      @@cuzeke !! The only thing I could think of was maybe there’s a specific arm for a specific side of the couch and I was trying them on the wrong side before? I’m still so confused how I got it to work! If you have someone to help push the arms so the slats align that might be easiest!

    I think your kittens are helping you to approach things in a more relaxed way, and that is why the arms on the couch suddenly were easier to set up. Good job! Remember to be gentle on yourself - yes, it will be good for you to decorate your apartment, but eat the elephant one bite at a time. Focus on completing just one room. Totally. Then decide on the next one. It has taken me nearly 4 years to completely unpack and organize my studio materials and tools.....and I still have decorating to complete. What is the rush? Just enjoy the journey and the process, like a wise person once said: patience - in time, the grass becomes milk!

    Hi Chelsea, the decorating is going great. I love the arms on the sofa -- it's so much better. Take your time and don't stress decorating. Only buy stuff you love. I would skip the carpet in the bedroom though, especially with the cats. If you want carpet under foot when you wake, then just get a runner -- like 2 or 3 feet wide with the right length, then you can clean easily under the bed. I love watching your videos though, thanks for sharing 🙂

    • @thoughts3897
      @thoughts3897 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      That is a great idea on the runner. I have two cats and I was wondering how she was going to take that rug back. Trust me, cats can destroy that in a second.

    It's lovely that you are aware of the great gift of a working body❤ I have been bedridden since I turned 17. I can't even sit up in bed by myself. I hate being a burden to my also disabled mother. She is dying of Alzheimers and apart from being heartbroken, I am also exceptionally afraid of what will happen to me after she is gone. I have no one but her and no money.
    It is extremely frustrating not to be able to take care of yourself. I was always a very independent and hands on person before I became a cripple. Now I just try to make as little work as possible. At least I can still help my mother with things like bills and ordering online, setting up the Internet etc. everything I can do lying down.
    But I still feel so useless!

    Alexander Gater is a must watch! She would say to take your time…first start off with a Pinterest mood board. That will get you to understand what you actually like, and you’ll start to see patterns of your personal style. Chelsea you did good today. It says a lot about you that you were able to admit defeat at your decorating ability and heed some guidance and good advice you received from your last video. You’ve made good decisions today. It is better to decide on the basics first. The wallpaper sets the tone for your color palette (and goes nice with your window shades).
    Now your color choice for the rug should complement with your accent wall. Your wall art should be the last item you choose and build over time…don’t try and get everything at once…you’ll get overwhelmed.
    Use the color swatches from the paint store to set up your mood board…and since you’re a beginner, stick to one section of the colors. Please don’t put pressure on yourself…one thing at a time. You will do fine. Your cats are so cute! All they need is love , food and a scratching post. Take care.

    just a suggestion to get throw rugs runner, and maybe a small rug for the foot of the instead of a big rug, especially with cats. They may claw your rugs and it’s easier to replace a small ones then a big one plus most of the rug is under your bed, which is kind of a waste.

    Hi @ChelseaCallahan i know you probably dont need any more suggestions, but here are my 2 cents: you've got to get your office out of that middle room. You have to walk through that room to get anywhere in your appartement and it should be the easiest room to organize because you can never just shut the door to hide the mess. An office is a place of wook and for most people can get chaotic. I would make that mittle room your living dining area. Sofa in the corner facing the wall with tv in the corner and your small table with 2 chairs next to it. In the other room your office and storage for your washing machine and you can even make a station for hanging your laundry. And now you have natural light by your desk. I don't know if that mittle room is big enough but i would give it a try.

