Exactly she would have broken her neck if she didn't fall of and the horse might have to have been put down because of the injuries he would suffered if he fell back
***** Haha. You're an idiot. Just because she fell doesn't make her a bad rider. You're not perfect, or special. And im pretty sure you've fallen off too more than once or twice.
She was being sarcastic when she said emergency dismount. Of course she fell of it's pretty much impossible to stay on if your saddle slips because you can't get it back up properly. She's not a bad rider so shut up I'd like to see you try to stay on that!
haha i love your instructors comment at the end. great ridding btw. i have a horse that's 17 hands and every time i go to canter he starts crow hopping. haven't fallen off of him yet but very close! gorgeous horse too :P
im not sure what breed he is, he looks like a warmblood though, and he wasnt exactly being naughty, he was just sick of the rider slamming on his back, not releasing his mouth, and the becoming a bit off balanced throughout every jump
We had a 19.2 hand black gelding back in the mid-1970s. He broke a trainer's arm who was trying to get him to quit rushing to jump two jumps in a single bound. Fun to ride as a teen tho. We eventually gave him to Lambs Farm in Libertyville, IL. Sure don't miss cleaning his stall!
lol at first i was like "oh how did she not stay....oh...." lol did not expect him to do that rear/hop thing after the little cow hops, nicely handled!
you did great. you dont know the horse that well, and he left long to a miniature jump there. you tried to release but apparently he wanted a little more :) so he did that rear. you handled it beautifully! amazing!
Ignore the haters! You rode AMAZINGLY and then your horse thought "hey LETS BUCK!" You are a VERY VERY good rider! I ride a big horse too and i think you did very very well! Skinny, light and tiny riders have issues with them BIG horses because its sooooo much movement, you did amazing to me! You fell gracefully :]
Out of all the videos I have seen about falling off. I must say yours IS the best one. Most videos are just small bucks and the person falls, but yours was great! hehe : ]
Beautiful ride altogether!! My friend has a big 17.2 horse she has been.ridding and I'm ridding a Percheron Draft.. Bing horses not fun falling off of..
commentary was irritating but you rode brilliantly very neat and a calm seat and soft hands, well done!! xxx you two look great together I am sure go far with him!
haha your trainer is awesome. I fell off on Saturday and my trainer was just like "hahahahah nice going! back up in the saddle do it again, don't fall off this time! hahaa"
Hi everyone. I am the rider in this video which was 8 years ago (that's pretty crazy!). Anyways, for those of you who made comments that I actually fell - I am fully aware of this fact. It was a joke lol. Funny I can watch this now and see every mistake I made. Which I ride a lot better now haha. I've shown up to 4' in the jumpers now, but I am currently retraining my seventh OTTB, which I just competed with at the Retired Racehorse Project. The horse in this video is Howie - this was my first and only time riding him. He was sold as a High JR/AO jumper the next week. He was probably one of the weirdest yet coolest horses I have ever ridden. Unfortunately, he had a pasture accident a few months after being sold and broke his shoulder... Horses.
@122RIVER i miss my riding instructors potty language. she was a friend of the family so i did not mind when she was blunt about m riding. As an equestrian team coach as well she was soo not afraid to tell me at the end of a barrel run, "That pattern was shit." hahaha but it was all in good humor. riding instructors are the most patient people on earth and i miss riding with her sooo much. you are quite lucky.
You do need to know when to get off, that's for sure. I've got a crazy 17 hand OTTB that I've had to bail off of a couple of times. It's better to bail than to fall and get yourself hurt! Nice riding up to that point, though, and lovely horse.
Our trainer tell us to move our horses while waiting, because if not our horses will get cold, and then its not very comfortable for them to jump :) she didnt go in her way so it is alright :)
Now i had to do a tactical dismount today as the horse i was on stumbled while cantering and fell down on its knees. Unfortunately the horse immediately got back up as i pushed pff to dismount. According to observers i was launch several metres into the air... it was fun
Knowing how to egress off a horse that is becoming ill manered is very important. Not sure if most instructors actually teach their students this or expect them to wing it when things go wrong. Personally, having plan in your head before you ride may actually save your life. Imagine, you are turning your mount to take on another jump, the horse refuses, becomes agitated and begins to run along side the barrier. What do you do? New students with little to no experience might panic and try and jump off their mount and right into that barrier. Point is, if you need to get off, have a plan. If not, learn to control yourself, your horse.🎩
+Scarlet Peoni yea safe emergency dismount should always be taught before anything else. First place I had riding lessons at had us making emergency dismounts at any time during the first few lessons at walk and trot and the best part was that when I had to do it because someone had fallen off I was prepared. Also instructors should also teach students how to deal with a bucking horse because I found that when it happened to me my reaction was to turn and basically do circles until the horse stopped.
Zoe Davids Thats really great that they taught you that! Are you in the UK? No where I have ever been (and I've been to quite a few places) has taught emergency dismount. I think it would help a lot of people if they knew emergency dismount and to eliminate some nerves, how to deal with bucking/rearing/bolting etc rather than left to survival instincts as and when it happens. Thats good that your reaction was to do that.
+Zoe Davids i used to go horse riding every week for a few months and the school i went to never tough me anything like this like what to do ect... i had to learn it myself by watching videos on here. Nothing ever bad happen but still. Also i still go there but just not as often as i used to
i love the cracken up your trainer did! thats what mine does to! i was braggen to ger how good i have gotten bareback and then i fell off so she was cracken up!
XD my trainer teaches us 'emergency dismount' where shell have us in a lesson and at a random point shell scream it and well have to jump off as fast as we can. ( take both feet out of stirrups, reins in one hand, swing leg over and push away from the horse) and we've gotten to the point where shell make us do it at a canter, or even when we are just standing.. lol just to see if were paying attention. xD
LaurenRebeckah Yup! The largest horse I have ever ridden was a 17.2 Hanoverian, and I just could not deal with his trot, much less his canter or jumping. It was like riding a freight train. haha my instructor only put me on him once and that was that. Never again!
good riding its scarey falling from a big horse I have an 18.2 shire x Clydesdale who like s big vertical buck nown and again and the odd rear and bolt haha I have been dragged along the road all the way home but I dnt remember it
@sportschick5670 Hehe, the emergency dismount isn't a trick/move, it's a safety measure! It means leaping off in a safe way so out of the way of the horse, into a safe position etc. if staying on would be dangerous for any reason. =) So it can, and should, if necessary, be used in any discipline.
Good job I rode a tiny pony a few days shoe he was in a middle of a lesson in between a ride and we were all halted while someone was taking their jumper of so I decided to shorten my bridle a little because he was cantering and bucking a lot before and as I let go of left hand to shorten it he bolted left and round the arena while both feet were out of the saddle and it had one hand clinging on lol I managed for a bit but he ran towards the wall I a was being squished do I thought ima have to fall of on purpose now and just then I steadied my self only for him to lean to the left and I go flying lol it happens you just enjoy the brief momant you think you were flying XD
God I bet his paces feel like a dream to ride. I know when I ride my 11hh and 14.1hh in the same day my 14.1 feels like im sitting in an armchair or something! :')
Lol that's so true! I'm 5'2" and 105 pounds and I have a 14.2hh Arabian who's the perfect size for me, but I also share a 16.2hh+ half-Arab with my dad... Everything the big guy does is SO much scarier than if my little horse did the same thing!
"Oh! Oh Shit! *starts laughing*" Literally every rider I know have that response to someone falling off😂 (Unless they get injured of course)
Lol! The classic is the horse ok?😂😂
i fell off and did that myself, though i had broken my finger😂😂😂
Dexie do not swear
My friend fell off and I was videoing and the first thing I said was "OH OH I GOT THAT ON VIDEO" 😂😂😂😂
My friend fell off and I was videoing and the first thing I said was "OH OH I GOT THAT ON VIDEO" 😂😂😂😂
It's a good thing she fell off. That horse looked like it might fall back on her if she continued to stay on!
Exactly she would have broken her neck if she didn't fall of and the horse might have to have been put down because of the injuries he would suffered if he fell back
"Oh… Oh shit!" hahahah good riding!
I rode a 17 hand TB and I felt like I was sitting on a mountain! Beautiful horse!
That was a fall not a dismount lmao but at the end "Oh.. Oh shit" made me laugh
same here XD
***** Haha. You're an idiot. Just because she fell doesn't make her a bad rider. You're not perfect, or special. And im pretty sure you've fallen off too more than once or twice.
***** lmao bad rider??? Im so with ***** you aint perfect. This does NOT imply shes a bad rider. shes pretty good actually. so. lmaoXD
I agree with Jadessa Brown just because she fell off doesn't mean she is a bad rider. Anyone can fall off. It doesnt mean they're a bad rider!
She was being sarcastic when she said emergency dismount. Of course she fell of it's pretty much impossible to stay on if your saddle slips because you can't get it back up properly. She's not a bad rider so shut up I'd like to see you try to stay on that!

