How to do an emergency dismount off a 17.3 horse :]
มุมมอง 379K15 ปีที่แล้ว
Haha! Best lesson of my life. Howie's new and he does the Highs and I was taking a lesson on him today. Which is why I was kinda not releasing because he jumps really hard and I was still getting used to him. Anyways, at the end of the video he started crow hopping and my saddle slid to the side and then continued to slide and was almost completely under him when he reared and spun so I decided...
I have nothing against horses or riders, but I don't believe in putting people in dangerous situations, if that horse had fell backwards, she would have been killed or something worse. Anything that moves is dangerous, anything that is large and moves is very dangerous. People will say "well they have ridden the horse hundreds of times without any problems", well it only takes one time, ask Superman about it.
Just fyi to the barn? Those open arena doors are a gross negligence lawsuit waiting to happen.
That's not an emergency dismount though. That's just you falling off.
Another bored horse doing endless rounds of jumping, take it to the beach
That wasn’t a emergancy dismount you fell off a emergancy dismount is when you jump off and stand away from the horse
Ah yes. Memories of when i fell off an 18 hh stallion and fractured a rib. My dear, DEAR trainer started cackling at me until she realized how badly i was injured 💀 Just a disclaimer, she wasnt trying to be cruel or anything on purpose. She immediately got me help when she found out it hurt me to breathe.
The ultimate, "Get off my back!"
Even the nicest sounding instructors may let out a naughty word or 2! :D
17.3 horse? Wow that’s supposed to be really talk I think you mean 15.3 or 16.3
That thing is not 17.3.. Is it?
We had a 19.2 hand black gelding back in the mid-1970s. He broke a trainer's arm who was trying to get him to quit rushing to jump two jumps in a single bound. Fun to ride as a teen tho. We eventually gave him to Lambs Farm in Libertyville, IL. Sure don't miss cleaning his stall!
saddle once, tighten twice, this should NEVER happen.
Yeah, Oh Shit was my trainer’s name for me for a long time! I’ve come off more than my fair share of times. I’m only 5’ tall and I rode a 17H TB. THAT was a long way down! 😂
The saddle started coming off, whoever put on the saddle tightens the girth wrong
Not really an emergency dismount that’s a fall, glad no one was hurt
What an annoying voice
You’re nice:)
This really helped me I was just in a riding accident
2021___ anyone
haha good job though!
1:15 I know you’re impatient
Horses don’t come equipped with middle fingers they come with bouncing
That girl on the chestnut was annoying the heck out of me. The horse kept on backing up and getting in the way of the girl jumping and she didn’t even care
Put a breastplate on the horse, secure the girth strap better this will help keep your saddle more secure. When the horse goes up in the air like he did gather the reins in your hands and grab his mane then kick him in the guts to snap him out of his buzz. He's a nice horse and wasn't being overly bad just a tad naughty and nothing much for a rider who is in the know to overcome. When he reared and spun hang on to him anyway you can and go with him. Don't bail. You were in a confined shelter so it wasn't as if he could bolt for the hills. Safe travels going forward.
Well I mean at least she let go of the reins and didn’t pull the horse’s face off
It was partly fall and partly dismount I juse solved the comment war
Sort of how to emergency fall :) Glad youre ok.
hes so beautifulll
God I bet his paces feel like a dream to ride. I know when I ride my 11hh and 14.1hh in the same day my 14.1 feels like im sitting in an armchair or something! :')
Now i had to do a tactical dismount today as the horse i was on stumbled while cantering and fell down on its knees. Unfortunately the horse immediately got back up as i pushed pff to dismount. According to observers i was launch several metres into the air... it was fun
"Oh... oh shit... *wheeze*"
It was th riders fault she was pulling on his mouth a lot.
That not a dismount
Hi everyone. I am the rider in this video which was 8 years ago (that's pretty crazy!). Anyways, for those of you who made comments that I actually fell - I am fully aware of this fact. It was a joke lol. Funny I can watch this now and see every mistake I made. Which I ride a lot better now haha. I've shown up to 4' in the jumpers now, but I am currently retraining my seventh OTTB, which I just competed with at the Retired Racehorse Project. The horse in this video is Howie - this was my first and only time riding him. He was sold as a High JR/AO jumper the next week. He was probably one of the weirdest yet coolest horses I have ever ridden. Unfortunately, he had a pasture accident a few months after being sold and broke his shoulder... Horses.
I think it’s so impressive how even though you’ve made mistakes, you recognize them and learn from them! you are very inspiring :)
idk how late i am but that canter was the prettiest thing ive ever seen omg
this is why you need to check your girth
I know a horse who has had multiple saddlers but any saddle slips.... Some just don't work
Isn’t just dismounting?
Oh but it's such a beautiful horse!
You horse hate you . I van see this
When you realize the vid is 7 years old 😐😂
The horse is sooooooo big!!!!!
Thoughts horses are so tall but I am glad she got off that horse as fast as she could
Ugh, she looked so nervous and stiff through the whole ride, no wonder the horse had had enough :(
Description?
The reins are too tight. The horse wanted her off. There's only 2 reasons why a horse would buck, bolt, and do that. 1. Nervous 2. In pain/ not liking it. She clearly had very tight reins. ( as every english rider is taught. Sometimes western ).
Description
I think what happened there was that you were not providing enough release for the horse even though you were asking him to continue which led to a build up of pressure of which he could not escape from therfore to escape said pressure he bucked/bronked/reared etc... very calmly ridden though, great rider 👍👍
Have you read the description
it was the girls fault that she fell of because her trainer was saying release release but the girl didnt so the horse is trying to get away from the pain of the bit and did what he knew best which was to get the pain off him so he reared and got her off. its never the horses fault its only the rider and every good rider knows that. if you want a real horseman to show you what i mean go to Think Like A Horse. rick knows everything about horse signs and language. im not hating on the girl or the trainer nor horse. im juat stating the obviouse facts
Read the description? Also Rick doesn't know everything... People learn and this rider has told us what her situation was. Stop quoting people who aren't always correct
Your horse is so pretty though!!😍😍😍
How did she fall off ? Like every rider I've ever seen, it was "gravity" period.
Good job! But what do I do if my horse is 17.2 and not 17.3 :|
is that farm call muddy Creek or something?
The girth wasn't tight enough the saddle was literally slipping off!!! She should of tightened her girth up before her canter and jumping!
Not all horses fit saddles, i know one who has seen multiple saddlers yet her's still slips
