Those Southern Rock bands usually kicked ass live! The Allman Brothers Band were known for great live performances! And Charlie Daniels ran a tight ship! Nothing but your best was acceptable!

Yesterday made 47 years since we lost some great people. We had a great time at the memorial celebrating the lives of all 6 that we lost and all 20 survivors. We love them all.
Was it Garry playing during the solo of this one? Right after Ronnie says "here it comes". I know that different guys would solo on different parts of songs. That little solo on this song (this version on particular) is fucking sick. I can't help myself and I turn the volume all the way up every time It comes.
Personally I like Allen but it takes both Gary and Allen’s playing to make the first album which is easily their best. Ed king only played guitar on one song on pronounced. Ed really didn’t play bass very well so when the second album came time he was involved a lot more. But Gary and Allen were always bouncing off each other. No Allen or no Gary it’s a completely different band.
They massively practiced. Ronnie was a task master. He would go over and over a song until it was "perfect t." All the solos, were not spontaneous. What they played on stage was exactly what they practiced. Many of the members had said this. Love me some Skynyrd
HELL house. Their practice place had no AC. Jacksonville, FL in the summer. They practiced till Ronnie was satisfied. Nobody ever quit. They knew they had something spacial.

Ronnie played shows barefoot. My aunt met him back in 1975 backstage before the show. Ronnie said... It was about him being in touch with the stage and the music under his feet. He could feel the rhythm and it flowed upward through him.

It's Gary on this one primarily, as was usual on Saturday Night. He really is the signature sound of the band.
