Like he and Asa fuck up SOOOO much because they aren't fucking trained Assassins from birth, they're kids who don't know what love and deep emotional connections are. My take on the CSM part two is that what the part is lacking is a strong dynamic between characters. What I mean is the dynamic that exist in part 2 is completely different from part 1 where the trio (denji, power, aki) always makes everything engaging alongside with the other public safety members. While in part 2 you still have this very fun dynamic between characters but they feel isolated from each other since the viewpoint keeps changing, it doesn't help that my favorite part of part two which is the back and fort between Denji and Asa got cut short due to Nayuta.
This video dropped the day i decide to reread csm, absolutely peak 🙏 would love to see some more coverage on it from this channel because Id just read jjk the first time a week ago and this channels had some pretty good coverage on that Praying denji gets out of his current predicament oh my lord reading that chapter was wild, "how will you do save her without your legs?" Then scrolling to the next page bro, one of the highlights of part of 2

I don't think Denji is going to die as long as Nayuta is around. There's also the promise between Denji and Power so that would probably be resolved first before anything bad could happen to him.
Asa is more likely to die, considering that every women denji's been with died asa and yoru is really likely to die after the advancement in the manga. Plus her having only one hand is also kinda a dead flag along with yoru's aspiration of fighting pochita

I'm a bit mixed on the hate that Denji/CSM is getting for arc 2, and while I personally agree that it's not the worse and that Fujimoto can still make a great comeback (IMO fujimoto is a great writer, so I have faith in him, unlike gege), I can still see how/why people don't like arc 2 as much It almost feels that denji has been flanderized as a character, because while yes, he's always been a horny guy, it's never gotten to the point of impeding him so much. It previously motivated his actions, but has only been a motivation. Now, it feels like being horny is one of his few character traits, making him come off as pretty pathetic. I definitely see how he could've gotten to this point and I think it's very realistic that due to his PTSD, he regressed into his bad habits. I just think part of the problem is, with less of a focus on Denji in arc 2, we never really see him get to that point. Immediately after public safety, he just takes care of Nayuta, and in the final drawing for arc 1, he seems to more or less be doing fine. I think it can be argued that Power/Aki also kept his horndog attitude in check, but I think any close presence could do this. In this case, it's Nayuta existing as another little sibling. I wish there was a smoother transition to current Denji and his current attitude. I still think it's well written, and I think a strong reason as to why people dislike it is just because it's so tragic, it's basically like watching a family member fall into alcoholism or something lmao. I also think people are getting put off by the change in artstyle, as it's been a bit more messy (thicker lines, less defined characters/action scenes). It's understandable that Denji would look rough but the other characters also look pretty messy in the new style. Overall I still trust in Fujimoto as a writer, and even if the series ends terribly for Denji, I think Fujimoto has the writing capacity to do it well. As a writer, I fully trust in Fujimoto and would stick around to see where he takes CSM, but as a reader, I really hope this doesn't become another Fire Punch.
Personally, I'm not enjoying CSM part 2 very much. It's alright, but it's a major step down from part 1 imo. Part of this is personal taste. I really like characters who are smart, competent, decisive, and have strong principles (fucking love Yuji), and Denji is just... the opposite, lol. I really wanted him to get better post-Makima, but it feels like he's barely developed at all. I get it, he's a confused horny child with ptsd, but I personally am not a fan of it. Part 2 also suffers a lot from not having a strong villain or overarching narrative thread. We basically just got introduced to the idea of the Death Devil and the prophecy a few chapters ago, and the chainsawman church really didn't become all that important until recently as well. So much of the first half of part 2 feels like largely useless faffing about. It seems like it's picking up now, and Asa has been a compelling enough character to get me here, but I don't have super high hopes for it.
