Just love hearing you and your coaching methods sir! 😊
I've watched nearly all of Coach Tony's TH-cam videos from beginning to end and I'm still smiling when a new one appears and after I've watched it. (Sports culture geek for 50 years.) An amazing body of work.
We are a small 1A school in Illinois. We have been using your system for the last couple of years and what a difference it has made!
What kindve stuff do you do during the offseason or would recommend your sprinters do on theyre own in the offseason ? Also im sure you’ve answered this but do your methods work for slower guys? i ran a 24.2 and 54.9 my sophomore year. I want to run 22 and 49 senior year. Any advice is much appreciated im trying to make an offseason program.
Coach ive cut some distance guys before and told them they could go to the sprinters group if they wanted HA
🤣
Distance runners are all failed sprinters.
What does a typical try out week look like for you? How do you determine cuts?
Speed and X-Factor work 4x a week. We time and measure all that matters. I keep the number of sprinters/jumpers I can COACH effectively (35). I cut upperclassmen that will never attend a quality meet. I keep young kids that have a chance of growing into good sprinters.
Those cut can join distance crew.
Conversation with mom this am.
Me- mom, dimples is crying. Have you fed her.
Mom- I can't hear you.
Hi coach want to know if i do 10x1000 and 8 km and 20 x200 , training like this is for a 800 and 400 runner ? I feel very bad with this , the training of long distance i can't feel good with this is pain and pain every day but when i training with 300 and 200 reps i feel good i don't know but Is good training a lot of endurance ? I belive that the 800 don't need a lot of km and less the 400
Yep. More ain’t better.
Do you time the 40 yard dash for 9 year olds? If so what is a good time?
Don’t compare to others. Racing does that. Compare times from previous months or years.

Haha what. I was JV my sophomore, and on our state champ relay my junior. What if I would have gotten cut and not gotten a chance to improve and learn my sophomore year?
Getting cut means going to distance. You can come back to sprinters the next year. I don’t cut young guys who have a chance to be good.
Fair enough coach. I see you got some former guys running at UW-Oshkosh. Strong crew up there at UWO.

Funny he thinks 4:20 is fast
Your point in regards to high school kids?
4:20 is fast for a high school kid 😭
