Just watched for the second time and teared up during Pulling Teeth. Cliff was a genius and technically astounding. I get so used to seeing modern Metallica that I forget what a gift he was. This is why we need these videos. Incredible show.
I love how Kirk manage the show, he is very calm, still smile and finished despite of grabbing his guitar, he has the cutest smile you ever want, and it seems James have fun with it, lol
Simply incredible! This should be an inspiration to all new music artists. The fact that four 20 year olds could writethis kind of music, lyrics from scratch and play this good live is amazing. This is why Metallica is still not only relevant today but leading the heavy metal industry.
This was a sacred moment in rock history, Cliff smahing his bass strings with Anethesia, Lars with a moustache, James pointing at the crowd and finally Kirk´s incident .
Cliff is just in his usual little world head banging throughout the whole show. He was a very awesome dude and was a bit of a musical genius with the harmonies and stuff. I hope he is resting in total peace and still banging his head on his new journey.
I noticed that he’s head banging to the bass riffs and not necessarily the song itself which is pretty cool, he enters his own zen state of bass RIP cliff
Thrash Metal 101 Just think if Cliff wasn't killed, what do ypu think he would of done during that crazy Bob Rock sellout days in the mid 90s? James still didn't grow his hair back 20+ years later. "Ok Cliff, you have to dress different, cut all your hair off and play shit music and wait, you'll also have to put some makeup on too. 😰😰😰
Ken Sturm If you knew anything about Metallica history, what makes each member tick and what made Cliff tick. You would understand that Cliff was the one experimenting and pushing the other ones the most when it came to new ideas, sounds and styles. Cliff would embrace and lead the era you call “sellout”. He would’ve taken Metallica way further out on that road and He would’ve been the one holding them there longer. Think more in the line of LuLu, concept albums and individual side projects. You are idolizing Cliff using made up traits. Please don’t.

40+ solid years of legendary concert after legendary concert I can’t stop saying this the longer they go on for they’ll never stop they’ll never quit cause there Metallica!!🤟🔥🔥
In my opinion no other bass player at that time was playing bass like Cliff Burton when he had joined Metallica in 1983. At the same time Cliff really loved playing music and his bass solos in Chicago was unheard of because many people never saw that before by a bass player who was talented and gifted like Cliff and his legacy of Metallica will always live on forever.
Yes! God old 'Tallica fueled with anger and alcohol. A set consistent of only KEA songs, Cliff on bass, James pointing at everybody without a particular reason, people banging the hell out of their heads and no cell phones in sight... what else could you ask for? Best Live Monday everrrr!!!
It’s just insane to see them play in such a small venue. I saw them in ‘97 on the Load tour with the huge stage shaped like a guitar that took up the whole floor of the arena. That was only 14 years after this, which is nothing compared to how long ago this show was today.
I like how everyone is a drum expert, calm the f down you probably only played rockband or guitar hero, think for yourself instead of following what normies think 🤘🤘
Its amazing to watch this with understanding that Lars played drums for just a 3 years... He always knew what he wanted to do. Cheers up for everyone who reading this :3
Lars looks like he's getting in great shape again practicing a bunch and ready to crush us again. Last time I saw them in Spokane in December of 18 he was playing perfectly. I hope after this shit blows over we can look forward to seeing you guys out on the scene destroying everyone with your trademark Metallica crunch. Hopefully a new album soon. Also I love Lars with his intros.
They've always had that incredible stage presence and sound. I love it when James says "this one is gonna kill all the fake people out there, all the posers. We fuckin' hate them". I roared with laughter. The nostalgia of that statement warmed my heart. Metallica was a huge part of my youth and I found a great outlet for my rage. Never too old to feel gleeful over memories of teasing posers and all the dorky hair bands like Poison and yuck, I can't even think about those pansy ass lady man lilyanthals. The first time I listened to Metallica was Master of Puppets around the time it was released. I was a freshman in HS, my friend borrowed the cassette tape in her brother's collection & we were blown away. The music scared the crap out of me but it opened the door for a lifetime of real music with natural born talent. I was a teen in the 80s, posers & pop artists unfortunately dominated the music charts. Thank God for Metallica!! I hope to see you guys in Buffalo again. You guys were, are, and always will be the kings of heavy metal. I don't know if you guys read the comment sections (probably not), but if you do, keep your head up, James. I knew just by watching your shows and noticing your demeanor last year that you were struggling. I am so glad that you made it back. I'm in recovery and will have 4 years clean in July. I went back to college & worked hard & earned another degree. I'm now an official therapist. Those demons just sneak up out of nowhere sometimes. You have a lot of love and support.

