One thing you missed was the Nautomatic Pilot, an item obtainable only via Too Many Items or commands. It's basically a magnet that goes on boats and comes paired with an item to attract to. The player holds the item and the magnet pulls the boat towards it, but only when the player is off the boat.
WX-78 also thinks Wilson is trying to use it to kill him.
Did you seriously just tell me, us, that we missed an item that isn't implemented into the game and is in the files? Why on Earth would I talk about it if it's not apart of this update?!

One thing that Klei should do is allow the player to use messages in a bottle to find the island, so we don't have to spend hours trying to find it.

Slowly but surely they are interpreting a lot of Shipwrecked updates and bringing them to DST, yes. For better or worse depending on who you ask and what it is they're actually interpreting that is.

Wilbur is missing walking through the lands of don't starve together, the interactions and synergies he would have with the curse and the queen would be magnificent in addition to being able to have a retinue of pirate monkeys
I agree but it's too late now. Wonkey is the new Wilbur without having Wilbur's best perks...

That grass boat is really gonna help out Wurt players get seaweed to shore really quickly for snacks. The fact it's just a temporary boat with no commitment means you don't even need to worry about much! No complicated crafting, either! Wurt's really just been eating good recently, huh?
I wonder if those grass boats are small enough to squeeze through the thin gaps between biomes, I hate when I build boats within a bay only get stuck inland
The only lose 1 health every 5 seconds and can be healed for 14 per grass so they really are not that bad.
the cutless also steals enemy items in pvp, which is cool. Anyway, the fish traps are pretty cool honestly, after you get fish food from crabby hermit. just throw fish food right in the traps and enjoy free fish sticks!
also you can place docks only on shallow waters.
Great! But who the heck actually uses fish food in this game? Again, I said the trawlers were good at what they do because they are. I also said they are too reliant on players having to be near or working on them to have any function whatsoever because that is also true. Fish farms but terrible fish farms.

I completely forgot Fish Food existed. I agree with it working closer to a bee box for fish, but Fish Food should absolutely have an interaction with it. It would be less forgettable with an actual use.
This update brings allay from mine craft, "fish farms" and treasure hunt from shipwrecked, renuable gears to noobs, bananas in the surface, sand floor to decorate, plantable cutreeds, BRIDGES! wow.
This update have so much potential!! It finally give to the sea the sansation that return of them was trying.
I've seen this "Allay" thing mentioned many times today and yet I have no clue what anyone is going on about...

The cursed trinkets are a cool idea! Being able to turn into a character by other means is so cool! I'm surprised klei hasn't done something like this in ds or dst.

1. I think the unnatural portal is connected to Wagstaff's experiments with the moon energy from the last "arc" I guess you could call it

WX-78's inspection quotes for the Portal and the broken machinery backs up the first point. He recognizes Wagstaff's work and even suspects that Wilson is using Wagstaff's technology and trying to kill him.

theory, the Constant is built like a cake. Hamlet at the top, Constant at the middle, and Shipwrecked at the bottom. The moon affects the mind, so the Pigmen there are considerable smarter than the other 2. With the piece of the moon landing, the lands will soon be at level ground. this is my theory... XD, granted no one asked.
But aren't wildbores like. More smarter? They can say 4 sentences words and unlike pigman. They are aware you are destroying their home that's why they straight up attack you when hammering once

Fun fact that needs to be known they bury the items they take in a random x marks the spot and it seems like you just need to find 1 in order to get everything back

The only part that I didn't like was the x marks the spot, I've seen this mechanic in some woodlegs mods and I always thought it would be much better to use the treasures that we already have in the game, even more that the update is naval, in my opinion it would be much more interesting to explore the sea, kill the raids, get the location of sunken chests and use pinchin' winch to get sunken chests with improved loot. Overal it looks like a great update.

