They are too stinking smart for their own good. I have a big black and silver German Shepherd. Sometimes it scares me how smart he is.
@MaryAugustine-kw7xw 3rd smartest dog breed. Had 2 GSDs - all lived to about 12-13 hrs, and two Rottweilers , one lived to 10 and other to 11..my Rottweilers were lifelong immature goofs that played hard and rough housed but all my shepherds , two female and one male were locked on .
One thing about GSDs is how they pay attention to you and learn from your actions - the male would use his body to block people from getting close to us, and both females then the male knew how to turn the water tap on/ off with their mouths to get water out of the hose- they also knew how to unlatch the gate to come out to the front yard and bring my block head Rottweilers if they though there was a problem or intruder in front of the house! We'd watch the make GSD as he " learned" to try and use the spatula to remove meat cooking on our BBQ grill .

You all this woman obviously used to feed this dog real food mixed into its dog food and then stopped doing it as you can tell she's a little chunky and that's why it's doing this because she wants her old better food back. I know this from personal experience, she could at least shred up like a single piece of deli meat or something like that it wouldn't be harmful to the dog in any way and she wouldn't have to be cutting it off cold turkey she's a garbage person

17 is amazing for a shepherd. Ours died at 14 and I'm so devastated I miss him so much. They have so much personality it's like having a little child

Its kind of sad, really. She just wants to be a real member of the family. I'd end up just adding some real food. It takes literally the same amount of time to actually do it as it does to pretend to do it. Plus they get better nutrition and feel more loved. Win/win.

His dogs had him so well trained, that they not only got him to ring a bell to announce mealtime, they got him to ghost write a book for them.! @StreetStoriesEnt glad to hear. I get called crazy whenever I make eggs because I always fry some up for my dog. Great for their coat. Also never met a dog like her but her favorite food is green peppers. Tested it out, put a chunk of steak next to some green peppers, she ate all the peppers before even smelling he steak.