    Have to make a comment on the electric litter box. IMO, they are a HUGE waste of money. This is from the interwebs: "We don't recommend buying an automatic litter box because, generally, they're expensive, they're loud, their scoops can get gunky or clogged, some models take 30 minutes to 1 hour to scoop, the litter beds are tiny, and the sensors don't work for cats that weigh less than 5 pounds." You STILL have to clean them (and they are much harder to clean) - and what do you do if it breaks down? Simple box(es) with clumping litter is the easiest, most cost effective way to go. It is SO easy to simply scoop out the box(es) at least 2 x day - then fully wash them out occasionally. Just my two cents after having cats for 50+ years (yep, I'm old). ❤

    I would turn one of the rooms into an office so you can have the main space as a dining/living room area free from your laptop and/or other appliances.. that would give your dining room a completely different vibe, especially since it connects with the kitchen - which I absolutely love. Lots of love from Ireland!😊😊

Usually I keep bumping stuff to the next day or week…but the fact that I changed the litterboxes, did laundry AND my pedicure on my 2 days off felt like such a huge WIN. Also my sibling kitties are 6 yrs now and the lil guy acts like he is legit starving alllll dayyyy every time I stand up he cries for food. Honestly, I think it’s because when I’m gone at work I’m gone for so long that they have like food insecurity when I’m home so they want to eat like every two hours. And yes, they wake me up all night for food too. They’re so stinking cute I cant be made about it😻😻

    As someone who is never happy with their home design and I think buying things will just make me love it (even though 9 times out of 10 it doesn’t 🙃😂) one of my favorite things to do is to grab one of my fav special drinks and put on some music or con a friend into helping me decorate and I pick a room in my house that’s really bothering me to start moving furniture and decor around or taking things down from the walls and shelves to donate until I either have a new layout I’m happy with or I’m slightly happier with the same layout but with subtle changes. Saves me from impulse buying things and makes me work with what I have so I know what to buy if I feel like something is missing (: and a lot of times I end up happy with what I already got(: you’re doing great and I’m really proud of you (: designing is hard enough, so don’t be hard on yourself too (: it’s just an apartment, you can always change it (:

    I love your relationship with the kitties. It makes me appreciate my cats more and makes me want to spend more time cuddling them. I really appreciate what you said about our bodies allowing us to live alone or live whatever life we choose. I'm 59 and sometimes complain about certain aspects of aging but the fact is, I did all my own yard work this weekend and I moved furniture around the weekend before that and I spend my week hugging kids and chasing (literally..."Ms. Lisa chase me!!!") around the playground. It's a very good life and I should thank my body more and probably should take it for a walk. I bought a little house just over a year ago. I am still figuring out what I like on the walls and how I want things to be arranged. If you're at all like me, looking online can be overwhelming. I've had to learn that liking something that someone did in their apartment or house doesn't mean that I will like it in my own space. I think you have a good handle on it because you said that you just want something that you like to look at. I think that's the secret! And if you haven't hit up any thrift stores or maybe some small art from local artists or etsy artists (you can buy sets of digital downloads that you print yourself CHEAP!), I think that may be a good place to start. I love your apartment and all you're doing. I'd like to go back to your age with as much wisdom as you have.

    Little by little things will come together like the pieces of a puzzle. It's definitely inspiring seeing you put your place together. For some people it may take over a year or so to even feel complete with their decorations at their apartment/home. Ive been living in my place in Jackson Heights, Queens for about 7-8 years. I just started to redecorate my place a little this year and actually bought pieces of furniture and items I wanted and now my living room looks nicer. It was bittersweet saying goodbye to the old stuff but in the end, it was stuff I didnt truly love; they were just temporary or a placeholder lol. Took a break recently because I just got tested positive for COVID a few days ago but eventually will focus on my bathroom and maybe my room. There is no timeframe or deadline. Take your time & have patience. Be proud of what you've accomplished so far. Proud of you Chelsea. Hi Chelsea! Love watching Gordo and Del running around and being two cute fluffballs :D
    I feel the struggle with interior design, and I have found three youtubers that I personally feel are able to inspire me to find my own style and play with my creativity!
    Caroline Winkler, Page Wassel and Xo McCenna. They all have different styles but are super unique to them, they have great tips for decor and for color combinations too, in contrast to Alexandra Gater, who I feel is only using shades of pink, boho style and quite trendy interior (of course not bad, but I think it doesn´t help really with finding a style you´re satisfied with)
    Hope you can soon find the pieces that make you feel warm and happy

    Love the direction you're taking. IMO, lamp on the other side of the couch in the darker corner, and future robo litter in the corner by the window unit. Kitties will love the arm rests. If they like them a little too much (like enough to damage them), some double sided tape and gentle redirection to the scratching post works. Mercury is going retrograde, so make decorating a chill 1 month process and save packaging and receipts.

