I commented this on another video but i post it here as well because it relates to IHS
I am extending my spouse visa next may (2024) and I work full time for the NHS, I pay my taxes in the UK, including NI. My question is since I pay my taxes and NI in the UK, do I still need to pay the NHS fee on my visa extension? Thank you

    Hello Sir,
    (Applying from within UK)
I'm on a two year PSW visa which expires in December 2024. Currently I'm working in a secondary school as a science teacher specifically Physics. The school is willing to sponsor me on 2 or 3 year contract. Now, what I would like to know is that:
    - As a shortest of occupation job, do I have to pay IHS fee?
    - If I'm sponsored on a 2 year contract and I'm required to pay IHS fee, what would it be for 2 years and also fee for 3 years IHS in total?
    - Lastly, if and when I'm successful in my sponsorship visa with school, do my 5 years journey start towards ILR from the date when I get my sponsor visa? and also will my 2 years PSW visa or whatever time spent on PSW count towrds my 5 years?
Thank you for your time in advance, I look forward in hearing from you soon.
    Thank again.

      Hello! Thanks for your question.
As a Physics teacher, Your job code would be 2313 - Secondary education teaching professionals, this is on the list of eligible education jobs.
However, this is not on the Immigration Salary List(this is the replacement of the Shortage Occupation list), so you will be required to pay the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS), please see the list of situations when you are exempt(Who does not need to pay) at the below link: www.gov.uk/healthcare-immigration-application/who-needs-pay
IHS fees will be as under:
for 2 year Skilled Worker visa - 2070
for 3 year Skilled Worker visa - 3105
Your journey towards Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) typically starts when your sponsored visa is granted. The time spent on your PSW visa usually doesn't count towards the 5-year requirement for ILR.
I hope this helps! Good luck with your visa application.
