@@oz_jones tpp is a really great game, with an emphasis on players being able to put the pieces together to see the real story, more than any other game you do have to engage and think to get the most out of this story which is its strongest point. It May not be the approach you prefer with storytelling but if you get over the humps it's one of the best stories kojima has ever told.

I'm still impressed at the fact that Phantom Pain gave us 2 entire open worlds filled with all sorts of locations to infiltrate and take over, and it played well into the story they were telling

You feel so powerful too like you can just take out your computer thing and call a missile strike whenever you want
It was the weakest out of the original 4. The last 15 mins doesn't make up for the 8+ hours of boredom. Weakest cast (other than Boss), weakest calls, weakest story and boring boss fights other than the End. It's the FF7 of the Metal Gear franchise.

Kojima had more resources than most game developers will ever see in their careers. Experienced veteran staff. Tons of money. Years of development time. Creative control. He was on the board of the company. And still didn't get anywhere near finishing. That's like losing with the cheat codes on.

He was the director, responsible for the overall vision and at least some of the writing. Those things didn't go well. Not saying I could do better, because that's not my lane, but it is his lane, and he kind of crashed the car.
Come on Snake Eater 3D isn’t that bad, i mean yeah the framerate is kinda crap but for a 3DS MGS3 It’s amazing that the console doesn’t blow up and if you can see past that It’s a fairly decent port, i’ve played it a couple of times and while it isn’t the best version of the game by a very long shot It’s still a fun way to experience MGS3 and if you have a 3DS i reccomend that you at least give it a try even if It’s only for the crouch-walking
Don't try to play it on a New 3DS though. Trying to aim with the little nub and attack with the teeny-tiny ZR button is SO painful, and the performance isn't even any better.
Buddy, you have no idea how much time I've invested in that game. Played it for years and never got tired of it, even if the aiming could be difficult.
I wonder if people actually played the acid games or they just hate on them cuz they're different and have card based gameplay, their story is actually pretty good and the gameplay is really fun, the fact that they're not canon is even better, cuz you know you dont have to worry about them fucking up the story.

Acid will probably not get its redemption arc like rising, which kinda sucks, but it is what it is.
Yeah, Phantom Pain really is that kind of game that you buy on Steam, that you are incredibly excited about when playing it for the first time, but every session after that you lose interest more and in the end it just collects dust in your library. I mean, I love the gameplay and sheer variety of MGS5, but the story and the different approach to the narrative just doesn’t do it for me. Open world wouldn’t have been my choice for a Metal Gear game either. It’s a shame but I jusr don’t get “hooked in”.
Metal Gear Solid on GameBoy Color is a masterpiece. I was a kid when I got that for GameBoy and my young brain at the time couldn’t process how good the game was. It blew me away and remains one of my favorite Metal Gear games in the entire series.
Idk about you but if i recall it was received very well when it came and quite contrary like people believe it was also quite popular, even i remember a lot of my friends talked about it for a while not to mention there weren't a lot great action hack and slash game that year.. I also remember game stores in my city put it as their main poster as well, i think it's more like getting a bit "forgotten" instead completely ignored until it was getting popularized again with the memes (Similar case like GTA San Andreas and TES: Oblivion).
I think this is the best one of these I have seen and I've seen way too many. It's not just reusing the same 5 clips and repeating itself, the mgs2 and mgs5 bits were great and much more creative than I expected at this point.
It's not so much about change as it is making a completely unrelated game concept. Imagine if, let's say, FIFA made a title that was all about mangaging a restaurant. It could be the best managerial game ever, but it's not a FIFA title, so of course people aren't gonna like it.

I feel like I'm one of the only people that actually likes MGS4. I really didn't like the gameplay but I really enjoyed and was satisfied by the story. Most people seem to hate it or dislike it story wise, and I get it, but I'll never feel that way about it myself. I enjoyed it greatly and I'm glad I'm not alone in that :)
@@Ethiixx There's actually a pretty sizeable number of people who didn't liked 4 very much. You can see a number of videos criticizing the plot and specially the gameplay of the game. I'm not a big fan of the gameplay myself, but Metal Gear Solid was never a "gameplay focused" kinda game for me, I've always played for the story, and the story of the game is great, even if a bit convoluted. One of the few gripes I have with 4's story is the over reliance on nanomachines to explain every damn thing in the plot that doesn't have a more believable explanation. The other games had some reliance on nanomachines, but 4 was to such an extent that it became a meme, and that's when you know you fucked up. But other than that, pretty fucking awesome story, my favorite in the franchise.
One thing when I played through the Uncharted Trilogy is that people have the gall to call MGS a video game movie but Uncharted was more cinematic, scripted and on rails then MGS ever was.
Uncharted is a damn ripoff of Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider, whereas NOTHING comes close to the epicness of MGS! There’s a reason why there are only a handful of one franchise and numerous titles of the other…🤨

