    Flying into Jackson Airport was great for our trip. Coming from the east coast it saved a whole half day of travel as opposed to flying to SLC. It may have been a bit more expensive, but the views on the plane coming in were breathtaking. Flying into Jackson was a great way to start a 2 week long vacation and would absolutely do it again

    Just finished a 3 week camping trip that included Rushmore, Tetons, Yellowstone, and Glacier. First time to all of these parks. We loved Tetons because everything was easily accessible, and it was easy to get to anywhere in the park. The Snake river raft trip was awesome, and I also recommend the boat across Jenny lake and hiking the trails into the mountains on the other side. My wife and I are somewhat mobility limited, but we still made it to inspiration point. Also recommend the view of the park from atop Signal Mountain, you can see much of Jackson Hole from there.
    About the town of Jackson, we never strayed farther south than the elk preserve since we don't care for crowded tourist shopping areas.

    I totally agree about the wildlife! We saw four bull moose, two female moose and a baby, a fox, TONS of pronghorn, bison, several elk, some little ferret/mink looking creature I couldn’t identify… lol 😂 I’m sure I’m forgetting something but we saw a LOT!! Jackson is super expensive, but worth it to be close to the park in my opinion. The views and experiences we had in Grand Teton were totally worth the price point to us! I guess we’ll day we loved it, but only because it’s the most convenient location. Love your videos, as always!🎉💕

Spoiler alert-dinner at the Cowboy Bar is way overpriced and not that great. Lol 😆 all of the other food we had in Jackson was great! We’ve been going to Jackson almost every summer since 2003. We are in Oklahoma. Mostly we drive our RV and camp. We’ve stayed at a hotel a few times. We love it. We love Jackson the town and the surrounding area. Yellowstone is terrific and exceeds the hype, but you will have really missed something if you miss out on Grand Teton park.

    Thanks as always for your video. We visited Jackson for the first time last month and we loved all of it. We are coming back next year to do it all again. We rented a condo in Wilson at the Aspens and it was great. It didn't take long at all to get into the park. We had moose in the neighborhood most days too and in our backyard, We didn't spend a lot of time in town as we were so busy with other things, but will next year for sure. The Bar T 5 cowboy cookout was the best. We might even do it again next year. Your videos on both parks were so helpful in our planning. Thanks again.

    I have been going to that area for years. It is just beautiful. I even go over to see the Elk in the refuge during winter. A visit to the city of Jackson has really changed over the years. The crowds now are just unbelievable and there doesn't seem to be much of a down time. In years past, the time in late fall was perfect, far fewer folks. Now it seems to be packed all the time.

    We recently travelled to Jackson, Jenny Lake Lodge , Jackson Lake Lodge and loved it all. We visited the Grand Tetons as well as Yellowstone - we paid for stays at both lodges because thats what it cost. Too old to camp,. 84 and rickety 🙂 We are retired, on pensions and SSI, the cost to enjoy is what it is - so don't go blaming California for buying up the land when its really folks from all over the USA with big pockets who buy huge lots and build huge homes - its their right - don't ya think? If I could afford a home in Wyoming or Montana I would buy too. I think there less than 1 million people living in either state or just over 1 million in Montana - guess what, the majority is either owned by the US government or Ted Turner or some Congress person, movie star and others - and not necessarily from California 😉 The video and descriptions are top notch here, the views spectacular, the wildness is amazing. We plan on retuning another time because of the serenity here, the young people (who are seasonal) and who are hard working and respectful of us tourists.
    Thank you for this video

    In regards to wildlife of YNP vs GTNP that has been changing since 1995. Before 1995 you would see more wildlife in YNP than GTNP with grizzlies limited north of Jackson Lake. Some of the big changes were the addition of wolves and the expansion of grizzly bears. More of Jackson Hole is close to roads and has a sizable population center in it which the wolves and grizzly boars (male bears) don't really like. Result more moose/elk/and grizzly sows with cubs by the road.

    The park road is closed during the winter because they do not plow it. It’s only open for a few miles on each end (the north and south entrances) and there is no entrance fee since you’d only drive down the road upon entering. The road from the north entrance to Yellowstone is closed during winter months for this same reason. The highway in between Jackson - Moran - Dubois is plowed and open all winter.

    • @WereintheRockies
      @WereintheRockies  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your comments but I do want to mention that Grand Teton does not close during winter but many roads and services do. Directly from the national park site, "Grand Teton National Park is open 24 hours every day, year-round. From November through April, some roads, all campgrounds, and most visitor facilities are closed or have reduced hours." Check here for more info: www.nps.gov/grte/planyourvisit/hours.htm

    • @yiegs3704
      @yiegs3704 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WereintheRockies correct. The park stays open but about 80% of the road is closed is inaccessible by vehicle. So if anyone is planning to see anything in between Taggart Lake and Signal Mountain Lodge in the winter - get your snowshoes and skis out 😁 there are certain closures during winter to protect wildlife but a solid portion of the park is open for some sweet backcountry pow turns. 👍🏼

    OK, Jackson is a city. I live in a TX city. I prefer to be out in mother nature not a city so I only go into Jackson for gas and food. I stay in Gros Ventre campground each time I go. Camping is so much cheaper and a whole lot more fun! Thank you for distinguishing the difference between Jackson and Jackson Hole. It bugs me when people talk about Jackson Hole the city. GTNP is one of my favorite parks with the iconic peaks, the Mormon barns and the wildlife. Cheryl I love your t-shirt and I want one. Where do I get one? I won't look as good in it as you do. I am finally planning on visiting the Big 5 next May and will be using your videos to help me plan. I had quadruple bypass in August and the best recovery medicine is a drive thru southern Utah and the beautiful scenery. The hikes will be very limited but there is so much more to do. I had surgery rehab when I was supposed to be in the Tetons and Yellowstone but had to cancel my reservations. Utah Rocks! Can't wait to see it.