@@BuetifullPersun whether you have negative feelings toward it or not, it still embraces DST mechanics a lot more than the original idea. The point of using it is that it’s slightly more difficult, but boasts better loot (which is always a good thing).
The wonky curse to any character is awesome, thats gotta open so many doors to future plans and mods with other advantagable curses... sure woody and wilba have their were-transformations but coming from a willow main, this is a super refreshing balance going between forms
It might be worth it for certain charecters like maxwell, or wes to intentionally curse themselves for better stats and sprinting.
Yea but using them would remove the challenge of playing as Wes but then again if you can make it to that point playing as him you’ve probably suffered enough
@@crazycanyon3028 I'm more interested in using it as a temporary buff for certain charecters to help negate their main weakness like giving Maxwell more health for bosses or making woodie immune to the endless full moons that moon storms cause.
I feel like every other month you say "one of the biggest updates we've ever flippin' seen" and that makes me so happy bc it's no exagerration

this is a cool update! I don't know if I just missed this or you didn't say it, but how much damage does the pirate captain monkey do? and, what happens if you should get an accursed trinket but your inventory is full?
34 damage is what I assumed simply because the guy is holding the battle paddle. I didn't think much of it beyond that.
This trinket will drop something out of your inventory to fit into your pocket
Literally the best ocean update by far
Canons will so so good for crab King and fun boat pvp, new enemies with cool new loot, more ocean life, new ways to make better boats, ocean bridges, new late game stuff, and a lot of new farms easy 10/10

That portal is very interesting perhaps it connects the don't starve world's like the sea and sky worthy of normal don't starve so if klei needs to add stuff from Hamlet or shipwrecked it might just come flying out that portal
Looks like any dock tiles not connected to land, directly or by proxy, break after all tiles connected to land break. So if you have more than one point of contact, docks should be mostly safe from mass destruction.
I believe based on the description dock pilings will help your dock be more sturdy and less likely to randomly break.

Heyo! Have you ever considered making a "how to get back into dst in 2022" type of video? Or even a "the basics of dst in -insert current game version here-"? Having played and subsequently dropped the game due to life getting busy, it seems like the game keeps getting further and further away from my understanding with so many updates passing by and I'd love a guide!

What happens when you have Lucy or Abigail and turn into a monkey?
So the parts I gathered as most interesting.
I think they should make it so the Dock pilling can be used to help establish a player made dock island that can be separated from the mainland.
The Polly Roger hat can maybe be used to farm cave holes without using any orange gems, as well as collecting from auto farms.
Fish trap can be used in deep ocean maybe to catch large ocean fish 4 at a time.? (I don’t know, I haven’t tested it)
Lastly, does this mean it may be possible to have your base made entirely under a waterlogged tree? Or better yet, plant an entire waterlogged Forest as a mega base?

A little theroising, the broken macenery around the unnatural portal kinda looks like wagstaff's experiment.
No need to theorize that my friend. It's 110% Wagstaff's doing. Even the monkey homes look like his experiments.

your kind of sleeping on the tralwer nets beard, when ever im in a server that bases by a river the amounter of players near by means fish schools explode by the shore so this new item in multiplayer will be godly for shore line bases
I am sleeping on it because I do not do that, nor have I heard that many people even do. I said that they're good at what they do because they are. I also said that they're too reliant on players having to be near them to make them function even a little bit because that is also true.
@@TheBeard777 I think that they could be good for Wurt mains since as soon as they enevitably make it so u can place turf on the docs all of the wurts will make bases around the big trees and then have fruit,kelp,and fish all of which helps the wurt meta(omg is klei just going to secretly buff wurt in every update now :D )
Theory Wagstaff was at that island cause he wanted to investigate the portal or rift he left behind those pieces of machinery once the monkeys came and he had to leave due to their aggressiveness barley able to collect all the supplies once the monkeys realized that the portal would randomly eject stuff they decided to build a town around it to collect any spoils
Haven't tried this but i heard the bandana also speeds up the time to use things on the boats like pulling up anchors and other things like that

My thoughts on how this will buff wurt (who in my opinion is already s tier)
:so from this update (this is assuming they will make a way to add swamp turf to the planks eventuality) wurt gets more reeds more fish more fruit (banana and figs since figs are effectively late game wurt meta and cus the pirate captains drop sap so u can get trees faster) summer protection,lightening protection(actuly viable now because you can make a circle around a tree) gold farms (fish farms) merm labor farms (fish farms) sanity farms (fish farms)
Speculation: (needs to be tested but these maybe something you could do) farm plots on the planks , maybe something cool happens when you are wonky and u use the celestial portal, wonky could be a meta strat for ruins rushing, maybe you don’t have to take care of the grass tufts if they are spawned by portal, hopefully they add a way to reinforce the docks so they don’t all break, more compact and nicer looking lureplant farm, mabey somthing happens if you put the thing you use to spawn the celestial champion on the portal, mabey the monkeys will get into a rivalry similar to the pigs and merms, mabey they could add fishermerms so wurt could autofarm fish, mabey you could use the auto fishers to auto farm malbatross, mabey you can kill crab king without him getting agro with cannons.
i think we will never able to do this, cuz the planks are a turf, so i think we cants put a turf over a turf. but the fish farm and fig-base is already amazing if the planks get more "solid" and not break so often.