She said Oh shit so calmy
What breed is he? He looks so graceful...even whilst being naughty.
I'm thinking warmblood, throughbred
Scarlet Peoni he wasn't being naughty, he was reacting to the rider
The saddle slid off
im not sure what breed he is, he looks like a warmblood though, and he wasnt exactly being naughty, he was just sick of the rider slamming on his back, not releasing his mouth, and the becoming a bit off balanced throughout every jump
You are an amazing rider :) I would love to ride there. Everything is so beautifully set up too!!!
you took that big boy and looked great! At age 9, I was about 4'8 and was jumping a 16.5 hh OTTB... the weirdest combinations work out the best!
I kept waiting for a emergency dismount??? That was a good fall though!
wow, that horse has a BIG upward jump! I would have a hard time staying on him! Great job! love the horse too!
THAT WAS BRILLIANT!!!!! How you can even think that fast and put two and two together during the rear!!!! AHH THAT WAS JUST SO COOL.
wow! that's a heck off a horse and nice riding! especially for getting use to him! omg that was such a rear!
Lmao! "Oh!" "Oh shit!" Says every trainer ever😂😂😂
wow that was epic.
We had a 19.2 hand black gelding back in the mid-1970s. He broke a trainer's arm who was trying to get him to quit rushing to jump two jumps in a single bound. Fun to ride as a teen tho. We eventually gave him to Lambs Farm in Libertyville, IL. Sure don't miss cleaning his stall!
idk how late i am but that canter was the prettiest thing ive ever seen omg
Very good jumping! Minus the end but no one could really do anything about that :/
"Oh.....Oh Shit!- LOL"
"Oh. . .oh shit!"
He has a big jump! You did a really awesome job on him though!
this is one of the funniest horse videos. he has a huge jump !!! you ride him well, you have guts to put up with his high energy.
lol at first i was like "oh how did she not stay....oh...." lol did not expect him to do that rear/hop thing after the little cow hops, nicely handled!
It's called falling of!!
If you look, it's an emergency dismount!
I agree with the original comment
Jeannie Suddard thank you somebody sensible
It's a joke! Of course she fell of. There is no way to stay on if your saddle slips!
Frankie Marsom her saddle didn't slip she did!
Stunt pony antics aside you guys look great together lol
Very nice "dismount". :) That's a lot of horse for a petite rider and you handled it well.
LOL the commentary is fantastic. And the horse is GORGEOUS!
you did great. you dont know the horse that well, and he left long to a miniature jump there. you tried to release but apparently he wanted a little more :) so he did that rear. you handled it beautifully! amazing!

