- I didn't know much going into The Front Room but was hoping for a pleasant surprise. It's directed by two of Robert Eggers' brothers, Max and Sam. Does quality horror filmmaking run in the family? Here is my review!

I knew it sucked the minute I watched the trailer
You have no idea how lame it is...boring as shit
I did laugh at her farts. Broke up the ridiculousness
saw it today in theaters. huge mistake. this movie wasn't a horror film. it was just incredibly weird and boring. left me with a lot of questions. brandy is terrible actress. dude who plays her husband was boring....after seeing Beetlejuice Thursday i was looking forward to seeing a good movie again...this left me totally disappointed
I like A24 but some of their movies are hit and miss. I had high hopes for this one.
Some may like it but my expectations for A24 are generally higher than this
Me too. I haven't found anything good or tolerable decent since Talk to Me was hyped up by A24.
My wife and I walked out. We escaped torture.
This movie hit close to home. My wife's father has been living with us for almost 8 years and he's killing her. She won't put him in a home because she says she'd be even sicker, worrying about him. What I can't understand is why God doesn't just take him and spare us this misery. I know she's allowing him to kill her, but where does that leave me as her husband? My hands are tied, and I just have to sit back and watch to see how this plays out. Been waiting for almost 8 years. One cannot imagine the depth of despair unless they've been there.
Damn, sorry to hear that. Wishing you all the best.
Worst movie ever. I left half way through and I can usually find at least one reason to stay in a movie
And it t was still better than the crow (2024) 😅
It was gross, but to say that the movie sucked, is a bit dramatic. I would consider it a psychological horror film because the antagonist was essentially a witch that belonged to a "Christian" cult who used spells, and her old age to bring the protagonists to their knees. She got into the mind of Brandy and drove her insane & violent.
I agree with that assessment as a horror film, I just found the execution moment to moment to differ so much from feeling horrified for Brandy, to feeling like I should be laughing, to feeling like a straightforward drama. But my experience with it certainly did suck lol
The fucking movie was a huge disappointment, literally felt like they should've had like 30-45 mins left in the movie, but it ended abruptly
@@BoxOfChocolatez you SHOULD be laughing, some scenes where hilarious! I"M A RACIST BABY MAMA DADA MAMA DADA
@@kozy15x I didn't laugh at that though, I was just uncomfortable.
The movie is trash
PThanks for your review. You always make me laugh with your brutal honesty and your review of strangers ch 1 was very hilariously entertaining. I went to see strange darling instead which was a creative well done surprising thriller. I'd recommend ritual killer and watcher (2022) as less known good thrillers which i enjoyed. This clearly seems like a darker comedy and not actual horror thriller which is disappointing.
Thanks! I'm not familiar with Ritual Killer so I'll have to add that to my watchlist.
@@BoxOfChocolatez I wasn't either and pleasantly surprised. I rented it last week. It stars Morgan Freeman and Cole Hauser (guy that plays Rip on Yellowstone).
I’m a HUGE movie enthusiast especially horror movies, aspiring business owner and actress. I’ve already watched 33 movies the year including the Front Room. I watched this movie to support Brandy, A24 and I love horror movies. This movie was ok to me but not good let alone great. It had some interesting themes and solid performances but it was kinda disappointing for me because I was looking forward to watching this and it was just mid for me but still not terrible in my opinion. This was a solid movie review. ❤❤❤❤
I gave this movie a chance and all i can say is........................ Full Regret and in the end empty wallet and 2 hours ill never ever get back!!!
Yes! The minute I thought it was finally going anywhere, it just ended. So weird.
It's so hard because personally I really enjoyed this movie. That being said I also have issues with my mother-in-law and that kind of hit me that way coming out of this movie. I would put this in the good for her genre of horror along with Pearl, the witch, Carrie... Ect.
I also enjoyed it. I thought it was creepy and got under my skin. And Katherine Hunter gave a fantastic performance. Just my opinion.
6:55 and the fact that the husband was the way he was, eventually lead me to think he was in on some weird religious thing and that maybe the visions were true. But nope. He’s just a wuss and the movie still didn’t go anywhere. And what’s with the necklace..
