      Yeah. It wasn’t really a question for many people. I remember the traffic from people trying to preorder se 2 literally broke the steam search engine. Just searching space engineers gave an error because the servers were overloaded.

      @@littletimelord2755No it did not, SE is a good game but still a niche with relatively small audience. The steam store overloaded because winter sales started the exact moment. The search was crashing for any search input.

And even if they don't, I've gotten an incredible amount of value out of SE1, so it's worth preordering just to show support in my opinion. For those with less spending money though it is a safe choice to wait, as it's clear the game will release with less content than SE1 initially

      Strong disagree. $30 is extremely EXPENSIVE compared to all other games out there that took 10+ years to make.
      It's a cash grab. Major new cost for the exact same game with some improvements. It will 100% make the first game obsolete, so it should be a free update, or a severely reduced cost upgrade.

    I have couple of thoughts:
    1) What happens when you split a grid by deleting a single block, then undoing it? Does it return the split-off section together with the block or only returns the block?
    2) Astronaut jetpack boost is an amazing idea!
    3) What tilda does (unequips, and reequips the last equipped thing) should maybe be changed to a "pick" button? Press while looking at a block and you equip that block, press again and you unequip. This works really well in factorio. The suggested "unequip, reequip" functuionality should be moved to button "0" in my opinion.
    4) No armor edges! Finally! I couldn't play SE1 without the mod that disables them since the edges are too distracting.
    I hope the launch goes well and hope the game goes above and beyond what SE1 was!

    • @Loy_Otterton
      @Loy_Otterton 20 วันที่ผ่านมา +6

      The pick block idea is a great idea! It makes building in factorio and Minecraft way quicker and cumbersome when working with a wide range of blocks.

      Thanks for the feedback
      ad 1) This is currently not supported, which mean that if you split a grid, it can't be undo-ed. We wanted to keep the undo/redo simple and to cover the basic use cases... but I will rethink whether it shouldn't cover this case too.
      ad 2) Thanks! Plus we will make it even better in VS 1.2 - better boot curve, better sound effects.
      ad 3) Block picker will be implemented... maybe not via tilde, but it should be in game in the future VS

That way, I can introduce my friends/family to the DLC stuff and if they like it for their builds, they can buy it on their own after actually getting to see it and play around with it. Maybe it wouldn't be as much profit in the long run, but I know it would for sure help people I play with be more interested in the DLC.

      In most paradox games if the host/anyone has dlc every player on that server can use it. Not just see it but to interact with DLC mechanics and access it for the duration of the game.
      Although I don’t see how this would work, only on small servers probably because on 100+ players if it’s only needed by host to buy DLCs 99 ppl are not paying, they will never go for that. And well one rarely plays HOI/CK/Europa with more than 3ppl.

    I wish the debris from all the destruction would stay loaded in for longer, at least until the player is there, and maybe even permanently until repairs are done or all players moved far enough for it to de-spawn. Naturally, it would be mostly cosmetic as opposed to real detached grids and blocks, but it would still be an amazing detail!
    Another thing would be realistic center of mass and thruster/lifting surface calculations, wherein a ship's thrusters can assist in turning and rotating the grid if they are placed properly (i.e. on opposite ends and different sides of the ship to turn), complimenting or even mostly replacing the gyros. It could be an optional world setting toggle if some players would rather build without thinking about the center of mass or where each thruster would apply its thrust and such...
    Of course it would be AMAZING if all the solar bodies were actually moving around instead of being constantly frozen in place, i.e. sun's shadows on the station moving as the asteroid rotates around its own axis and the sun, stars+other planets and moon's positions floating across the sky if viewed from a planetary outpost, etc.
    And lastly but most improbably, orbital mechanics for ships and stations in orbit, where they actually need to be going around the planet instead of just magically hovering above the same spot at any altitude (Lagrange points excluded).

    • @josiahstanley9291
      @josiahstanley9291 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Kerbal space program physics but with space engineers build style? That game also has a time manipulation for orbital math. Turns out riding in space gets boring so the need to warp to your manuver node is an absolute necessity.

    • @bitw00f
      @bitw00f 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @josiahstanley9291 Time warp wouldn't work for a multi-player game, but contrary to KSP, propellant is almost unlimited and warp drives are a thing, so I think we'll be fine without it. I don't think they will add it though as that definitely introduces a lot of extra complexity...

    I LITERALLY cannot wait. This is my 2nd most anticipated game of 2025. Right after KCD 2.
    I've been here pretty much since the earliest version of the first SE game. Well, I watched it on youtube back then, my PC couldn't run the game, but once I could I loved every second of it.

    I wish I can say that I am half as dedicated to this game as the community is, despite having it for a long time, but I’m one of those people who gets frustrated and calls it wuits far too quickly. A part of myself that I have come to regret, and yet this game with it’s community of builders, engineers, klang worshipers, modders, programmers, pilots, fighters and storytellers have got me motivated to try amd dedicate myself to spacesims once again. Here’s to another ten years of epic content and the stories that will come from it.

    I hope there will be space exploration elements and stuff to discover on planets. Don't get me wrong: Space Engineers is great fun for the building/construction part. But it would be even more fun if the game provided some motivation to create different types of ships or designs such as science vessels that withstand different forces in space (e.g. radiation, gravitation) better than others or that can be fitted with sensors, data recording devices and so on instead of just the typical SE outfits that all ships need.

    one element of SE-1 is the variable chase cam distance when operating a mobile grid.
    some angles result in the camera being in so close that you cannot easily see what is around you.
    I have long wanted the chase camera view to maintain a set distance no matter what direction or angle you are facing or pointing.

    The thing I'm most looking forward to.
    In public servers, my go to first move is to build big drills and attach them to a small ship.
    A ship that fits comfortably in the footprint of the drills so I can burrow endlessly into stone.
    But 5 drills make an unusual shape. Plus they're heavy and relying on small grids to shift it is taxing.
    I can't wait to see what can be done with cross grid builds.

      Generally, in game dev there is a new product when the underlying engine is also new. And the Vrage3 engine is different enough they felt that was the case. It will likely be purchased mainly by SE diehards anyway so Marek could have just billed it an update. We all still would have bought it. But it’s a largely new code base.
