    I hope this pushes more guitarists to venture into the world of P90's. Truly amazing pickups.

      Indeed. I've been a Practicing Guitarist since 1974, 3 months ago I purchased my fist P90 guitar.
      I'm totally loving the P90.

    There’s something so raw yet refined about P90s. I’m glad folks are getting into them more these days.
    I have a SC 594 PRS with P90s and it’s unreal how good it sounds.
    Great playing both of you! Personally, I’m a sucker for JRs so I gotta give it to the Gibson on this one

    All the comments loving the junior, but that dark, woolly fuzzy p90 neck/middle goodness is what I live for. Great job!!

    I actually just changed my tele neck pickup to a p90 and I'm loving it!
    Guillaume is winning this one because he has a neck pickup which is the best p90 position... and his tones were everything I love

    I liked Kris better. Probably because I liked his more aggressive style of playing. Guillaume seemed to have a more restrained style.

    Not sure if you can find Reverend Guitars in Europe, but the Jetstream 390 has 3 P90s and the tone circuit is the usual suspect plus a “bass contour” that really changes the voicing of the pickups. Set it right and it can mimic strats, teles, and even humbuckers (with hum). Pretty good whammy bar, locking tuners, more of an off-set body shape (it fits in a Jazzmaster gig-bag.)
    That being said, I still want one of those Gibson DC Juniors they sold a few years ago.

  • @markmallinder7618

    The single pickup guitar easily wins in my opinion. The clean tone with a bit push sounds so characterful. However, everything played on this guitar sounds incredible!

    I have a P94 loaded Rivera. The awesome tones available by slight adjustments of volume and tone are amazing. I set up my sweet tone at 8 on my guitar allowing the access to mid push and hot drive are there. I find my attack on the strings are the key. I play through a Peavey Delta Blues that gives me 90% of the crunch I need with room for pedals when needed. I do own a tele but not a strat. I feel I have the best tones.

    Please add more effects, gain and compression, because now I still can slightly hear the character of the pickups.

    I would put minibuckers in that LP.
    Bought a Harley Benton JA60 kit few weeks ago. My first p90 guitar. Can’t wait to play it when it is finished.
    Best tone. 2 pickups anytime.

    Kris had the single pup grit+bite, G had the dual pup smoothness. Picking a winner just depends on what sound you want, and on 1-pup variant how hard you want to work for it.
    The winner is ... P90s, for having the versatility to do both.

    Love that Junior. In the mid-80s, I traded a Monkees Gretsch (terrible guitar) for a 57 Junior, the only good trade I ever made!

  • @Rock_Bottom_Denizen

    The TV yellow Jr smashed the LP, I love p90s as you can get beastly heavy, rich tones even from inexpensive Pups, I have been playing on some uber cheap Roswell p90s that just roar if you stack a good OD or distortion going into an op amp big muff, that pedal is absolutely my favorite Ive ever owned. havent tried stacking with a Rat yet but i hear good things about the Rat 2 into the big muff, prob my next pedal purchase.

  • @jeffreyeagen4896

    Love the clean P90 bridge sound - not as harsh as a Telecaster and warmer - but having the neck pickup gives you more options and I love the two pickups sound on most guitars I have owned.
    An all mahogany LP or twin cutaway LP special (with two P90s) is a fantastic guitar.

  • @andydinesguitar

  • @drdfx159
    @drdfx159 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Clean: Kris, crunch: both, maybe Kris a bit better, lead: Kris, fuzz: Guillaume.
    BUT! In general Guillaume's guitar seems to be darker, even on the bridge PU. Which shows me what I have also experienced during my journey with in the P90 world: not all P90's sound the same. And of course not all guitars. Honestly here all tones were tastefuly done. So congrats, I'd be happy with any of these tones.

    I think to make the most of the P90 sound, they need set in a Tele. I have a 94 USA Custom ll that is amazing. Out of these 2, it's a hard choice. The duel pup had prettier tones, but the Junior sounded like good ol US rock and roll, so I have to go with Chris. Seriously though, check out a duel P90 Tele .

    I love the idea of single pickup guitar (like Malcom Young, Phil X, JJ Nichols etc), but with fuzz, on neck pickup around 12th fret, the extra harmonics are irreplacable for me. Also for that reason, Im not fan of 24 fret guitars, as the neck pickup is not in the spot anymore and the magic is missing.

    • @lupilawless1563

      It's a single coil. It's supposed to be noisy. Use a good noise Gate. Or start hitting the shit out of the guitar when there is gain ;) just like Jared does it.

    Def the Junior. Guillaume had too much muddy sound. Was not pleasing..sounded like a cheap tone control and defeats the strong points of a P90.

  • @wolfsguitarden740
    @wolfsguitarden740 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    When I don't understand is when people make pickup videos and use six different pedals like what the f*** is the point of that? You've completely defeated the purpose of a tone demo

    Who’s got the best what now?
    Why is it called a p90?
    Single coil =very self explanatory
    Humbucker also fairly self explanatory but P 90 just seems like pick up Prototype number whatever
    Why not a P9000 or P50???

    • @Somuntioalt
      @Somuntioalt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s exactly where the name comes from, if I’m not mistaken. It’s the prototype number that just stuck. Rhett Shull has a great video where he goes over the P90 sound and history 😄
