This is the reason I love Daniil.. he holds nothing back, owns everything.. probably the least insecure player I have seen.. he can openly appreciate his opponents and at the same time critique himself and that too with a great transparency.. and the way he handles his losses, wow.. way to go Daniil! @@massimoravaldini1890I'm also Italian and I like Daniil a lot, and have for a long time. He is one of the few elite athletes who in interviews, both on and off the court, gives the impression of listening, thinking and responding honestly. And he always has a reasoned and never banal opinion. I find him to be a very intelligent person with a complex personality. I'm a bit sorry that the Italian press targeted him for a two-year-old yawn and made him unpleasant to many, given that already, as a Russian, he almost never has a large fan base that cheers for him . It has nothing to do with the mental side - the SPIRIT is engaged now. The simple truth is that Alcarez and Sinner have the X factor secret in their boxes. Next to Juan Carlos is a shorter older dude who can mirror the Zone--the Electro magnetism--the FLOW to him and a young Italian helps Sinner in the same way. Find a FLOW MASTER and beat them!!!
That older Italian is running the Sinner show. He knows the Zone BIG! Only Alcarez and Sinner have these flow givers in their boxes. compare that with Brad Gilbert cowering in the Gauff box. Can any one else discern this as well?
Why not get rid of the boxes and let everyone stand on their own 2 feet instead of having security blankets in their box . . .

Again, not a single question about Medvedev's serve. His serve has been consistently getting worse since 2021. Typically, as a player gets older, they rely more and more on their serve. So, seeing his regression is concerning for his longevity.
It is shocking that people are not inquiring as to whether it is his hernia that impacted his serve so much and he can't push off or stretch as much or something else. I would like to know whether he is working on it or not. If hernia is not the issue, he must hire a serve coach (Goran is available) ASAP. Otherwise, he will be dropping off Top 10 soon.

    • @MMerlyn91
      @MMerlyn91 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

Yeah, his serve is getting pretty awful, I remember the US Open final against Djokovic, he basically won that by serve mostly. And today Sinner served like a monster, so does Zverev at the moment.
And yes, he might need a change in coaching. Gilles Simon doesn't seem to add much, I am wondering if he is thinking about adding Ivanisevic.
I don't think he will drop out of top 10 though, he is still above most of the players on tour consistently. But Zverev is coming for him.

Dropping off the top 10 sounds a bit dramatic..remember how dominant he was in the first 2 sets at the AO final? Even set 3 and 4 were pretty close..to play so well and still lose. That's a tough one.

The game plan was right but it’s tough to player hyper aggressive when you play defensive the whole tournament.
I feel like he needs to bring more aggression to his usual game so it’s not as big a step up to play the very best. As he gets older it’ll be better if we can shorten the points and the amount of time he plays during a tournament.

Tell you what all tennis players could learn a LOT from these two: both so honest and humble. Compare Djokovic’s litany of excuses on the rare occasions he loses to Medvedev here and the difference is night and day (although to be fair to Nole he doesn’t have as much practice losing matches 😂!)…. I think Danil is great for the sport and Sinner, welp, numero uno is up next, 100%. (Edit; actually Carlito was also a shining example of respect yesterday so he, despite his age, doesn’t need lessons about ANYTHING, except maybe his second serve!)

Sinner is simply now the mentally stronger player.
Daniil played well enough, but on the critical points became tight in the face of the brick wall of Sinner's consistency.
And once he realized how laser focused yet at the same time completely relaxed the consistent Sinner was, the tightness turned into outright choking on critical points - hitting the ball out or into the net, then becoming frustrated at that, which simply exponentiated the choking. A cascading effect leading to a somewhat misleading 6-1, 6-2 score.
In other words, Daniil didn't play that horrible of a game, it's just that Sinner has gotten into his head, and he choked at the critical times when he should have won the game at 40 up, or when had advantage.

I like your assessment. The long rally where Daniil dumped his forehand in the net was telling to me. It seemed like a mental fade out from that rally. As always the pressure Sinner puts on Daniil, and opponents in general atm, is that he makes it difficult for them to play well period. Sinner is so consistent and strong off the ground, can change direction seemingly at will, serving big, but critically, serving well, when it matters, and, he has a relaxed confidence in his game - it's what an in form player looks like. He has the momentum over several months now, since end of 2023. It's very impressive.

I'm italian, and I go for Sinner. Even if Medvedev does not respect Sinner in a match time ago, I do respect this russian player.

To me , Meddy is great tennis player. But this Season, Sinner and Alcaraz have found the method to beat him. No reaction from Meddy and many trophees 🏆 are for young generation. Meddy please wake up and beat them

Actually, both have the same comment about this match. One played better, the other one played worse, then result would be like this. Let's see what will happen next match they encounter.

Sinner played his game, and he has been on fire lately, but Meddy couldn't bring his A game, that's for sure!

Well done for saying ‘he did great and I didn’t’. Unlike Rafa ‘he was ok today (ah my ankle is sore!), no, it’s nothing honestly (oh no my back!), no honestly don’t worry about me (agh! My arm!), I’m fine I don’t like to complain’.

Well Rafa has 22 Grandslams. It's definitely his injuries that hold him back.

He sounds like Novak- I played badly, this was the worst match of my life- that seemed to rub off on him, Sinner was in God mode, that's why he won.
