I love how correctly you pronounce Budapest. Thank you
I've stayed in Budapest quite a few times and it's one of the most beautiful cities in Eastern Euope.
It's Central Europe.
Budapest and Eastern-Europe in the same sentence....
@@hatosagok nah. there is two was to trigger hungarians:
1. call hungary eastern-europe.
2. call them slaves.
why? becuase the 3 major region of europe is west central and east.
-west is a speculation based society got their goods form their colonies. and slowly collapsing without them.
-central europe is a work based society everything made here by hard work. and also post area of holy-roman empire.
-east europe post territorry of russian empire. they was in midle age even at time of ww1. they heard to war as sherf and have no real civilian layer in their society.
as a Hungarian, I am so proud and happy for the appreciation we get for our capital❤️
Budapest is my favorite city in the world. Awesome place.
Budapest is absolutely my favorite city I've been to, and the night life is great!
I live in Hungary Budapest is a very beautiful city🇭🇺🇭🇺🇭🇺
my 1st ever F1 was at Budapest loved it
Same!
We went to visit the circuit while f1 wasn't there. Theres a cheap tour and it's super worth it
We flying in tomorrow!
Exciting time to be in Budapest by the looks of it
The Kempinski is beautiful. Great choice. Your hotel recommendations are spot on.
It really is!
Thank you for pronouncing "Buda-pesht" correctly😊
Budapest is an amazing city. Reminds me of a warmer, discount (not necessarily in a bad way) Copenhagen. This is quite a personal opinion, but the only thing really holding Budapest (and its not like they can change it) from being one of my "world's top cities" is that its not on a sea/ocean. Yes, the Danube runs up the center, and Lake Balaton isn't that far away (its still on hr), its not the same as a sea.
Lake Balaton is gorgeous ❤❤ The warm, greenish water and the stunning surroundings (especially Badacsony) makes it a very unique place in the world.
The Metro in the video is metro line M3 with modernised old russian trains. The rest of the lines have different rolling stock. This line and line M1 have no AC, M2 and M4 yes. As a resident of Budapest that takes line M3 I have to agree that not having AC when it's above 30 degrees Celsius feels pretty uncomfortable to say the least. 😅 I still love this city with all the flaws included and I'm happy you enjoyed it too. 😊
Smashy and the hotel is about 10-15 minutes walking, but I still understand you used the subway for 2 stops in this heat. Also, if you still have time (probably not anymore, it’s Thursday already), try Bors, it’s also about the same distance from your hotel and the best street food place in the city. Your content is great, filling an important information/entertainment gap for Liberty, please keep doing it, thank you for your videos.
Heading there next year for my 30th! Bought the F1 experience so here's hoping it goes well! (And better weather)
Great content. Love the mix of F1 plus travelogues for each of the cities
The predictions aged like milk 6:55
Have always to visit Budapest! Beautiful city. Reminds me of southern Croatia - I highly recommend a visit there. No F1 races there but maybe one day?
Kym you don’t half stay in some amazing and very expensive looking places and if that’s not all you get to photograph the best cars in the world… what a life 👌👌
It’s not all beer and skittles though. But if I’m gonna be working all the time I may as well do it from some nice accommodation.
@@KymIllman absolutely 👍 can’t fault you one bit
@@KymIllman I guess “sunshine and rainbows” doesn’t have the same ring anymore 🤷
Incredibly hot all over eastern europe, not much we can do about it, thankfully the weekend seems more bearable. I would say the Hungarian Grand Prix is fairly close to everyone in EU thanks to it's location, and the prices are affordable compared to the other destinations in the calendar. Wish you a pleasent weekend and fun race! 🤞 (I like how you blurred out other passangers for discretion)
I’ll be in the paddock this week, I hope I get to meet you Kym!
I’ll be there
We sure had a blast there at Hotel Mercav. Green Cat bar next door. F1 in town. British soccer team.
Was blast.
US ARMY SFOR9.
We’re going tomorrow! See you there Kym
Im in budapest right now! Sadly not going to the race but its lovely.
Great vid kym. I'm heading to Budapest in a few weeks time 👍
Nice one!
Saw you wandering round the paddock today (my first time at a race in 12 years), can confirm Budapest is a lovely city to visit 🙂
Just wish it wasn’t so hot 😅
what a wonderful roadtrip! thank you Kym for this amazing video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Looks like an amazing place to be! I sure could enjoy a Smashy right now!
You should!
Yes, it is, by far. Had an amazing time at last year’s Hungarian GP. Especially for the cost.
