I think the monki island is perfect, because it's not THE thing you NEED to look for whenever you travel the ocean, but whenever you see it you'll have a smile on your face.
It's just one more thing to make the ocean feel more alive, wich has always been its biggest issue!

I like having monkey tails at base cause with bees and reeds I can make honey poultice and as a wormwood main that’s good healing + living logs

Rocks accumulate a lot. I wish we could make like a mortar and pestle for that instead of that tho.
Or you could play Woodie for a day and generate far more Living Logs, far far faster :/
Wormwood main? I would love to play with a Wormwood main sometime.
Polly Roger's hat is a really nice option for when items are just out of reach like with mining salt or maybe on sea where you don't want to do a 180 degree turn for a single item, I think it has some cool uses
The bandana halves ore usage, so its actually pretty useful since sails are meh
I feel growing bananas is huge for situations where you'll need sanity. Since you can use 2 bananas and 2 twigs for the banana shake making it the best source of sanity food.
It'll allow you to always have the enlightened crown always active during boss fights and if you bundle them then you'll always have free light and can ignore any other portable light source
Also being able to trade in wires as wurt, wortox and Webber by just being wonkey allows you to benefit from all of ruins drops

It is, but cactus are more accesible and generally there's no reason to bother getting bananas, plus you'd have to turn them into banana shakes later while cactus only need to be cooked on a campfire.

I like the update cause it give me more things to do/different challenges, I don't like so much to kill bosses or explore ruins (Im a casual player and I find the ruins really stressful) so I really enjoy to get surface bananas, and the docks for salt (hope to get some barnacles too, I like to be a Chef in DST and cook all the cookbook during my runs)

I think there should be a first m-ape in the game that throws barrels of powder monkeys at you.
Imo banana bushes are good simply because of the convince. If your not basing in the oasis it’s a pain to pick cactus (and even if you are you need to wear armor) and green mushroom are great for some sanity when exploring but are very annoying to get in any large amount. Bananas can grow in your base, make cheap sanity foods, and with the new update (Ik it was after the vid) wicker can get sanity for free buy growing them with her books the letting the books regen. The only downside is they need to be cooked in a crockpot but even that is pretty fast if you have a normal 6 crockpot setup.
I think boat bumpers are going to be pretty cool, it might just be because I'm bad at sailing, but I feel like it's way too easy to take damage on a boat, even just paddling back to shore sometimes I come in a little bit too fast and bonk into the wall. It's usually just incidental damage that doesn't matter too much, but still having something to soak that hit up sounds nice
I find banana bushes really useful as wurt as it makes healing a trivial. 1 ice 1 banana and 2 filler (probably kelp) and you get banana daiquiri for 30 health a pop. You only need like 5ish bushes to get enough healing for boss fights but it scales up really well
I like cannons because they can repel pirate raids and then I just chase them XD

It depends, typically for major content updates like the moonquay island, I wait for the content to be completed before covering it since klei changes a lot of things for it in the beta, but for character reworks/updates I feel as though klei isn't going to make huge changes that'd age the video poorly
If Keli added something like a telescope to see things in the ocean on the main land. Knowing where the island is would make the option be more impactful. But overall just no reason to go find it.
The bananas are great for late game. Very good long term investment.
About rushing the island, it's not that bad, I usually have just a stack of trash, so the monkeys can pick it, and the reward is kinda nice, at least in my experience you can get like 10 monkey tails and 10 banana bushes almost everytime, and the gears are also a great addition (kinda good if you want fligomatics in your first summer)
About location, is kinda weird sometimes, but is basically the opposite of lunar island, in lunar island you look for branches that looks like they're joining, in monkey island you look for branches that leave lots of free space, and it is near of the limits, as it is today this mapping has worked for me 6 of 7 times.

I'm sorry, but I just don't agree. I seriously can't say enough about how awful this update is, simply because of the addition of the stupid Accursed Trinkets. Their very existence and the way they're implemented is more than enough for me to consider it by far the worst addition to the game.
Even if there was particularly good content or if they'd added fun bosses (neither being the case), the player-hostile nature of the trinkets makes it a total and complete non-starter for me.

I really, really hate 'opinion videos' when it comes to this game. I don't see why your opinion on the way you play this game and the way you want it to be should remotely interest me, me being someone who doesn't mind variety and even welcomes new ways to do things in the game. Yeah, of course you can wear a tam 24/7 to gain sanity, but imagine if that was the ONLY way to gain sanity...everyone's playstyle would be the same. So boring. Bring on new ways to do things, new options. Have fun with the game. Not everyone is out for speedruns and meta strats. And honestly, if I wanted cruddy opinions or someone commanding me how to play this game, I would've just continued watching EdgyRicks videos smh

Its not about HAVING an opinion, its about why a content creator's opinion on a game that is able to be played in so many different and creative ways matters to anyone at all. He doesn't like that banana bushes are a thing now? Well whoop-de-do, why do you think people would care enough that you would make a youtube video about it?
Almost agree, I think that listening to the opinions of pro players/speed runners is interesting because they know more about the technical part of the game