    I’m 45 and while I don’t live alone (I have a 15 year old daughter), I feel a kinship to you. I also have an apartment, am not that great at decorating, and just want my space to feel comfy so thanks for showing that we don’t all have to have fabulously chic looking homes

    Happy Saturday Chelsea. I was at work and thought to myself wait did I miss her Friday video 😂! So happy I was off today to watch. As a 52 woman that does alot of walking because I don't have a car, I am very grateful to still be able to do that. I would tell younger people please take care of your body now because if you don't it will catch up with you.

      Yes yes, wholeheartedly agree with you! I will be 46 and movement I learned is so damn important. I am at a desk 10-12 hours a day, and I now feel every joint and muscle just walking to my car some days 😭 trying to get into a better walking routine.

    That's a very astute observation about health. I'm old and I don't have the energy level and stamina to do a bunch of errands at once, I'm glad you appreciate it. I don't think many younger people even think about it. Those kitties are soooo adorable. I love the way they're right into everything. Interior design is hard! Rugs especially. If you feel like a choice is forcing you to have to adapt all the other things to it it's probably not the right choice. So glad you were able to get a pick up for it!

      So much, this. I was really moved by Chelsea's taking the time to talk about her acknowledgement and appreciation for her physical ability to do everyday things. As someone who was blindsided by losing my own capabilities way earlier than I'd ever imagined- I so, so, soooo loved that she took the time to voice this! What an amazing woman she is. Just when I thought I couldn't like her any more... 🥹🥰

    Definitely better with arm rests. I can relate to how difficult it is to place a rug underneath a bed as a single person. Right now the rug I have under my bed is crooked and I just do not want to mess with it. Love your two cats. Cats are so lovable --despite how annoying they can be.

    I have a brain injury and can do so little! People often dismiss how disabled I am because my arms and legs work ok. But I can't work, travel, go to a restaurant and I struggle with daily symptoms. Just visiting a busy shop makes me crash for a day. Thanks for acknowledging your health privileges. imo, we don't need to be greatful for basic wellbeing every day, but it's nice to hear a (mostly) healthy person say this once in a while ❤❤❤

    love the vlog, keep em coming! suggestion: I think adding a backboard frame to the bed would look really nice (a pop of color or neutral color maybe) and it will also fill the space on the wall without you having to worry about what would go on that wall. it will also tie in the bed, and make the pillows stand up nicely, etc. i know that regardless of how little or how much room I have in my room, if my bed is perfectly done well, everything else looks good. :)

Be gentle with yourself and watch some home design videos :D until you find your way. Also, your cats are adorable!

    It's crazy all the things we take for granted. Past 10 days I have been very aware of the priviledge of being healthy and mobile, as my best friend had to have 2 emergency brain surgeries and after she fell into a coma for 9 days. I might seem like I only comment when it's about the cats but I love helping out even if it's just tips. I'd say get your growing kittens into free eating through out the day just up until they're 1YO. So essentially, you'll do soft food in the morning, then let them free eat about 1/2 a cup of hard kitten food through out the day, until night time, where you'll give them soft food once more before bed - 3 meals a day. Kitten food is so high on protein and kittens grow so fast and burn so much energy during the day, free eating during the day is the best option for their growing bodies

    • @ChelseaCallahan
      @ChelseaCallahan  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      thank you!! definitely been working with my vet on this... gordo is so far intolerant/allergic to every hard kitten food so free feeding isn't an option at the moment but we'll get there hopefully 😭

    OMG the kittens are growing so fast! When I saw the first shot of Gordo in this video, I was like 😦 because he looks so much bigger than I’m the last video! 🥹 Delilah grew a lot too 🙂 They are just too cute. Delilah in her little makeshift hammock 😍🥰 I do love the sofa with the arms 👍🏼 Alexandra Gater is great!! I do look forward to the Saturdays when she posts a new video. Nick Lewis is also very good. Different than Alexandra but he gives very good advice. Straight forward, to the point, and hilarious. Caroline Winkler, also very good 👍🏼 Your apartment is coming along very nicely. As long as you love how it looks and feels, that’s all that matters
