“Huge swing” means the nervoscope is going off. this is more meant for the people in the replies, but the swings mean absolutely nothing. the nervoscope/neurocalometer is a thermometer, that's it. it is said to locate vertebral subluxations (i.e., misaligned vertebrae which disrupt nerves, acc. to chiro literature) by detecting inflamed areas along the spine, which chiropractors will use as a guide for their adjustments. every aspect of it has very shaky scientific foundations; first off, "subluxations" are normal, and everyone's spine has them. if your spine has a deformity which is resulting in decreased nerve function, such as a herniated disc, you will require highly precise imaging and possible surgical intervention for the problem to be solved. manual adjustments by a chiropractor are incredibly dangerous in cases like this (and can even result in these problems). additionally, inflammation is by no means any indicator for spinal alignment. inflamed areas consume energy and produce higher levels of metabolic waste, so the immune system has limits in place to avoid overactivity in areas which dont require it, unless you have a more serious underlying health concern (which requires someone far more knowledgeable than a chiro).

It's a Nervoscope. The instrument shows where pressure is present and whether it has been completely or partially eliminated as a result of a chiropractic adjustment of the causative vertebra. When a vertebra is subluxated, it causes pressure on the surrounding tissues of a nerve or a bundle of nerves and this causes resistance to flow of nerve energy. This resistance in turn causes heat at that point, as heat is produced when resistance is added in a circuit carrying electricity. Neurocalometer is so sensitive and so constructed with thermocouple detectors and galvanometer that it registers heat and records it as so many points, or units, on the dial. It makes comparative heat readings of the spinal area. But it's kind of controversial. Some people say it does work and others say it's just a waste of money.
