To me, the Bleach songs are the real highlights of this show. Dave Grohl's drumming and the addition of Pat Smear as second Guitarist takes them to a level of heaviness way beyond the original album versions.
The only two Bleach songs they played were School and About a Girl. I wish they had played Negative Creep, because judging by how gnarly School was, that song would have been a barn burner!
It’s due to their prevalence in they’re music and songwriting and relatable lyrics I don’t think they ever will, I at least see a nirvana shirt everyday, and teenagers like me still listen to them even though we weren’t alive during the grunge movement.
I can’t believe you guys still believe he killed himself. A documentary called “Soaked in Bleach”, watch it. A podcast called “the death of Kurt cobain” by Steven Pacheco, listen to it.
I have viewed 1000's of videos and read 100000's of comments. Your comment here is so profound to me. I agree Pat is a badass even though I think the performance of Kurt and Dave is the main course
Dave Grohl always managed to improve that drums, it's perfect, bordering on the divine and let's not even talk about the bass and Kurt's voice. Simply mythical.
There are many concerts I deeply regret never having seen before in person and this is one of them. I cannot get over how great Nirvana was live and especially with Pat Smear.
@@SpencerFoust Might be, prior to joining Nirvana he hadn't been touring and playing this much for like 10 years and I reckon Nirvana had a really tight schedule after IU came out. Too bad his time in the band was cut short, he really killed it...
There's such a simple but profound and almost comedic presence to this song, insane riffs, probably my favorite Nirvana song, period. I have heard a version where he sings to the crowd, "you're in night school again," love that one too! But I agree this is the best version....
hey tom, do you think you could do a setup tour one of these days? like showing off your guitars, amps, presets, all that stuff. thanks! P.S. keep up with the covers, they are all great!
Definitely my favorite live version of School and if you're a Nirvana fan, you know there's a lot of them they played it at virtually every show. But Pat Smear adds a boost here and Kurt is absolutely blazing!
Yeah, top this!!! The atmosphere on the stage amping up, the way it fuels the crowd... The way those drums role in before all hell breaks loose... And that's just the start of it all... The rawness of it, all the while maintaining a solid musical piece... pure magic!!!

Kurt had his demons, but he was an uncompromising artist, a social progressive at a time when it wasn't "cool" to be one, and by all accounts, a genuinely kind and empathetic soul. One of my personal heroes. RIP legend.
Man, this song is like a shot of adrenaline and 5 redbulls. Kurt looked ethereal in this performance, but also sad knowing he was likely out of it and had scabs/cigarette marks from his drug-induced behavior. Thank you, Kurt, you are missed.
What genius song. Taking heavy rock and infusing it with lyrics that invoke Charlie Brown and the frustrations of school aged children. God I loved this band.
This is such a banger and I love this vid because all of them are going mental with their instruments like pat smear looks awesome 😎 Kurt’s voice is unmatchable my goodness and I like how he goes so close to the mic it’s like something he does 😂
I don't know why but this is one of my favorite Nirvana tracks. I think it goes back to a show I saw them at in the early 90s. It just has so much freaking energy! Love it!
There always seems to be some sort of breeze on Kurt and it may be a coincidental fan to cool them on stage but, for me, it adds to the mystique and just makes his performance that much more… prophetic
Yeah in reading when the breeze is hitting them in the crowd singing lithium, that's one of the most mystical moments for me there's just something about it it's like the breath of the crowd is blowing back on him
One of my favorites from their harder songs(the unplugged set pretty much takes the top spots for me). I really wish they'd written an album with Pat on it. It would have been cool to see what they came up with as a 4piece, and he really worked well with them live. I hear he was crazy as fuck too.
Watching these performances now it's clear that as good as the songs are , Dave's drumming kicked the live sound to where it needed to be, especially for big gigs
