    I’ve always liked VW’s styling from this era-particularly the Touareg, Phaeton, Passat

    Back in its day this was easily the best in market. It was plagued though by strong wear and tear and high fuel consumption „thanks“ to the immense weight.
    But there was nothing more comfortable, relaxing and well-made, so just pay up lol

    People gasping at a 100k Cadillac in the form of the latest Escalade when the W12 version of this Phaeton was pushing 100k in 2004 dollars and isn’t even a luxury brand… it’s not that the Phaeton was a bad car, it’s that almost nobody is going to pay 70-100k for what essentially looks like a bloated Passat, no matter how good it is.

    It’s a shame that this car didn’t do well because the second version was stunning. VW built a great car, but it is known for having electrical issues and expensive repair costs. MB and BMW can get away with that but VW can’t.

  • @Tigerfire75

    Why would Volkswagen need this car? Didn't they have Audi and Bentley at this time?

  • @ys_a1659
    @ys_a1659 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It was a good car with the wrong badge on it. Better be an Horch.
    Nobody wanted a car that looks like a blown up Passat.
    No this was not a rebadged Audi A8. This was how the A8 would have been built if they didn’t use Aluminum, because this has a steel body.