If the trawling thing counts as fishing to the game then you're probably on the right track. It all depends if the game has to think it's the player actually catching the fish.

Retrofitting has been a thing in every update for 2 straight years. I don't see them stopping now.
So you still get the cursed items from pirate monkeys too. That mean you must go to the new island to free up a slot of you engage. Frustrating and neat.
Also, that portal, I wonder if it's connected to the deeper archives or deeper ruins considering the mechanical parts. Or is this connected to wagstaffs workshop and it spews put his failurs
Yeah, that first part is a concern honestly... especially when we have no way to pinpoint the islands location.
@@TheBeard777 if you have a single trinket, it should act like the divining rod in classic ds. It doesn't have to be a radar per say, but the character react like the trinket is calm, it's vibrating, and of course it's going crazy kf you are close to the island
But is there any downside to being Wonkey? Beard only said it removes downsides, and it also adds considerable upsides as well. Unless you are playing as Wigfrid, Wolfgang, or Wortox, your health stat is not heavily impacted, and if you're playing wigfrid, your diet is now expanded. Tbh if Wonkey turns out to just be an upside then I think that's silly, it's a CURSE for a reason.
@@MrAhkmid I believe it's losing your character perk mainly and I guess the loss of the one inventory slot
@@are0us913 does Wonkey get rid of your perks? If it does then that's an acceptable downside, but in the case of Wilson (once you've shaved off a few full beards) and Wes there is zero reason not to be Wonkey.
On the topic of Wes, they should make his Wonkey form benefit-less because it's funny to make Wes comically underpowered
Can you steal the pirates’ ship and is it any different from the ones you can build? Also can you place fish bins on the docks? I love this update, no one really builds their bases along the water to begin with

Maybe the Unnatural Portal is the opposite to the moon stuff in the Lunar Siphonator, so maybe it is a nightmare portal?

You wouldn't be able to make a dock out to him in 99% of situations anyways but I do think they would be damaged regardless, yes.

No, we can only become Wonkey via accursed trinkets and yes, we can stay as him as long as we DON'T trade with the Queen to the point of losing all 10 trinkets.

I'm excited for everything here outside of the monkey raids. As someone who play on his own they seem really annoying to deal with.

Has anyone else noticed that "moon quay island" is basically a fancier way of saying "Monkey Island" Or is that just me?
All in favor for this update but the only thing I dislike is how the monkey-raids when you're at sea/on your island (not near near Moon Quay Island) still gives you cursed trinkets. It could be really annoying to deal with if you play with modded characters or you're just too far and not wanting to be forced to swap to wonkey. If the cursed trinket was something that was limited towards Moon Quay island or alternative solution to remove trinkets without going to monkey Queen I think that could be cool too. Overall good sea update 👌🏽
Ok am I missing something? Wonkey seems like an objective upgrade, unless it removes your character's upsides as well as it's downsides. Beard only mentioned the removal of downsides.

They drop from our inventories, not our hands. Her perk doesn't matter because of that.

You are overthinking things, just like how Klei overthought the cannons themselves. Possible? Sure. Likely? Not even close. Rudders also impact the direction boats sail.

I made 2 worlds on the beta and both of them had the island near the lunar + a friend of mine found his near the lunar island too
Pure coincidence potentially. We don't know yet but I can tell you that mine didn't do that so again, it's likely random.
the very first world I generated in the beta had a lunar archipelago coming across the mainland, lul

I literally just built a boat bridge to the lunar island. The dock kit would have been much better looking. Still, pretty resource-intensive, though.
Docks can't go into deeper waters though so...

Beard you say the docks can break down but you didn't explain / show how that may be possible? Can you elaborate? Because let's say if it is a decay sort of thing then why bother.
I literally blew them up with both cannons and gunpowder in this very video... They don't decay over time, they need to be hit by something to begin breaking.

The trawlers are probably gonna be good for me, but not really for a good reason. See, my game is so laggy that all sea fishing pole lures glitch out & fly off the map, never landing in the water. So these things are gonna be the only way I can get sea fish!
