This appeared in my recommended and I gotta say it’s amazing! You can feel such an adrenaline rush from how much rage and hatred from Steven as well the fear and desperation from Mike trying to reach for his bother and 1:56 just a wonderful switch from just rage to straight up murderous malice and deafen pleads is wonderful, I even felt like I was being strangled a bit from how intense this is, Love it!! Amazing!!
This sounds so good, every time I listen to dissension without the lyrics, I always think of this.

I love the concept of this, Stevens rage is so strong that he hears Mike but as insults, as if Mike was taunting him when really Mike was trying to stop him

Like, the opening steals the show, obviously; it's one of the best openings in an FNF song already, and the lyrics really made it better.
Steven starting out furious then having his rage slowly build and build until the peak "Goodbye" is chef's kiss.
And Mike starting out with terror, then trying to poke out him when he pretty much realizes nothing can be done is excellent, before returning back to his original terror. "Rethink this Steven" hits so hard as a line for some reason.
I’m not even that big of a fan of dissension to begin with, but these lyrics are peak.

This is an awesome video but what’s the lore behind it since it seems different from the Strangled Red story I heard?
It's not really different.
Basically it's the same story;
Mike accidently kills Steven's pet Charizard and Steven has been angry for like a year, so in the song he's getting revenge. I'm pretty sure the difference to you is Mike's 3 stages. The first stage being him trying to get Steven to calm down, second, him trying to find a solution to make everyone happy, and third, he's ready to accept his fate and he stops fighting.

A common criticism I mentally had with a lot of lyrical covers (edit: changed from 'lyrics songs' to 'lyrical covers') is that the writing of the lyrics don't hit hard as they should, I usually think of alternative lyric writing during songs that don't hit as hard as they should. But this? The writing actually hits hard. I'm most mixed with the lyrical overlap since it makes it hard to distinguish certain things happening. But I also like it since it sounds realistic. Steven refusing to hear Mike out by literally talking over him. I feel like, the only thing that would make this better was if the audio mixing sorta emphasizes how Steven isn't really hearing Mike, and is practically talking over him whilst hallucinating what he's saying.
But regardless, this is better than most of the lyric covers I've heard by sheer virtue of the writing alone. Fuck, the fact that the writing's so good it makes me immediately consider this better than many of the lyric covers I've heard.
