Very cool! My wife's family originally settled that area. There's a small cemetery up in the woods from there, called the Caldwell Cemetery, where some of her ancestors are buried.

You mentioned Judge Parker "The hanging Judge" a few times. I live in Fort Smith, and have visited his grave here in the National Cemetary. A few graves to the right of him is William O. Darby, known for the Darby's Rangers of WW2. If you look out over their headstones into the graveyard and to the left the grave of Betty Lou Oliver is within sight. She got her fame by being a a 25 year old elevator operator in the Empire State Building in 1945 when a B25 Mitchel got lost in the fog and hit the building. She had burns and her rescuers put her on a stretcher in the elevator. It fell when the cable snapped, and she lived after falling a bunch of floors passing I believe in 2006. I'm pretty sure she is still in the Guinnis Book Of World Records for it. Her husband was Military, so her name is on the back of his headstone. She is kinda one of my heros if you hadn't noticed.

You're a great storyteller. I love the way you make the past live again and take us to meet these people who have gone before us. I never knew Rooster Cogburn was a real man until now but it was nice to see a flower on his grave 109 years after his death. Someone remembers and I like that. Here in Ireland some local Dublin cemeteries have got into a terrible state through prolific weed growth and lack of care. There is talk of setting up a society of friends take care of graves and I intend to get involved if it happens. As it is, whenever I visit the graves of family and friends I always tidy up a couple of graves that seem to have been forgotten either because family don't care or because there is nobody left alive to remember the deceased.

Me neither, As far as I knew He was a character that John Wayne played in a movie. ( I didn't read the book until I was almost grown) I'm going to become very unpopular Right now, From what I understand, In taking all of this Into account Is the author of the book Was using several Real life people As models in his story About judge Parkers Favorite Marshall. But the Marshall's name was Bass, which the Author did not care for. But here was another name : "Rooster" (Ruben) Cogburn.. A notorious thumper, With Legendary grit. So much so that We will Only give him One eye so that The bad guys have at least some chance! What a cool story and what Is cooler is that it's based on real people!

One of my favorite movies, and one of the first I got to see on a big screen. True Grit- the wonderful song and story, I had no idea he was a real person, and not just a legend. Either way, an awesome episode, thanks for sharing this Ron!

Love 💘 old John Wayne movies! This is a favorite! We may never know if he was this man, or a composite of several.
Must be alot of family left in the area that really like to decorate alot of those graves with alot of flowers 💐

Arkansas and Oklahoma have much the same flora and fauna....it may look pretty but I'm not going to trapes through it...too many snakes and bug and other critters that bite you. Good story, cool cemetery and nice videography...enjoyed it all, thanks Ron.

This brought back some great memories of my mom. We used to joke that we would rush to get up and change the channel if a cowboy hat came on the screen, because if my mom saw it we'd be stuck watching another cowboy movie. Mom loved the story of Rooster Cogburn as well as True Grit. Thanks for bringing back good memories.

Really great video Ron. I enjoyed this one a lot. You've gotten a professional touch with your drone, loved the video from the drone of the country side there, beautiful place, it looked like land from one of those westerns. I loved the movie True Grit, it's one of my favorites of John Wayne's. I never knew his character was actually real. I'm glad you did this video showing us the grave of where he lies. I can't wait to see the next video you have for us to see. Stay safe on your journey Ron.🙂💟

How many movies have done J. Wayne wow it’s incredible!
He’s a masterpiece of western movies, like for our (in Italy) Sergio Leone, western movies famous director, or Ennio Morricone conductor (orchestra) soundtrack for the most famous western movies. Like the song “the ecstasy of gold” or “The good, the bad and the ugly..” And many many others ..