Going this year! Any tips or last minute advice?
My suggestion is to see my Race by Race guides at www.kymillman.com
@@blobmon786 If you can afford it hire a driver/get a pass that will give you fast lane access to and from the track. Traffic backs up for hours after every event the roads are a mess.
Great video, looking forward to more this weekend!
More to come!
I love the edits in this one. Also, I agree with you about these hotels. I was told always ask to see the original room first. Great video all around!
Glad you enjoyed!
Damn you put up some great content. Always informative and attention sticky.
Many thanks.
It surprises me that you didn't stick around the UK for the Goodwood Festival. That might be a great opportunity for an extensive photo collection of amazing high end cars.
As a Californian, your standard for burgers should definitely not be In N Out hahahaa. But to each their own. Great video!
My mother country! I’m very glad you enjoyed!
Never heard of Smashy Burger! Instead go to Retro Langos! Best Hungarian street food spot!
Don’t be fooled by those metros. Those are “new” trains refurbished from the old ones from Russia and only run on Line M3. Lines M2 and M4 have much nicer newer and quieter trains. M4 is even completely automated!
Love this video and hope you do more "travel" oriented videos of the other cities you visit.
I do a travel Video every time I go from Race to Race
If you have some spare time in the evening, a must is to visit the Liz and Chain Rooftop bar.
Always nice to watch somebody else do the heavy lifting and travel to Budapest, while I relax at home and cook the burgers exactly the way I want them . ❤
Sounding rather like a whinging POM about that missing 2 square metres...must be all that time you spent in the UK. Shard is a great location BTW.
As a fellow Perthling, I couldn't help but take your comments about the heat with a grain of salt :D
I walk by the Ritz Carlton hotel when I go to work every morning. I have never been inside the hotel so it is nice to see how it looks like. Same about Kempinski.
The last time I was at the Hungaroring was in 2010. There are probably so many chances since my last visit.
I was waiting for you to grab a seat on the ferris wheel and give us some night shots. And got to find an inandout burger near me, Fun stuff as always.
Very good, thanks for posting!!
Hey Kym! Each weekend my girlfriend and I have a fun game of “spot Kym” always recognize the bucket hat! Stay passionate
We had to circle around on the plane to wait for the storm to clear
I remember Patrese getting airborne. I think 1992 with Nigel
Kym, definitely go somewhere to eat langos and kürtőskalács (or chimney cake). My wife made me eat the first time I was there, guess she knew how to keep me happy 😁
Thanks for the tips!
I would stay in some amazing Airbnb and similar services for accommodation in cities.. personally to me a far better experience.. But I can see why Kym stays in major hotels as it promotes them and his channel for some great benefits. Kym is a clever man with amazing marketing skills and entertainment. Keep it up!
"travel blog" Kym! Well done 👏
Great video, i only found onbe issue with it.
As a native hungarian i find taxis to be ripoffs, and the hungarian goverment even banned uber to get tourists and locals to use taxis at a high price.
If anyone wants to visit Budapest , use Bolt instead of taxis, since its way cheaper
Yes.
I seen you at the track today, about an hour before the storm
6:29 these underground vehicles are refurbished old russian metros
Hi Kim.. if you like In & Out burgers, the next time you’re in Montreal, go to Dilallo Burger and have a Buck Burger in a suburb not too far from downtown called Ville Emard. Very similar but with an added homemade Italian pepper and a slice of Capicola ham. Great onion rings as well. Safe travels. Enjoying the videos.
In Jan this year, I visited the US for the first time and tried In-N-out burger (just the veggies in the burger) at their outlet very close to the LAX airport and it was the best burger I have had in my life! I am sure the burger with the beef patties in it would taste even better!
Noted - Shangri-La - Earthly Paradise - added to bucket list!😉
Kym, I’m liking this video just based on your fondness for In N Out Burger. It’s our favorite here in the US. Can’t go wrong with a Double Double, fries and strawberry shake! 🍔 🍟 🥤
Mr Illman I’ve been watching your content for some time,I just feel you are a bit moany on this one, especially re the room size, you are blessed and I love your channel and will keep watching but perhaps you should count your blessings, I will stay passionate and so should you, an eternal fan 💪🏽
I think the chair seat coming forward is maybe so you can put small bags in the seat
If you ever get into Seoul again I would love to hear your comparison of Signiel Seoul to the Shangri La. I found this hotel amazing for not being a “chain” hotel. Haven’t had the chance to stay at the Shangri La in London yet but felt this would be a good comparison.