You looked great! Even that emergancy dismount was pretty sweet ;) I love your trainer at the end "oh shit!"
You sat that really well until the end! Lol😛😝
It looked so serious, but then I was watching without sound so it might have been different. Good job keeping him jumping without freaking out. :P
haha your trainer is awesome. I fell off on Saturday and my trainer was just like "hahahahah nice going! back up in the saddle do it again, don't fall off this time! hahaa"

I think it’s so impressive how even though you’ve made mistakes, you recognize them and learn from them! you are very inspiring :)
Well done for staying on as well as you did!!
@122RIVER i miss my riding instructors potty language. she was a friend of the family so i did not mind when she was blunt about m riding. he does look like a strong jumper, but awesome dismount lol glad you were ok :)
That was actually really good. You did a good job staying in the saddle but that rear would have got me off too. Lol good riding!
you two look amazing together! even the fall had style ;) haha
You do need to know when to get off, that's for sure. I've got a crazy 17 hand OTTB that I've had to bail off of a couple of times. It's better to bail than to fall and get yourself hurt! Nice riding up to that point, though, and lovely horse.
Kudos for the great course! And double kudos for the great dismount!
The instructors reaction tho 😂😂
Good job! Very graceful fall. Haha I have had a good share of my falls.
your a very good rider!!! he doesn't look easy to ride so very well done! xx
not the emergency, over the head, dismount i was expecting
i cant help but notice the girl on the chestnut horse, what is she doing? stand off to the side and stand still.
Erin Farley her horse didn't want to stand still ,my horse does that
minijessie& queen_of_jaffas obviously, many horses I have do that but your can't let them get away with it.
You can't keep them still , yeah I tell mine off but maybe she didn't want to cause a scene while the other one was jumping.
minijessie& queen_of_jaffas true
Our trainer tell us to move our horses while waiting, because if not our horses will get cold, and then its not very comfortable for them to jump :) she didnt go in her way so it is alright :)
GEORJUZ horse, great riding! that was real style sliding off the bumb there lol
@casague555 There is no height "limit" on any breed. Standardbreds can grow taller than that, it just depends on the genes.
hahaha I love the "Oh, shit!" from the trainer at the end haha. Nicely handled :)
that wasn't even a emergency dismount...
it's a joke
It’s called sarcasm
i love how she was like OH SHIT! hahaha u took the fall really really good he is very pretty and u jump better than alot of ppl ive seen!
Now i had to do a tactical dismount today as the horse i was on stumbled while cantering and fell down on its knees. Unfortunately the horse immediately got back up as i pushed pff to dismount. According to observers i was launch several metres into the air... it was fun
I love your instructors remark at teh end haha
Nice! It takes a great rider to d that at the right time and to not get nervous. Once again NICE! :)
Classic line when an equestrian falls: Oh shit... even done it myself when I fell😅😅
it was actually a very graceful dismount considering the situation! ;)
Knowing how to egress off a horse that is becoming ill manered is very important. Not sure if most instructors actually teach their students this or expect them to wing it when things go wrong. Woo! Props! You rode that like a champ! Hehe :) He has a huge jump! Glad you didnt get hurt :) xxx
Not sure how big a jump he might have in him as he should be able to jump these at a walk..IMHO.
beautiful horse what stables is this at? and luv the oh shit part great jumping and luv the way u fell off where u okay?
wow nice job with him. He looks difficult to jump, and quite heavy on the landing
omfg thats a long way to the ground he was doing so well then decided he was going to do it alone lol hope u were allright :) i love your horse
Lol I love your trainer at the end :) Great riding though!!
very nice riding! i wounder what caused the rear tho...
i love the cracken up your trainer did! thats what mine does to! i was braggen to ger how good i have gotten bareback and then i fell off so she was cracken up!

