Hello my friend, I haven't seen/met anyone that didn't tear up to this awesome song. I have seen/heard both the video version and the live concert versions and I cry every time. I've also watched a lot of wonderful people react to this Queen's gem and it doesn't matter who they are...men and women,young,middle aged and older(seniors),all walks of life, occupations,races,cultures.... everyone cries over this. When you looked stunned when Brian comes back in singing, to the tear jerker was perfect - this song is SO powerful. Loved your reaction. BTW this song has 3 different endings. The live version has an extra line and then ends - listen to the live Wembley or Budapest videos. But the album version has a long and emotionally powerful ending that has to be heard to be believed! It’s amazing! I hope you check the other 2 versions out because your reactions are first class!
The movie Highlander is one of my favourite movies, Queen were asked to do a track for it, they wrre shown rushes from the film and decided to make an album instead, glad they did. "There can be only one".
The song is played with scenes of him spending time with his wife, with her becoming older while he stays young. Finally she dies in his arms as an old woman.
The choir is actually their voices multiplied so it sounds like a whole choir is singing. They all did their own vocal and instrumental work, they are all incredibly talented.
It's been just over 40 years since I started to listen to Queen and I still get a lump in my throat when I hear them. And seems like it was just yesterday. 😢🌹
We buried my brothers wife yesterday. 51 when cancer took her away. He chose this song for the ending of the funeral. I’ve seen the movie. I know what she meant for him. Breaks my heart. The song is just a masterpiece.

This song is so powerful in the context of the movie "Highlander".
Like the movie, this song reminds so much of my wife. She was 23 when cancer claimed her. That was 44 years ago.
I miss her every day.
