lil bit of urdu and turkish. also Pakistan and Turkey still in my travel list too 💖 hoping one day i can visit there 💖
Selin, sen çok tatlısın!
YOK ARTIKKKKKKK!!! best videos everrrrr!! teşekkür ederim Selin!!!
In Thai, when we are waiting for someone or something for so long, we also have a phrase to say that the root is growing out of our feet.
çok yaşa
It is believed that when one sneezes his heart stops from beating. I am not sure if this is medically true ... That I think is the reason for using it. In Arabic we say Yarhamukum Allah ... which almost translates into God bless you.
Cok guzel Turkce lesson. Tesekkur ederim. Selamlar Karachi, Pakistan' dan.
Türkçe öğrendin mi?
İngilizce bilenler de bu tabirleri nasıl ingilizceye çeviririm diye izliyorlardır, çevirisi kulağa eğlenceli geliyor )
I really enjoy your videos. You select great phrases for us (foreigners) to know and you give many examples on how to use them.
Wow I knew most of them! Ne guzel!
Thank you very much for your valuable time.
I said to my friend s wife who is a Turk from Diyarbakir ," Ben kurt gibi agiyim' she laughed and said will call a shepherd to protect us from you.
I love Turkey
Her way of teaching is sooo soft and smooth... Anyways it seems learning Turkish as a native hindi speaker is quite easy we also use FALAN but as FULAN...
Ne güzel bir derstir
I almost use all of them except for “Başım şişti” .. it’s new for me 😅
Thanx a lot .. keep it up!
I like your way of teaching & giving lesson
I like Turkish people , culture, and of course the weather.

Çok teşekkür ederim Selin ! I am happy to see that I already know most of these expressions despite the fact that I have started learning Turkish only few months ago.Tthere is a similar expression in French for Kurt gibi açım which is "J'ai une faim de loup" which literally translates into I have a hunger of a wolf.
Your pronunciation amazed me
In italian we say too 'Im putting roots' but in a sense of settle in a new place.
The same meaning of 'Beklemekten ağaç oldum' would be 'I became old' 'So invecchiato' or more colloquial ' Ho fatto la muffa' 'I became full of mold'
Thanks for the video!! Really interesting as always!
yessss
Where are you living Damla Su?! If you are in izmir we could take a coffe and we could talk about that! :D

Amazing teacher
your voice ıs amazing and your explanation is really clear, thank you.. falan filan
I am Greek. I want to inform Turkish people and Greek people, and generally people that dont know it, that Greek and Turkish language have many, and i mean MANY similarities. For example, the phrase "i am hungry as a wolf" makes no sense to English or German or other languages BUT in Greek we use it exactly like that. We say it exactly like that. Also, hundreds of turkish words are used in greek as well,very slightly changed.. I had no idea before i started learning turkish. Some examples:
ENG=TUR=GRE
Watermelon=karpuz=karpuzi
couch= divan=divani
sign=tabela=tabela
luggage=bagaj=bagajia
pepper=biber-biberi
area=alani=alana
At this poing, i have to clarify that we also have the original greek words that dont originate from turkish, and we use these, as well. I hope you found my comment useful. Greetings from Greece. :)
I know one Greek word in Turkish: Kutu - box. I found that super weird because it's such a basic word :) I know there are many common words. We lived together for centuries.
Çok teşekkür ederim 🌞
Great! I like so much your class! You are a good teacher! Çok iyi! 👍😊👍

Omg lol 🤣🤣🤣
I love it
I love your examples Selin, you make it so interesting, thank you. Can you use çok yaşa in any other context or only for sneezing?
Great 👍🏼
You didn’t cover this one, but two that impress my friends is Allahaısmarladık and Allah kabul etse. These are religious kinds of phrases, but I find Turkish people are impressed when I say them.
what's mean of that if u don't mind
Bu video super!
Teşekkürler , I have been in some 55 countries but 15 times just in Turkey ;·) we have something similar in Latin languages (I originally come from southern Italy) in Italian sounds something like "wolfs hunger" and "I'm having [tree] roots" for instance. Ne güzel sounds more similar to American Spanish "cosa linda" :D
In the English speaking world if we are too hungry we sometimes say "I could eat a horse"
Selin, love from Somalia
nr. 4 in German we say "to get roots" "Wurzeln schlagen" because you waited so long
We use that in Turkish too. "Kök saldık" which means "We set the roots." this is more common than the version she said in the video.
Te§ekür ederiz selin
This channel is just awesome 10/10. Simply a nice and easy way to practice the Turkish language for any beginner.
Ps. Also, Selin is beyond cute!

Are you teaching in Turkey now?
Ne gulen selin😍!!
"Hungry like a wolf". Unless you are a wolf indeed 🐺🐺🐺. Always charming. Thank you.🤗☺
We use the same phrase in Polish. Possibly other languages have it too. Wolves are predators, so in ancient times people may have thought they're constantly hungry.
I liked the 7th 😁
English: I've got a head ache because of the noise! 😖
Russian: У меня голова болит из-за этого шума! 😖
Turkish: Başim şişti 😳 😁👍
So simple, isn't it? 😂
It sounds nice too :)
