Not only is Moses such a great & honorable organist. He is a very humble man. He firmly holds to sound doctrine & the preaching of The Word of God without compromise. He is a man of order & structure. I highly respect him.
Moses is very much so a Gospel Organ legend. The theatrics are apart of his personality and what makes him unique. I watched him live as an organist myself and he was truly a blessing and an inspiration. I had to pay homage to my ancestor that paved a way for me and gave me life musically. Its not about who's the best its about God's will for all. If you are a light that shines, inspires, upliftes and liberates your brother's and sister's that's eternal in nature and more powerful than just talent. God has given us Moses Tyson. Thank God for our divine brother🙏
The greatest gospel organist who ever lived, no one was more experienced whose fingers graced the hammond organ than the late great Prof. Alfred Bolden.
We used to have a group back in the sixties and my husband was the piano player and his brother was the director he played like that then I wonder what is he playing like now is gentleman can play he can make an organ talk to you that's what my husband used to do God has really blessed him throughout his life too praise God for him.
I’m confused about what rhondia meant as well I know my girl Twinkie got the hammond and I just heard that not many can get with her. But for me I am excited to hear anyone play. They put the work in to accomplish it so of course I hope they strive to give it their all. As long as you are not hurting others with what you do I don’t mind watching someone else who is talented. Shoot I’m not
Being a church organist for a good while, I consider Moses Tyson a good organist who is allowing his "showmanship" to outshine how great of a God-sent talent he truly is. Then again, if we are not careful, we can be such "entertainment junkies" that we think that WE are supposed to be pleased instead of God, who gave the man the talent in the first place!
I played So Many Times With Moses When Bishop W.L. Porter Brought Him From California To The Central Jurisdiction In The Early And Mid 80's Then A Little In The 90's. He Had A Jeri Curl, We Use Tear It Up. Everything He Plays Is Burning As We Call It Cause It's Gotta Be A Little Funk, Jazz Funk And Straight Stank Goodness And Oldschool Church Whirling Organ Playing. Tha's Some Southern California Organ Grinding
Rescue Mission COGIC. Vallejo CA. I grew up there and heard that brotha many of times. Inspired me to play keys. Todays organ players do far more acrobats he is a good person to listen to get a basic feel of old time Gospel music.
I was blessed to be able to grow up, watch him play here in the Bay Area and Play along with him. He, and his family is very blessed when it comes to music
I needed something to please my soul this morning and it has just been blessed by this blessed man of god. Music always dose it for me and when you play like this...................
It would be wrong to say Brotha Tyson plays the organ, if you never heard or seen him, that would be misleading,......what he does with the organ is something else!
Find some videos of the 5th Beatle, Billy Preston. He is truly one of the all time great organists. Anytime you can play Beethoven or Bach on the Hammond, you are one of the Greatest.
All you folk that don’t like Brother Tyson Videos ? Why are you on here. Go home and let us that enjoy his creative abilities enjoy the Musician. Most of you all commenting can’t play half as good as he can. He is a Master Musician. Appreciate his uniqueness and leave it alone!
Man, I used to listen to Moses Tyson Jr. way back in the days before the other organ greats. He's had a great influence on many organists and keyboardists. It always good to see how others come after these great artists and ministers and sometimes transcend them. Thanks Tyson Jr. For your willingness to bless others with what God has given you.
I never knew who he was until one Sunday I visited Noel Jones church and I was sitting right behind him singing and he said to me," You ought be up there!" Didn't find out until they called him up to play organ. He can DEFINITELY play regardless of how many times he played the same song ( according to the comments). I'm glad to have met him. NICE guy too.
Amazaing gift from the hands of our Heavenly Father..that's not from any lessons..The only lessons is simple....he's giving back and sharing what God gave to him. Blessed my soul..listen to his anazing grace and feed your soul🙏😊
The absolute best organ player I've ever, EVER heard! That man is gifted. You can catch the Holy Ghost just hearing him play. A straight musical genius. His playing literally gave me goosebumps, and brought tears to my eyes.
Just like some of these preachers around here. Building their own kingdom..lol He can play real well. He just need some humility like us all I must say
Definitely makes the organ talk in the tradition of gospel music...its not about all about using loads of irrelevant jazz runs and chords which is a different type of music...its about speaking the language of the spirituals in the tradition of the black american church....he certainly does that authentically ...he is a blessing to the COGIC body
This man has made a career out of playing the organ using a combination of blues and gospel riffs. A lot of the old school players did the same thing. If you listen to Billy Preston you will hear him do that glissando (sliding up and down the keyboard) using the 8-foot drawbar ( 3rd one ). Billy played for James Cleveland before he ventured into R&B and rock music. That lick always brought the house down. When you add the visual effects (hand waving, etc) it makes it more exciting. Technically Cory Henry is a superior player, Mr. Tyson is a good player but a great showman. He's just doing things that church folks aren't used to seeing. Nothing wrong with that. A lot of musicians started in the church and brought the style with them when they entered the secular world. I believe that Ray Charles was the first one to fuse the Gospel with R&B.
Ernest Valdez, have you ever listened to Joey De Francisco? He's a Jazz organist who was mentored by Jack McDuff. Check him out. Fantastic player! Cory is brilliant, though. God bless you, my Brother.
Definitely not the best! People see the theatrics and think that’s skill. It’s not as you know! I taught my 10 year old daughter how to make those theatrical sounds and she can’t play the organ yet.
Well he may not be the best but he plays the hell out of that organ, and he plays all the keys not just a few. Sure would like to hear you play, and don’t play that fundamental style like those hymn out of those hymn books
Sometime as a musician you have to engage the crowd. ...... it not always about showing off .... you have to know your crowd. ... some times less is more .....!!!!!😁😁😁😁😁
I enjoyed his playing loved it in fact, Im a professional bassist 35yrs and Ive played with hundreds of great Gospel, musicians, organist I didn't get the impression that he's showing off in my opinion, musician's intuition I guess, believe me I have seen musicians show off drummers, organist, guitarist, spotlight on them 15 minute solos, Lol, their arrogance and attitude towards other musicians seen it all, I enjoyed his playing...
You can have all the synthesizers, electronic organs, keyboards you want but nothing can match or beat the sound of a Hammond Organ
Rhodes
Pretty amazing though probably not trying to compete
Amen❤. To the above comments. The Hammond❤ has its place, and the Rhodes😮❤ have their place.
Arthur Williams from Chicago. The Maestro!