10:23 James air guitaring kirk's solo whilst playing rhythm whilst acting out a wah pedal
Simply incredible! This should be an inspiration to all new music artists. The fact that four 20 year olds could writethis kind of music, lyrics from scratch and play this good live is amazing. This is why Metallica is still not only relevant today but leading the heavy metal industry.
Goats 🐐
Lol.
I’m literally 20 years old watching four other 20 year olds slowly becoming metal legends lol
This was a sacred moment in rock history, Cliff smahing his bass strings with Anethesia, Lars with a moustache, James pointing at the crowd and finally Kirk´s incident .
This was the best Metallica Monday so far in my opinion.
For sure!
Yeah I love their old shows. I'd love if they played the Day on the Green show with Cliff.
Yep, agree
slane was personally my favourite because it was my first metallica show and they put on a great performance
The worst
Cliff is just in his usual little world head banging throughout the whole show. He was a very awesome dude and was a bit of a musical genius with the harmonies and stuff. I hope he is resting in total peace and still banging his head on his new journey.
I noticed that he’s head banging to the bass riffs and not necessarily the song itself which is pretty cool, he enters his own zen state of bass RIP cliff
One of the many reasons 83 was a better year then 2020...🤘🤘
36:45 cause you re METALLICA, this is why Metallica is the best band in the world!!
Pit G Was one, not today
Ken Sturm 🤦🏻♂️
Ken Sturm you are right there’s no doubt to that
Thrash Metal 101 Just think if Cliff wasn't killed, what do ypu think he would of done during that crazy Bob Rock sellout days in the mid 90s?
Fun fact: Lars Ulrich JUST began playing drums ONE YEAR before they made kill em all. That's pretty damn cool if ya ask me. 😎
It's amazing how good he sounds. He really let himself go according to some people

They sound so much better without all that bullshit, this is amazing. This is the way i remember hearing all this in 93,94 when i was 8 or 9. Man, amazing!!!
I remember all the clips from this show mixed into the Cliff Em All video -- young Metallica -- just kids still -- such energy, everyone there having a great time. It's a beautiful thing man.

No, that pointing has a reason. It's called the Metallica Point, lol.
Back in the day Metallica had 1 drummer, 1 vocalist, 1 bassist and 3 Lead guitarist!
I was at the rock and roll hall of fame in Cleveland last year. They have Cliff’s bass from this show. Felt so surreal being next to it. 🤘
Finally a Concert without Nothing and Sandman 🤣🤘
That's what my husband said. I started laughing.
And without everyone in the crowd waving their phones in the air.

Love those two songs but it's nice to see an early concert with songs that aren't played often anymore. (phantom lord, no remorse)
They only played songs from the 'new' album.
It’s just insane to see them play in such a small venue. I saw them in ‘97 on the Load tour with the huge stage shaped like a guitar that took up the whole floor of the arena. That was only 14 years after this, which is nothing compared to how long ago this show was today.
My first Metallica gig was in SF March '83. Great tour supporting the mighty Raven. Good memories guys, thanks!

Wow , imagine being at this show and knowing no matter what song they play its going to be great.
I love that part too, it makes No Remorse really a song that kills the posers

It’s weird to think that at that point Metallica was at a level of success most bands only dream of today. It really puts into perspective how huge they got after the black album.