Yeah the necklace is the one "supernatural" thing that is kind of hard to explain rationally. I guess it's not impossible, but it's kind of a stretch.
this movie was basically dinner, shit, piss, somewhat creepy/culty stuff that went NOWHERE in the end. The old lady was just crazy, creepy, and shitty.
Just watched today and came to say don’t waste your money on this film, it’s really really bad. Not even kidding it’s a 0 out of 5 stars.
Horror sucks, Drama sucks, music sucks, plot is terrible, and straight up annoying at some parts… 😢
I love the movie 🎥🍿 it was so good ❤ the ENDING was very surprising to me guys 💕 Brandy is so beautiful guys she is aging well ❣️ she still looks so young guys 💕
Interesting movie to go forward with. Cringe as hell. I was captivated for the first two acts and then it derails and goes nowhere and makes no sense 🤦♂️😂
I can understand why people wouldn’t like this, and it’s okay to be wrong. It was CAMP! Reminded me of “…Baby Jane”. A future cult classic
It was definitely camp. Bad camp lol. Glad you enjoyed.
Camp is fine. But much of it just made no sense.
I thought it was a lot of fun. Some scenes were actually hilarious and I do not think the movie took itself very serioysly
@@BoxOfChocolatez bad camp? No such thing!
@@rumham7466 it’s about mothers clashing. A camp masterpiece
This one looked boring
It definitely was
I left half way through. Brandy did good and the old lady did good but they couldn’t save the movie
Wow glad I subscribed & you got it right. This movie was p*** - poor😆
Thank you!
I don't believe it until I watch it. You mf say that to every movie
I don't know who you think you're talking to here. The movies I saw right before this and right after this both got positive reviews from me. Where are you getting this idea?
I'm watching the Front Room today. 🎬🎥🎞️🍿🥤
do you regret it
@@rjdk24😂
Just watched this tonight and this movie was reallly really bad, it’s not horror at all it’s just watching someone take care of an old crazy lady
Lmaoo this was funny as hell. I think I didn’t mind the movie bc I was with my family and we were drinking and having a good time. However it was very disgusting and I agree it didn’t really go anywhere. There wasn’t really a message that we didn’t already know.
Lol well at least you had a good time with your family!
ok, this was most definitely NOT a horror movie, but I was entertained. While it wasn't scary there were scenes that were so out of hand that I found them hilarious. Kathryn Hunter was actually fantastic as the stepmother. She was EATING the scenery every scene and I thought it was fun to watch her. It was not very well written but well made, I liked the use of mirrors during the interior shots, it was almost all interiors. It was a tight 96 minutes which I always appreciate. I kept waiting for a horror turn but it never came. I can say it was not boring, which to me is the worst offense a movie can make. Watch it when it's streaming.
i saw the movie today. here my review. spoilers below
the grandmother is a good actor and i loved her. she was charming in beginning in few bits but after her introduction to house. her screen time with events of her pissing/taking shit. it made me uncomfortable. everyone's in my theaters who saw that wanted the movie over. we all were grossed out. we all did laugh in certain aspects but i kid you not. i wanted her to have powers of cult or demon worshiper. nope. she just crazy old woman. i only saw one trailer and figured it be fun to watch. i feel if you made the grandma shit once or twice. make her die earlier in the movie. haunt the family with her religion antics. it would been better movie to be horror. i felt when she died in the ending. i never felt so happy to have her stop talking. the constantly "help me" and whistling just over stayed it welcome. im glad i didn't buy popcorn to this movie. i would thrown it up seeing all this shit on screen. it 5/10 movie
Yeah I was expecting her to try to possess the baby or something, anything to make it more interesting.
Thanks for being so frank about it. I guess they knew to leave a lot of that out in the trailer. Haven’t seen it yet. Can’t decide.
No problem, nothing I can do but be honest. See it if you want to at least see a unique sort of blend of genres, but if you're looking for straightforward horror it's fine to wait.
Do not watch this movie it’s terrible 😞
I'll watch it tonight
You articulated this perfectly
Thank you!
And they had to make sure to mention racism. And they had to make sure a mixed couple is the lead, like almost every form of entertainment today. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but please make tv and movies at least somewhat representative of ACTUAL society. The mother in law actress was annoying, but the actress nailed it.
@@MassillonObie racism and mixed couple are actual society
It's A-24 did you think it was gonna be good
A24 has distributed a ton of good movies.