I have a 17.2 and he's built like bricks, jumps so huge and his rears and bucks feel like your on a roller coaster, I know the feeling haha

+LaurenRebeckah I have a 19.1, he doesn't jump, he leaps! When he rears and bucks he sends you flying
***** 17.4 is the same thing as 18 hh. And yes, he's a large horse haha
good riding its scarey falling from a big horse I have an 18.2 shire x Clydesdale who like s big vertical buck nown and again and the odd rear and bolt haha I have been dragged along the road all the way home but I dnt remember it

you´re riding very well!
your horse is funny. i like it!

god love 17.3 horses, they know the perfect ways to get you off :)
Was the girth loose or did I imagine it? VERY pretty horse, and fantastic jumping :)
Awhh ! I Hope Your Okay. That Horse Is Beautiful :)
May I Use This Video In A Horse Video Im Hoping To Make :)
Thank you.
*Gracefully slides off horses butt* reduced the height of the fall haha! Great rider :)
You ride really great and nice but why is he so not smoothy on the back?
@sportschick5670 Hehe, the emergency dismount isn't a trick/move, it's a safety measure! It means leaping off in a safe way so out of the way of the horse, into a safe position etc. if staying on would be dangerous for any reason. =) So it can, and should, if necessary, be used in any discipline.
Thoughts horses are so tall but I am glad she got off that horse as fast as she could
you looked awesome on him (even when he was freaking) :D I ride a big boy (19hh) too sometimes :p
Good job I rode a tiny pony a few days shoe he was in a middle of a lesson in between a ride and we were all halted while someone was taking their jumper of so I decided to shorten my bridle a little because he was cantering and bucking a lot before and as I let go of left hand to shorten it he bolted left and round the arena while both feet were out of the saddle and it had one hand clinging on lol I managed for a bit but he ran towards the wall I a was being squished do I thought ima have to fall of on purpose now and just then I steadied my self only for him to lean to the left and I go flying lol it happens you just enjoy the brief momant you think you were flying XD
wow! he jumps big! i expect his size makes his rear feel even bigger lol
This really helped me I was just in a riding accident
That is one big horse but also one nice horse!
The saddle was so close to falling off! Please make the gurth tighter 😫
Wow thats a gorgeous horse!! what breed? your a great rider where do you ride? ahah srry its like 20 question =]
The ultimate, "Get off my back!"
God I bet his paces feel like a dream to ride. I know when I ride my 11hh and 14.1hh in the same day my 14.1 feels like im sitting in an armchair or something! :')
@LegendMusic757 ** 28th October 2009 ** Perhaps look at her newer videos :) xx
Wow that looks amazing :D You rode really well 'till the end :DD THaha :) Can I use this for a video? I'll give you full credit :)
Lol that's so true! I'm 5'2" and 105 pounds and I have a 14.2hh Arabian who's the perfect size for me, but I also share a 16.2hh+ half-Arab with my dad... Everything the big guy does is SO much scarier than if my little horse did the same thing!
Oh but it's such a beautiful horse!
Good idea to get off when you did... my horse is 18hh and he's 4 so when he spooks it's not really fun... but glad you're okay! ;)
ha ha i guess he got too excited! he has a lovely jump though x
Up until the end it was perfect riding! It looked good and what a huge horse! You had a long way to fall, hope you weren't seriously hurt :)
I COULDNT STOP LAUGHING WHEN SHE SAID O SHI* help
The instructor at the end was a hilarious
Good job! But what do I do if my horse is 17.2 and not 17.3 :|