Nothing compares to Monte Carlo!
Thought you would have stayed at the Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest overlooking the park. you rated it well on a previous trip
Sorry Kym, should have watched the whole clip. Now you are in the right place
Kudos/thanks for pronouncing Budapes(h)t correctly! Please try the Unicum. Best digestif ever!
My Hungarian father-in-law introduced me to Unicum with a sör (beer) back at the local vendéglő (pub)... Don't ask how many!
@@richardbrennan8910 Unicum is an acquired taste but definitely does the trick!
Did you bring a tape measure to check the hotel room area?
Always carry one.
😂😂😂 good question
Budapest might be the best party city in Europe, if not in the world.. beats all I’ve been! (Prague is great too, but I don’t know why Budapest wins!)
In-N-Out was one of Anthony Bourdain's favorite burgers
In &B Out is THE standard!
You have been to my street when I wasnt in town. Im sad not to meet you and Its an extremely weird feeling after watching your videos for 3 years
Hear that it is super hot there this week but lots of rain and flooding around. What's the forecast for quali and race day
One of the worst hotel I stayed at was the Ritz Carlton Marina Del Rey! So I am not surprised you had a bad experience at a Ritz.
Awesome topic
How has the rain been? I saw a video earlier that showed the highest point of the track under a lot of water 😱
I agree with you, Kym as I think In-N-Out Burger is the best
As much as i love the redbull ring being in city is just far more convenient Budapest is top tier
What is the best method of transport from downtown to/from the track? Seriously looking at attending next year.
Is the canon r1 a game changer? Probably is very good for the kind of stuff you do
Agree. Under promise, over deliver always.
Only Qantas Gold member with all the flying you do? Wow.. I think Kym fly's more other airline partners these days :)
with all the travelling. i am curious how do yoi use your accumulated rewards points
You, me, and Anthony Bourdain all agree: In N Out is the best burger, period.
I never got that place, just grease
You , KI, AB and me as well! Shakes are the best as well.
@@415s30 Go eat a turkey burger then lol but when discussing the best burger I don't think something lean/dry is going to top many peoples lists.
Hey, I am staying in Kampensky by your recommendation from last year, I think we even floor neighbors 😂
Do you know if any team will stay here this year ? Or where we can see the drivers here ? Thanks 🙏🏼
Big taxi tip. Never hail one down or get in one waiting at a popular place. They will easily ask 5x the price of what's offered on the app. We were asked to pay the equivalent of 55 euros while via the app we paid 9
Have you been in the Palace area on the hill the opposite site of the Danube? That is worth a walk as well. Next year ping me to show you around. :-)
And now, I want a burger!
As someone who lives in California and can get In-n-Out any time I want, I rarely do. It's still a fast food burger and there are many better choices locally. I've also had plenty of amazing burgers in Europe. It reminds me of the hype for Coors when it wasn't available east of the Mississippi. Everyone was clamoring for it and thought it was great but it was really garbage and still is.
They say that the Hungaroring has the best ticket prices for F1. (oh is was mister Illman video :P)
Yo kym as an American chap with colombian background, what's the difference between fries and Crisps? I watch OG top gear and hear them say It often
What are the two other cities that make up your top-3 vibrant f1 cities? Great travel video as always Kym!
That will be a subject for another Video
Where do you get all your great t-shirts from Mr illman?
I find them in my travels.
Hope you got yourself a great meal tonight. Those East European countries are beautiful.
Only two burgers?
Try BurgerFuel or Grill'd when you're back in Oz.
I like your coverage of F1 to a point. When you start bragging about the excesses you experience that most people would only dream about it begins to grate on me more than just a little. We know F1 is the pinnacle but a little less smugness might go a long way.
Hey Kym!! Do I need a ticket for your meet and greet at the Austin GP or is it just anyone who's at the GP can swing by?
It’s on the sidewalk in front of the bar. No ticket required.
@@KymIllman wonderful! 😊
Why did you move out of the Ritz-Carlton? Was something wrong there to move next door?
I would never stay 12 days in one hotel, that’s why I move around
The GP is at Mogyoród :/
So what’s in your top 3 for f1 cities?
Thank you for asking, but #1 is Monaco. #2 Monaco. #3 Monaco. In that order. 😂
Hot weather is good for Mercedes cars.
What’s the price for staying at ritz?
It changes all the time; have a look on their website
Does 2 square meters really make a difference ?
Not if it’s in your favour.