Jimmy Smith and Reggie Roberts are on that list at the top. Moses is a product of those cats, Sly Stone and Bay Area funk.
I dont know who that is, but I knew who Cornell Thigpen was and he was the greatest organist I have EVER HEARD PLAY.
@@YouGotOptions2 there have been many greats. Nobody lives for ever and they all pkup and respect each other. Anything else is Couch Quartin backing.

The keyboardist, did an excellent job accompanying him! drummer also!
This man is anointed My Lord!
How?😂
at 3:43 even the organ said "WOW!" it had no idea it could sound that smooth.
LOL. I enjoyed watchin' and hearing this joker play. Old school just havin' fun. Sometimes people need to loosin' up in church.
I really feel this comment
There's a difference in being good at your craft, and being good and playing with the Spirit of the Holy Ghost. He's good at his craft.
UUMMM HUH?
So you are expecting ppl to just catch the holy ghost on command? And your comment is a 1 giant sentence fragment by the way..
Both of those should run hand in hand! There CAN be a difference, but there doesnt have to be!
I’m confused about what rhondia meant as well

Playing an organ like that is the closest thing to magic I've ever seen.

God did give him a gift to play.
Many have the gift or talent... but how they choose to use the gift is where the subject starts. I am not exempt from this either.

Yassss u better play that organ
For those of you listening for the first time, i promise you there are more words to the song than
"I once was blind, but now I see"...
Thank you! This (show) by Moses Tyson is what happens when you make it all about yourself and not about God.

I saw Billy in person. He was a real gifted musician.
Perhaps, but you never even thought to thank them for this posting. Why would the now jump hoops to please you? Find the video yourself! 🐸

Ernest Valdez agreed! He kept holding and repeating the same riffs a lot and extending the parts but it was meh for me.
I also agree korey and gleen Gibson jr are the real ones along with mike b and a few more
