48 Hours in Cusco, Peru: Our First Impressions 🇵🇪

  • Our timing worked out perfectly, as we got to explore the beautiful city of Cusco on Peru’s Independence Day. The streets were lined with their national flag, and everyone was out and about celebrating the day away. Cusco has so much to offer, from local markets filled with bright, colorful produce, to Spanish baroque churches in its Plaza de Armas. We enjoyed the people, the cuisine, and the sparkling night lights, and everything about this city was purely charming. 🇵🇪
Follow along to see where we head next.

Will be there for a few nights in just 3 weeks. Can't wait. I am doing things a little different though. Upon landing in Cusco I will be getting immediate ground transportation to Ollantaytambo and spend some days there first. My idea is to adjust to the altitude incrementally.
    Thanks for the videos!

Nice job Congratulations Chad and Claire Thanks for choice my country to visit Perú has 13 Unesco heritage site including Machu Pichu and three important cities like Cuzco, Lima the capital and Arequipa. In Perú avocado means palta not aguacate, coriandrus means culantro not cilantro. We are the only country where we call kion to ginger, for the rest is jengibre

Just happened that your channel pops up on you tube, while I was watching news, so timely that it is Peru your topic for this blog, since my daughter & I are planning to travel to Central America, soon as pandemic & no more quarantine..hopefully next year 2022, my daughter planned trip to this region is about education, my daughter is a professor in one of the biggest university in my country & she is teaching the course of “ International Tourism Hotel Management “ which is a Degree course of 4 years. One of this is to visit all UNESCO world Heritage sights like “ Machu Pitchu” in Peru, “Aztec ” in Mexico, “Equatorial Sign” in Ecuador, “ Mayan temple” of Guatemala & El Salvador, “ Christ Redeemer “ in Brazil.. this are the few sights my daughter wants to visit & have to orient & discuss it in her class, but thru virtual learning or online class, since it’s still pandemic. But anyway thank you very much, this blog is very informative... hope you will feature the “ Machu Petchu” how to get there from the city of Cusco, thank you very much, be safe & more power🙏👍

Wonderful video. I just want to share what I learned after living in South America (including Cusco) for several months. Many restaurants in South America have a "menu of the day" (menú del día) that they serve every day during lunch. It's super cheap (similar to your dinner costs) and also several courses. I would always eat out for lunch b/c it was so cheap to do so and then cook dinner myself since dinner tended to be more expensive.

Your Spanish is very understandable, even with your heavy American accent, so don’t worry about that at all…even though they use a Spanish dialect down there, they all understand basic Spanish 👏🏼

Hola, from SoFlo. Those plantains appear similar to the ones we have here. We usually cut them up like you did and fry them is a bit of oil over medium heat. Heat up the oil first, otherwise the plantain will absorb the oil. Flip them often until the caramelize on both sides. We eat them with our meal. I have also baked them whole...and open them like a bake potato and dab a bit of butter. A third way is to slice them in half and boil them...10 to 15 minutes. Remove from hot water, peel back with a fork and enjoy with butter. I hope you get to try cooking them again. As soon as you peeled it I realized it was a cooking plantain and not a sweet fruity banana. Great channel and very nice vlogs. I've watched many of them today as I do some needlework! Cuídense 😊

Hey guys! amazing videos, a very informative, and a good source of information I gained from you two in the last couple of hours :) I binge-watched almost all of your Peru videos. My husband and I are digital nomads and traveling for a year now in the Americas and guess what our next destination is Peru!!! super excited, so this is how I found your valuable videos but was wondering what was your itinerary - from Lima all the way to Cusco by Peru Hop, and then you did Machu Picchu afterward or you landed in Lima and then went to Cusco by plane and then you "came back" to Lima by bus? Thank you, guys, and keep up the good work! cheers :)

FYI: We say palta not aguacate (in Peru, chile, Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia). You should try Choclo con queso (big boil corn served with fresh cheese, sold on the streets). Also maybe try Cachangas (sold in the winter its fried dough ), emoliente (sold at night and its hot).
