I wouldn't say Nanami is the most relatable character, I'd say he is the most idealized version of a hard working "good man" in the JJK world that many would want to be. Kusakabe is probably the most relatable given that his actions and reactions are similar to what the vast majority would *actually do* in these situations. Nanami is one of the only characters that sees the sorcerer's battle with curses from different perspectives whether it be civilians or the sorcerers themselves. He is one of the only characters to outright get enraged at the gull of those who would harm those who are trying to benefit humanity. He is one of the only characters to acknowledge Gojo's selfishness and how his "do what I want" attitude also sometimes conflicts with their larger goals (though he is at times too hard on Gojo). He is one of the very few characters to acknowledge an existential crisis involving the value of work - and that is probably where he is most relatable to people. I completely agree that he is a great character, and his death significant and poignant.
