Now you might be thinking it's so cool...well, not for all. You see, auto debit, will work in all situations, EVEN IF YOU'RE LOW ON BALANCE. Now that would lead to a similar condition, which is known as "BOUNCED CHEQUE" in India. If you don't know what's a BOUNCED CHEQUE is, it means, if I give you a cheque of 300Rs. But my bank only has 100Rs. Then when you'll process the cheque, the bank will tell you it's bounced.. Now in India, both the parties ( the one giving cheque and one recieving will have to pay a fine of 500)if it bounces.. But here in japan, if you give someone a cheque and it bounces. Then only the one who didn't had money have to pay, instead of both parties. You will have to pay 3 times the cheque amount. So if you pay someone, like pawan san, 10000JPY and if bounces, then now you'll have to pay fine of 30000JPY. Now auto debit system is just a cheque. Imagine as a robot, cashing out your cheque. So if your bank account doesn't have money for bills, and auto debit happens.. You know what will happen now. You will HAVE TO PAY 3x of light,gas,water, insurance and whatever other things you auto debited but didn't had any money for. So people here, running low on money, choose to quit out of this auto debit system to be safe. Since the auto debit will automatically debit on 1st of every month, while if you pay in person, you can pay later as well... Idk why pawan sir saying "reasons". Running low on finances is a common thing. Happened to me during covid as well since I was a part of lay offs. Had to survive on cheap foods like Cup Ramen, Bento etc