Don't quite agree with TPP, MGSV had some bloody solid gameplay, mixed the open world with MGS stealth or gun run gameplay very well. It was the story and the way characters acted that let it down
Mgs3 on the New 3ds is honestly the definitive mgs3 experience for me. It has A LOT of quality of life and gameplay improvements, but yes, on the old 3ds it runs so poorly that it kinda overshadows the rest
I’ve invested over 175 hours, and am barely halfway through the story. The moment I took down Sahelantropus was the moment I stopped. If the story had more of a presence, I think the game would have been infinitely more bearable.
How to know a third installment game of a franchise is really good instead of bad: - It being the first entry of the timeline - Has actually a really awesome gameplay - Great cutscenes, characterizations - Great atmosphere The same can be said to Devil May Cry 3.
The funny part is, MGS3D is the best version of MGS3 when you aren't a framerate elitist. As long as it's stable, I'm happy -- _twenty frames = good to go._

Didn't beat it but I hated the bosses. The second peace walker fight was when I lost my patience and stopped. Which is a shame cause the regular stealth missions are fun and it had some of the most fun writing in the series.
As someone who finished PW 100%, my only complaint was its lack of memorable boss fight. Liquid & Mantis, Vamp & Solidus, The End & The Boss, REX vs RAY & Liquid Ocelot, Eli & Man on Fire. Just to name a few in the numbered mainline, and yet I remember how I fought them till this day. All PW had was pretty much only A.I.s and modern conventional vehicles. It severely lacks classic yet memorable humanoid boss fight. But at least it had Rathalos, Tigrex and reimagination REX. So there's something unique going on the very least.

The Metal Gear Solid 3D demo was my introduction to the franchise and I replayed that Sokolov level over and over again.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. Beauty bosses were weird and unnecessary IMO but the final fight with Ocelot is the cherry on top

I'm not a big fan of the gameplay myself, but Metal Gear Solid was never a "gameplay focused" kinda game for me, I've always played for the story, and the story of the game is great, even if a bit convoluted. One of the few gripes I have with 4's story is the over reliance on nanomachines to explain every damn thing in the plot that doesn't have a more believable explanation. The other games had some reliance on nanomachines, but 4 was to such an extent that it became a meme, and that's when you know you fucked up. But other than that, pretty fucking awesome story, my favorite in the franchise.
VR missions is very underrated.

One thing when I played through the Uncharted Trilogy is that people have the gall to call MGS a video game movie but Uncharted was more cinematic, scripted and on rails then MGS ever was.

Finally, someone that likes Portable OPS, although it lacks due to hardware limitations, its my favorite MGS.

Don't quite agree with TPP, MGSV had some bloody solid gameplay, mixed the open world with MGS stealth or gun run gameplay very well. It was the story and the way characters acted that let it down

Mgs3 on the New 3ds is honestly the definitive mgs3 experience for me. It has A LOT of quality of life and gameplay improvements, but yes, on the old 3ds it runs so poorly that it kinda overshadows the rest

I’ve invested over 175 hours, and am barely halfway through the story. The moment I took down Sahelantropus was the moment I stopped. If the story had more of a presence, I think the game would have been infinitely more bearable.

- It being the first entry of the timeline
- Has actually a really awesome gameplay
- Great cutscenes, characterizations

@@Icebergslim_1 Honestly...once you adjust to it, it's not...*as* bad as you'd think. It's still MGS3 so obviously it's good in some capacity, but it's definitely not the optimal way to play.

@@Icebergslim_1 Oh yeah, I forgot about that! Yeah, you can do that, although I didn't experiment with it much. The game itself, once you get past the framerate issues is fun if you have a Circle Pad Pro for old launch model 3DSes or a New model 3DS that has a second stick.

Why do people shit on peace walker? Im pretty sure "ooh but we dont know what it is about, maybe peace, because it is mentioned a lot?" Or that one backtracking mission arent good excuses for me
Didn't beat it but I hated the bosses. The second peace walker fight was when I lost my patience and stopped. Which is a shame cause the regular stealth missions are fun and it had some of the most fun writing in the series.
As someone who finished PW 100%, my only complaint was its lack of memorable boss fight.
Liquid & Mantis, Vamp & Solidus, The End & The Boss, REX vs RAY & Liquid Ocelot, Eli & Man on Fire. Just to name a few in the numbered mainline, and yet I remember how I fought them till this day.
All PW had was pretty much only A.I.s and modern conventional vehicles. It severely lacks classic yet memorable humanoid boss fight.
But at least it had Rathalos, Tigrex and reimagination REX. So there's something unique going on the very least.
